Promoting Viru to middle order is not going to happen as a sudden overnight decision. It needs some pre-series planning, an interview with the man himself, an interview with the replacer (who will say the replaced's shoes are too big to fill), positive and negative reactions from former cricketers, justification reply from the captain...lot of pre-match work is involved here.

How strange the batting order looks without RSD and VVS! SRT looked confused and nervy during his 62-ball 19.

Anyway, I personally feel VVS was right to give a kick up everyone's rear end. Poor guy flunked in two series (like everyone else) and the media went to town. The BCCI planted fake reports in the media seeking his retirement! Manjrekar made unbecoming comments about him. Dhoni is pissed with VVS for some reason.

But at 32, I really don't think Badrinath is the answer. And he has always shown a haughty, presumptous attitude. Complaining about non-selection, assuming his selection to the XI if he is selected to the squad ("This is my second debut - BS) etc. Not needed. Rahane is in the ranks and frankly Rohit needs less criticism and a run in tests.

Bhai Log, my only contention is that if player like suresh raina can get a chance to play couple of test matches why not RS... i concede on his lack of discipline but every1 failed on AUS & ENG tour......

on similar lines we have Ishant sharma playing on & off given his erratic form ( just look at his last 10 matches bowling avg )....

Also replacing Laxman (38) wid Badri (32) defies logic of promoting youngsters....

I feel Laxman (like Dravid) has got the timing right on his retirement. The home series are the best time to bring in youngsters.

I guess there is nothing wrong in playing in a negative way sometimes (offcourse using 'negative' word may be wrong here). I could recall India vs Australia test match in 2008 where Dhoni successfully employed negative field to break Aussie momentum. Though the same tactics didn't work earlier this year in Australia. Mainly because it requires a great skill and discipline by a bowler to keep sticking to a plan which is predictable.

Is anybody watching the series between West Indies A and India A in the Caribbean? Its been competitive through out. So far the test series has gone to WI even though Indian side won the first match but they squandered the advantage in the second game.

WI A has also wont the first LOI, thanks to Suleman Benn for hitting 2 sixes in the last over otherwise Windies were in a precarious condition.

Instead of putting up the boring SL Vs Pak test series (where Pak is being hammered), sports channels should have covered that Ind A, WI A series.

Allowing two bouncers per over is a very good rule in my opinion...as it will give bowlers like Steyn,Malinga,Lee an added sting to torture batters on bouncy pitches...nd to counter that only 4 fielders will be allowed outside 30-yard circle making it easy for a batsman to find boundaries...

News like the above piece highlight the dedication, motivation and the never ending drive in a certain man who has played since he was 16 and he is still playing. I feel some of the others (without taking names) have other goals while playing cricket - fame, money, better life, etc (nothing wrong in it). But the man talked above has just one goal, just take the bat in his hand and play, nothing less and nothing more.

The problem is that our players specially BOWLERS get carried away by their one off heroics because of massive fan following we have here... eventually they turn out in to gimmicks.

IMO, NARAINE & AJAMAL r the best spinners in the world today, though m not too covinced wid their actions... else u cant bowl doosaras & teesaras so easily that also with almost 25 - 40 deg of turn...

NARAINE will be tested only when he play TESTS against IND & AUS. MORKEL is yet to tour AUS & ENG.

MALLINGA has already retired from TESTS.

last couple of years have been the best for the batsmen around the world with none of teams having any serious wicket takers with the exception of DALE STEYN..

Now the IPL is over , Indian players are getting a much deserved break of 54 days.... But then there is a tight schedule after that..

22nd july-7 august= 5 odis+ 1 t-20 against Srilanka.

23rd august-11th sep= 2 tests and 2 t-20 against Newzealand

18th sep-7th oct= T-20 world cup

10th oct-28th oct= CL T-20( With CSK/KKR/DD qualifying, almost all Indian internationals will participate )

i was expecting a better show from then after OZ series...but on day 1 and 2 they totally disappoint me to make a come back on Day-3......this is something strange...
but i would say i will be keenly watching this series for many reasons ....
1.)i love Test cricket when played outside indian subcontinent(England is heaven)
2.)Chandrapaul...one of the most under rated player of all time....
3.)Darren Bravo....may be i think we are gonna witness atleast a fraction of Lara....but i must say i have loved the way he plays.....i am looking forward to some better innings from him....
4.)WI bowling Attack...

Yeah WI team has been very inconsistent as they don't have the belief of winning matches.. They have a captain who is a whole-hearted cricketer but someone who isn't a great batsman neither a great bowler.. he is in the team only coz he is captain.. And when you have a weak captain it affects quite badly.. But the manner in which WI team has fought in this match is just wonderful.. I mean just imagine what Indians were doing 10 months back.. They were pathetic.. And look at WI atleast they have something to fight for.. 10/2 and 181 needed.. Last day if the match.... Anything can happen...

If only they had Narine or Bishoo in the team.. Its high time Gayle and WICB sought out the matters.. Now that RCB are out Gayle has nothing to do.. So better bring him and Narine right away in next Test match...
