Thanks a lot for the info. I saw some sites on the BSNL data card, but they had conflicting information. Can you provide an authoritative link?

BSNL advertised some plans on the 6th of this month. They're offering an unlimited vol. at 3.6 MBPS for about 1450 bucks on the data card. I went to the local BSNL office today, but the lady in charge was on leave, so will try again tomorrow. I also went over to the Tata guys, the best they could offer was a plan of 5 GB at 3.1 MBPS, & unlimited thereafter at 155 K/bit/sec. This costs about 950 per month excluding taxes.
Will check out more ISPs before making a final call. Thanks puys.

If you are looking for great speed with affordable prices, then BSNL is the best. you can check out the plans from there website or call customer care.

If you can compromise on speed, then Tata Photon+ is very good. Also Idea and Reliance are good but slow as compared to BSNL.

So, i would take BSNL.

Reliance has good plans if most of your usage is at night

If you're looking for a pure* unlimited plan then I'd suggest only BSNL.
*I've mentioned pure because many other BB service providers have some hidden plans inside the main plan.For example:- 2 Mbps till 12 GB download and after that only 256 Kbps speed etc.

If you have to choose between these two models only, then overall I'd suggest Dell Inspiron 15R over Acer Aspire 5740 but if you are a gaming freak, then go for Acer because it's ATi GPU is far better than Intel in Dell.
Why don't you consider Lenovo.They have launched some new models with the latest Core i5 processors.

I've lost all faith in Microsoft. The last best thing Microsoft did was copy Apple's Os. And yet they launched their OS before Apple's. How foxy!
IE-8 is a big time let-down and IE-9, IMO, would be a serious ruination to Microsoft's image.

For high end security, use security software's in this combination (Paid Software's):-
Antivirus: - Kaspersky or Eset NOD32 or Bitdefender
Firewall:- Zone Alarm
Antispyware: - Webroot Spysweeper

Note:- You can use above combination in one system for high-end security but your PC/Laptop must have at least 2GB RAM and Intel Core Processor. This also increases your cost because all these are paid software's.

Freeware:-
Antivirus: - Avira or AVG

there is a nice Software called USB DISK SECURITY (its paid) which protects from threats emerging out of pen drives. a nice idea is to manually disable the autorun feature of your removable drives.

I'm using Kaspersky Internet Security for last 4 years and it has never been a headache for me like other antiviruses.I don't say that ESET products are bad but Kaspersky is the most preferable antivirus/Internet Security Software.It runs very smooth on my PC and Laptop too which has only 1 GB of RAM .
I agree with you that NOD32 is not a resource hog but this applies to Kaspersky too.

well.. choosing an antivirus program is not a headache if you know the basics of fixing a virus-infection manually. like my pc was infected the other day. it corrupted my sata drivers and there was BSOD in the SATA mode.. so i switched to compatibility mode. replaced the infected driver with the fresh ones and it was done. we just have to be alert to identify if something's wrong.
lastly, its all a personal wish and love for an antivirus that one has been using ..

I have Windows 7 Ultimate, although it's not original Any major differences between an anti virus and security suite? I'm asking in terms of a common user like me, who mostly surfs the net, chats a bit, plays FIFA, cricket and other flash games, and occasionally some songs, movies, sitcoms etc.

I don't mind paying but I don't want to pay more for a security suite if it only offers a bit extra than an antivirus. And yes, memory is a criteria (i.e. low memory usage)

By now you'd have quite comfortably deduce that more the number of people, more varied will get your options.
From the activities you mentioned, it doesn't seem like you need a heavy anti-virus like Kasper or NIS or NOD or any other 'paid' AV. Trust me, all paid versions are memory hog and will certainly slow down your PC performance sooner or later.
I'll suggest you to have the following free-ware applications that are best in their respective domain and are as good as any paid shit. I put all my shirts on the fact that you'll never ever experience any performance and security issues hereby.

Anti-virus:
-Avira AntiVir (has the best detection rate, light on resources. That's all what you want an AV to do, don't you?)
Do not keep more than one AV.
Different Av do conflict.

Anti-spyware:
-Spybot(Has Real-time protection.)
-SuperAntiSpyware (It doesn't)
Keep at least two AS. Above two are the most recommended.
Different AS do not conflict.

Anti-malware:
-Malwarebytes Anti-malware
Just one AM is sufficient.
Different AM do conflict.

Run-time Firewall:
-Comodo Internet Security. (Do not install AV. Follow the instructions closely and you'll have absolutely no trouble whatsoever.)
-MSE. (Prefer this only if you're a Microsoft fanatic! To me, it sucks and Apple rules!)

Site-advisor:
-WOT(for Chrome, Apple and Firefox users.)

System Cleaner:
-AdvanceSystemCare
-C Cleaner

With all these application I betcha your PC will be as safe as houses!
And I'd suggest not to spend a bomb on these paid versions that are better with just little margin.

I'm not very sure whether you're talking of Office 2010 release version or the beta version but if you're talking of the beta one, I'm pretty much satisfied with it and have been using it for many months now (in fact, I downloaded it the time Microsoft made it free to download). Didn't find much difference performance wise. In fact, the options are better grouped in Office 2010 than 2007.

By the way, does the Office 2010 Beta expire on Oct 31, 2010?? Read it somewhere on the net.

I was talking about MS OFFICE 2010 release version on a Windows 7 OS which is running in a 3 year old IBM laptop with 1 GB of RAM and Dual Core processor.

Don't know the answer to your question but on a related issue, I am using the trial version of NOD32 v4 and it's going fine so far, also read some good reviews about it on the net. Was thinking of buying a license once the trial period gets over.

You can go for it but don't buy NOD32 antivirus, purchase it's full security suite i.e. 'Eset Smart Security'.ESET products are good but Kaspersky Internet Security is better than ESET.Kaspersky runs bit heavier than ESET in your system but detection wise, KIS is the best.Bitdefender is also a very good antivirus product but it has been a resource hog since few years and I consider it in the category of NORTON.Overall I can say that, Kaspersky is the best pick.Either go for KIS or ESET SMART Security.Anyone among these two is a good choice but don't think about any other security product.Rest depends on your choice.

I've some issues with Kaspersky Internet Security latest Build i.e. KIS v11.0.1.400
Most of my excel files hang at the time of saving.After that task manger also stops working and I've to restart my PC directly using ON/OFF switch.But everything works like a charm in the preceding Build i.e. KIS v11.0.1.232

I only wanna know whether I'm only the person who is facing this issue or there is someone else who have been facing the same problem.

Yes, it does expire on Oct 31,2010.
Although, it did expire on March 23, 2010 on one of chums' machine. Don't know why!

What poor Vista can do if the Office, or for that matter any other application, in itself is imitative or corrupt?
And I respectfully cross swords with you on Office 2010(both beta and release) eating up the memory. For me it works a treat.
From memory addressing to performance setting, everything has been well-addressed to make Office 2010 run smoothly and effectively in both the versions (32 bit & 64 bit) of Windows 7.
However one limitation that I think should be overcome is to tag a 'back' button in Office 2010. Rest, all is damn well!

hi i have a query regarding my PC. I have windows vista home premium with MS Office 2003.. of late, my PC has become very slow, the Internet explorer has stopped working and gives an error msg 'Date Execution Prevention'
Now, any Office files (word or excel) i download from the web do not open. 'This copy of MS Word is not genuine' pops up at the start of every Word file i open.(even though my software is genuine) So i tried to format my PC today but it isn't responding to the CD too.(And not reverting back to the previous Recovery point even by MS Recovery Manager)
Please suggest what to do. Thanks

Formatting an OS is totally a separate operation that starts after booting a PC with the support of CD/DVD and there's no connection with currently installed OS and any third party software's.I think the CD/DVD you're using to format is either corrupted or there might be some reading issue in your CD/DVD ROM.I suggest you to try with any other bootable disk.Any software including OS can't stop booting operation of any CD/DVD.Insert your OS CD/DVD into the drive and boot your PC by it's support.

hi i have a query regarding my PC. I have windows vista home premium with MS Office 2003.. of late, my PC has become very slow, the Internet explorer has stopped working and gives an error msg 'Date Execution Prevention'
Now, any Office files (word or excel) i download from the web do not open. 'This copy of MS Word is not genuine' pops up at the start of every Word file i open.(even though my software is genuine) So i tried to format my PC today but it isn't responding to the CD too.(And not reverting back to the previous Recovery point even by MS Recovery Manager)
Please suggest what to do. Thanks

Well, that's because your Office copy is not genuine, simple as that. Unfortunately, you have a counterfeit copy of Office 2003 installed on your machine. The license or product key was never issued by Microsoft and was perhaps created by a software counterfeiter using an illegal product key generator or Key-Gen.
Either if you know the procedure then download Office 2010 with crack or activator, or purchase a genuine copy of Office 2010.

