Watched THE GREAT GATSBY. A romantic movie where the hero blows out billions just to see his love. Good Movie especially the party scenes. Art direction was awesome. Only thing i feel sad is that Caprio dies in every movie be it django , departed, blood diamond, titanic and in this one too.

IRON MAN : RISE OF TECHNOVORE marvel along with the japanese studio who created marvel anime tried to create a dark "Akira" style video for iron man but failed badly; while iron man anime was pretty good this video was a drag, way too complicated coupled with unnecessary dark background and burdensome talk about human desire .............. it never stood true as a iron man movie nor proved a worthy anime 4/10 painful

recently watched a movie named 'Big Fish'.

Big Fish - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

it was in the hard disk for a long time and don't know from where i had got it.

but once i started watching it, the whole experience grew into a pleasant surprise.

the movie is based on a novel by the same name.
the relationship between a story teller father and his son is shown in a beautiful way.

after watching i came to know that it is a tim burton movie and then i checked the ratings etc.
i was again surprised.

it does remid of 'forrest gump' without the political and other real life stories which are shown in the latter.

I'd recommend this movie.

Helpful verdicts of new releases...!

1) Aurangzeb begins poorly but picks up in the second half. Arjun Kapoor is commendable and decent supporting performances by Rishi Kapoor, Prithviraj and Jackie Shroff make the film a one time watch.
2) Grand, spellbinding and visually mesmerizing. Gatsby's exquisite romance and DiCaprio's impeccable performance makes the film a definite watch even with its flaws.
3) The Reluctant Fundamentalist has a moving story and solid performances. Mira Nair's film is ambitious but fails to go the distance due to its simplistic approach. One time watch.
4) Epic is a visual treat which boasts technical finesse all around. The charming humor and engaging story makes it a satisfying watch.

Aurangzeb - 3 stars on 5.

A good movie with a confusing yet an amazing story line. A group of highly qualified actors; with Arjun Kapoor giving in his best. A good mystery thriller that kept it's audience glued to the screen.

Startrek Into Darkness - Must watch for SF lovers 4/5

Movie Neram is a good entertainer. Its fast and has got some nice twist and turnarounds. You will never feel sad at any point of time. Camera work is brilliant. And each actor have done their part perfectly.

Shootout at Wadala - Made me curse every second of those 3 hours of torture.
Pure fail with actors who had no clue what exactly were they doing, with cheap songs which had no connections to the movie and worst of all Kangna :/ !

2. Mud - Can do away with - 2.5/5
3. Shootout at Wadala - Doesnt match up Lokhandwala, but impressed by J. Abraham - 3/5
4. The Great Gatsby - Movie buffs might like the cinematography and stuff, I found it pretty lame. But for the performances - 3/5
5. Pain & Gain - Hillarious, good performance by Dwayne Johnson - 3.5/5
6. Oblivion - Definitely not among the best action flicks, but it will keep you engaged - 3/5
7. The place beyond the pines - The trailer doesnt reveal much. There's much more in the film - 3.5/5
8. 42 - This'd be the best among the lot. Good story, engaging - 4/5

Robert Duvall,Joquain Phonenix,Mark Whalberg,Eva Mendes team up with James Gray in a engaging drama that portrays resilience,love,inner fight,courage .

Burt Gruinsky [ robert duvall] is chief of police and has two sons . Unfortunately the two sons are poles apart in their lifes -- while Joseph Gruinsly [ mark whalberg ] is himself a police officer fighting the crimes of drugs and mafia his brother Bobby Green [ joquain phonenix ] is somewhat involved indirectly in the business of drugs as he manages a club which is the safe house for activities pertaining to drugs .
While Bobby is against his family's rules ,traditions to such an extent that he uses surname of his mother - Green. He is warned beforehand of tough times ahead by his father and brother .Avoiding their warning Bobby is immersed in his lady love Amada [ eva mendes ] hoping to make it big in club business . Things turn ugly when a drug kingpin Vadim allegedly shoots down Bobby's brother Joseph . While Joseph is clinging between life and death Bobby sets up against this drug mafia in order to avenge his brother's devastating condition however this transition completely changes bobby's life forever . Not only his professional dreams are heldback but his love life also suffers .

