Arsenal vs Spurs... has rightly taken the spirit up for the teams which have been breathing on the necks of top 4.

I dont think there is any reason to praise Spurs for their game.. they did not play well as most of you will agree.. Still they won as individual brilliance still makes difference and will do in future as well... VDV has to be credited for this win. Ohh yes Gallas, despite having a little shaky start in midst of "boooooos", has been brilliant.

On another note Arsenal's defensive blockers were inexistent :-P

P.S. Taking off Aron Lennon and blocking Nasri in the second half were two excellent moves by Redknapp.. Kudos..

The midfield was crap, no creativity whatsoever. Add to that, Drogba looked very lethargic, Anelka has forgotten how to score goals in the league (though he has quite a handsome record in UCL).

Without Essien or Lampard in the MF, it will be pretty hard for us to run the show. 2 more matches without them, and that includes one at St. James Park. Hard days are coming :-(

Wellnot just striker..we need lot of players

RB -- Rafael is good with attacking and defence but who else..Wes Brown was neither attacking nor defending... Neville is good but often injured

LB -- Evra thinks he is a winger of some sort and was caught way off his position more than a dozen times..

CAM -- There isin't any... :(

Winger -- Nani is good but we need a replacement for Valencia(short term atleast) Hargo and Giggs are still injured

Striker -- Rooney is back so he will be available next week onwards improving the chance...


All this team's got is character but that can only allow us to chase games which ain't gonna make us win a trophy...

I dun think Chelsea should have any trouble this season in retaining the PL well until and unless they like competition....

Looked as if United were playing against 10 defenders.ManC under Mancini play like typical Italian sides.It wont help them win the EPL.With billions under his belt and one of the most talented sides in EPL , if he believes that Chelsea will win the EPL , it shows his attitude.

United looked the only side looking to win this match.ManC are only are cheap imitation, who failed to impress.

ManC is a fractured team with individual stars and ego's.They might have a lot of individual talent but are a long way from gelling as a team.Which other team has players fighting in-between a game , quite often.

And why the hell does Adam Johnson play less.He is one of the better players at ManC.

Nah, I would want ManC to win. They are still inconsistent and imo not title contenders, at least this season. On the other hand, Man Utd. picks up it's form after Christmas and they don't seem to drop points that stage. So as a Chelsea fan, I would love Man City to breathe down our neck rather than Man Utd.

To be honest I would be happy with a draw too...This time its highly unbalanced in favour or city...

We do not have full strength sqad...I wonder if SAF could even assemble 11 first team regulars on the other hand City nowdays doesn't seem to have any reserve team players all they have is poached first team players from other teams...

Plus the home advantage to city puts us in a tough spot...

Although I would love to see United win at City even with depleted squad, but after Wolves game all I can realistically hope for is a draw....

Short passing?

I would take to Short Passing any-day, considering what that has done to Arsenal in the last decade!

Injuries sure had their say for Arsenal this season, and there is little that a manager could do in this regard. What is really interesting to see is how the 'newer' players have adapted to Arsenal's play. Talk about a Sagna or a Chamakh exhibiting the sort of 'quick move' plays that Arsenal is known for, it speaks volumes about the manager and the way the team is trained.

Yes, in terms of player to player comparison, today's Arsenal stands nowhere near the Arsenal of early 2000's (Vieira in his prime, Henry, Bergkamp, Pires, Ljunberg, Sol), however, whats interesting to note is that their style of play has not been remarkably different from them.

It is very natural for any sane critic to come out and watch Arsenal grow, however, time is one factor that would not cut any ice with me!

Arsene's been clinging on to it a bit too long, and its time that this Arsenal team proved that they are much more than a top 4 club.

I know short passing is what Arsenal is best at. But do you not wonder that a team with such brilliant talent has not been able to win any trophies for the last 5 years. I know Wenger has been phnomenal. He has done so much for the club. But he is now living on his past deeds. He has made some basic errors. He should have rectified the goalkeeper situation long time back. Almunia and Fabianski are in no way goalkeepers of a top team. And let me tell you - Goalkeepers can win points. Take Van de Saar for example. He has saved Manu so many times. Manu does make mistake at the back but Van de Saar is always there to protect them. This makes a huge difference. Almunia and Fabianski do not have any sort of command in the box. They are always nervous when the long ball comes in and make some sort of error which costs us the match

One more area where Wenger has gone wrong - Tactics. If you see Arsenal do not seem to have any gameplan. All they do is come on the field and start passing. If they get the goal its fine, if not they start to get frustrated. They simply do not have a plan B to fall back on. And I understand beautiful football is good to watch but to have the same strategy against all the premeir league teams? All of them know how to defeat us and where are we vulnerable - i.e. defence. All other teams do is make pass high and long into our box and the goal comes. This has happened A LOT.