But in case if you wanna continue with your Office 2003, chances of which are quite bleak, then with the help of an activator or serial generator that came along with your Office 2003 copy you can generate the license and enter the key and validate the copy. And do not forget to disable your anti-virus before beginning this process. In case if it hasn't, download from torrentz. But, mind you, this solution isn't the long time solution and the same issue may irk you again in future.

So I'd suggest you to buy genuinely genuine copy of Office 2010.

Google this week celebrated Chrome's second birthday by launching the sixth version of its browser for Windows, Mac, and Linux.

Chrome 6, which Google released into its "stable" channel -- the upgrade mechanism for the production-quality version -- also included patches for 16 vulnerabilities and another crack at fixing a Windows kernel bug that affected the browser.

"The last couple of years we've been focused on speed," said Brian Rakowski, Chrome's director of product management. Google has introduced a new feature today, to combat email overload.
Priority inbox is a beta feature that splits your inbox into three sections: Important and unread, Starred and Everything else. The system enables Gmail to automatically flag messages as important. Gmail uses a variety of signals to predict which messages are important, including the people you email most and which messages you open and reply to. As you continue to use Gmail it will get better at categorizing messages for you.
If you think this feature seems familiar then you're not wrong. Hotmail recently introduced a similar feature which allows you to "sweep" your inbox clear of clutter. Although Microsoft's implementation is less automated, it's also trying to solve inbox clutter.

Well i have been facing a similar problems while getting the files back, i used a tune up too.
The criteria to recover the old files in a good condition :
1. the time span in which the files were deleted.
2. whether u have used defrag before or after deletion of the files.
3. whether the files were infected.

so if any of this answers in a negative manner it would adverse the quality..

for the solution part u cud try recovering the other files u could luckily recover the file u want, although chances are dim i wouldn say no.

it must have happened so that u r files have been overwritten so the problem.

Finally I had to delete all music folders. And then...I installed RadioSure.
Unlimited songs and no memory sacrifice.

Well there are a few mounting softwares/ emulators available to run Mac on Windows.. You can search for them on google..
But I had tried it and my system became heavily unstable...
So try this thing at your own risk, windows and mac might not run properly together..

1. Download the font file. Click here to Download.

2. Copy the file to C:\Windows\Fonts directory.(for Windows XP users)

Just try to reset your BIOS by removing the CMOS battery for 1 minute and then putting it back.

Just noticed that when I apply Personas, the minimize, maximize and close buttons disappear I didn't notice it earlier because I use keyboard shortcuts to perform these tasks. Looks like there are quite a few issues to be resolved with this version. Would continue testing

Just did some actual testing on the addons of Firefox v4b1 Since almost all the addons are incompatible with this version at present, I had to install an addon 'Compatibility Reporter', using which I could use any addons and report whether they are compatible with this version or not. Just restarted once after installing 'Compatibility Reporter' and restarted again to enable all my previously used addons.

Once I restarted again, bam!!!! FF opened numerous tabs, multiple links and what not, and after some time, it crashed :-P Felt a strange happiness that I could crash it I tried to start FF again and again but it kept crashing after a few seconds.

Finally my luck came through and I first disabled the 'Compatibility Reporter' and then all other addons. Restarted again, enabled 'Compatibility Reporter' and enabled one of the addons and tested its working. Similarly, tested other addons by enabling them keeping others disabled. Sent quite a few reports too Only a few addons were compatible (seemed to be) whereas others were not :

Had to restart FF a lot many times just to enable/disable addons but it was quite a lot of fun Applied some personas too, seem to be working fine at the moment. What I didn't like is that 'DownThemAll' isn't compatible : Really like that addon and hope FF come out with a replacement soon.

Anyone else testing FF v4b1??

I had read about this on one of the reviews but didn't find it very helpful. I don't really need to find a tab actually, I just look up to see which is the active tab, and to just look and tell is a bit difficult in this version. Hope you understood my problem now.