review : joquain phoenix completely owned it to such an extent that whalberg got completely overshadowed . The direction was top notch for me as the tension was therein the entire film .The car attack scene where Burt Gruinsky is killed amidst is a treat to watch .The last scene where Bobby kills Vadim is also very good andtouches the viewer .

verdict : If you are a drama fan don't miss this

Gunda-the name my friends suggested me a long ago...!
They said that it's a cult classic by Kanti shah. I was like ok , chalo dkh lete hai waise bhi I'm huge fan of Mithun.
So , I downloaded it few days back and yesterday hit the play button.You won't believe me but from the very 1st scene to the climax I was totally spell-bounded. There's really no words to describe this "cult classic"
Take the dialogues(cheesy) , songs(WTF) , gang-war , actors and their acting and their unique style of dialogue delivery...you'll find all of these out of this world...!

I usually give * to movies but in this case I won't dare to give up. It's kind of film you have to watch before you die...!

Pedro Almodóvar's Broken Embraces (2009) is a strange yet intriguing work of cinema. A heartbreaking tale of love, Broken Embraces highlight's the Spanish filmmaker's love for filmmaking as well the medium, which is underlined by the following line spoken by the movie's protagonist: "No, what matters is to finish it. Films have to be finished, even if you do it blindly." Almodóvar is not the first filmmaker to pay homage to cinema. Time and time again, filmmakers have used their films to express their overwhelming love for the medium: be it Alfred Hitchcock, Billy Wilder, Federico Fellini, Jean-Luc Godard, Giuseppe Tornatore, Abbas Kiarostami, Robert Altman, or Martin Scorsese.

Broken Embraces (2009) is far from being a masterpiece. In fact, it's not even Almodóvar's best film, but it does have its moments that are enough to make it worthy of a watch. Almodóvar seems to have perfected his unique style by borrowing bits and pieces from the masters of cinema. Those who have followed Alfred Hitchcock's body of work closely would know that sex and humor were two of his major elements. And Almodóvar, a great fan of the Master of Suspense, too relies heavily on these two powerful elements often blending them with an equally potent weapon: social commentary. And like Hitchcock, Almodóvar loves to revisit his old works in an effort to further refine his quaint yet effective ideas. In fact, it is not very difficult for the keen-eyed viewers to spot the recurring patterns in Pedro Almodóvar’s films, just like in Hitchcock's. And Broken Embraces is no different in this regard with the ever so ambitious Almodóvar trying to borrow and improvise upon certain ideas from his breakthrough film, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown (1988).

While the comparisons between Hitchcock and Almodóvar are endless, one similarity that just cannot be overlooked is their insatiable love for technical mastery. There is a brilliant sequence in Broken Embraces that that underlines the remarkable quality of editing (and technical excellence) in Almodóvar's films. In the very scene, a rotating CD can be seen fading into a cylindrical staircase as the movie's protagonist climbs down the stairs. The scene is highly reminiscent of the editing techniques employed by Hitchcock in one of his early masterpieces: Sabotage (1936).

Overall, Broken Embraces, at best, serves to be a guilty pleasure. Almodóvar's obsession to experiment with his old ideas in trying to embed them with the new ones ends up overloading the film with at least one excessive plot line. The best ways to savor Broken Embraces is to either treat it as a homage to filmmaking or to look upon it as a exercise in style. Regardless of the excesses, Broken Embraces will prove to be a great film viewing experience for Almodóvar fans and also for who understand and appreciate powerful world cinema. 7/10

The Oxford Murders

Martin [ elijah wood ] goes out to study in oxford trying to become a protege to the " world famous mathematics professor " Arthur Seldom [ john hurt ]

Impressed by his previous works in the filed of mathemtics Martin does few things to get noticed in the eyes of the professorbut things take a drastic turn when the mentor protege duo find themselves entangled in a series of murder mysteries which they try to solve using their mathematics equations and formulas .

Verdict -- What started out as a interesting concept in the start turned out to be a waste in the end .
Not recommended

But John Hurt was simply excellent in his role . His opening speech is simply brilliant and goes to show that he must be having an illustrious acting experience and immense greatness .

One dialogue I rememeber from the movie -- the biggest truth is everything is a lie .