Another area is Striker. Van persie is good. But his fitness is pathetic. Most of the season he is injured. He is not reliable to fall back upon. We got Chamakh this season. He is good. But he is not the kind of striker we need. We need a mean and a selfish striker. See drogba, Rooney and Torres. Our players never shoot from distance. They only score when the ball is inches near the goal line. And Chamakh is not at all physical. Have you seen any powerful strike from him? No. Because he is not that type. Bendtner is a little improved Chamakh but no better. What we need is another Henry.

Another sore point is the set pieces. Arsenal are miserable at it. They do not have good wingers. They do no know how to make crosses. If you see Manu most of their goals are from crosses. I am not a fan of such kind of goals but they do win matches.

What I moan about is Wenger is not adapting himself. He has one tactic and is forcing it to work. He doesnt realise that if a tactic is not working he needs to change it. Playing players out of position is not a good thing. Walcott is one such player. He is not a winger. He should be played as a striker. He can shoot from distance.

Please do not think that I hate Arsenal. In fact I love Arsenal so much that I have missed a lot of AIMCATS on weekends just because Arsenal was playing at that time. But its painful to see such a side lose. Its difficult to be an Arsenal fan. But its hard not to love this team

I think another reason why Arsenal havent been able to win anything in recent years is the absence of a quality goalkeeper.Its not that the Arsenal team 6-7 years ago had the best keeper in Seaman ( As he made some awful mistakes) but he was at-least twice as better than Almunia.Lehmann literally ruined Arsenal's chance to win their only Champions League trophy in 2006.

Moreover in the big matches along with the fact that you need a moment of brilliance from someone(As Torres demonstrated recently against Chelsea) , you also need to keep simple things simple , like making no mistakes in your half.The recent howler by Clichy which allowed Newcastle to score was an example of how a simple mistake can ruin your match.

A good temperament comes from experience and if Arsene Wenger can keep
his nucleus of the squad intact for 2-3 years they can probably see the results.You cant have experienced people leave your squad and still hope for glory.

Nice to see Liverpool back to winning ways. This week has proved to be great for Manu. A last minute winner, Chelsea and Arsenal losing points. Now all eyes are set on the Manchester Derby. I would have loved to see the Bad boy Balotelli play but he is on red card. He sure could have troubled the united defenders.

Being a hard core Arsenal fan it was a terrible week for me. Again and again Arsenal are making the same mistakes. Wenger does not have any kind of tactical planning. All they do is come and try short passing to score goals. When their plan fails they do not have a Plan B to fall back on. Fabianski needs to eliminate those kind of errors.

This midweek round of Barclays Premier League fixtures kicks off on Tuesday with two intriguing matches.

The season just got a bit more balanced after the games this week. Although United stand second in the standings, this team has been labelled as "the most average United team of the decade" from some footballing quarters.

Although there have been no eye hogging players, the unit has gelled well as a team to ensure good defense and wing-play. I would be naive to predict the future on the back of this season, but i get this feeling that the team leading the pack during X'mas would, this time go on to win the league.

Arsenal have lacked consistency, and with Manchester City, Tottenham and a resurgent Liverpool on their CL / C'ship trail, they better avoid dropping points especially on home territory.

They say winning is a habit, and it becomes doubly essential for Chelsea to come back strong after their showing at Anfield (Read first half). Pundits have predicted that they might have had a relatively easier start to the season in terms of fixtures, but there's a lot to be done in terms of coming back and winning after a bad game at Anfield.

Overall, the top teams this time have shown their knack for inconsistency this season, and it really would speak volumes of that team which could pull it off in being consistent in this close / unpredictable / inconsistent season of 2010-11.

One of the big upsets of the season, was the 4-2 drubbing of Tottenham Hotspurs by Bolton Wanderers.

Looking at the Liverpool's current form, it again is evidently visible, that ONLY GERARD is the one who is in the form like he had in 2005-07.
I hope the torres-gerrard pair starts to click more often, as it'd guarantee some assurance to the other RED players as well.

Not taking anything away from rafas achievements I am not a very big fan of rafa ..he is a great tactician but his ability of not getting along with players more often then not overshadows his other positives as a manager. The fact remains that both etoo and milito have come out and said they have had differences with him . Look at the robbie keane case. A footballing team no matter how great will not perform unless it is motivated. That was jose's speciality there is no chance in hell that inter last year would lose to Tottenham and they have pretty much the same squad as last year. anyways its my opinion and everybody has the right to differ

Well that wasn't a goal in the first place.. just a clumsy piece of refereeing..!! nani had clearly handled the ball and it was a free kick which gomes like usually keepers do, had placed a little further form the point of foul.. nani meanwhile got up.. and looked at the refree who was maybe caught thinkin bout his ex- wateva..and confused as he was, the ref allowed the play to go on.. the linesman meanwhile thinking that the ball was interrupted by nani before the free kick could be taken was flagging furiously, he was then told by the referee that no free kick had been awarded in the first place..and so the furore stands!!
According to Redkanpp though, Clattenburg has admitted his mistake..!!

P.S- Absolutely loved hearing Paul Masefield take Clattenburg apart in the ESPN after show.. This is not the first controversy involving Clattenburg bdw.. he has his share of interesting refereeing decisions...!! :splat:
