avinashashukla posted 04:40 AM, 28 Jul '09 Hi, I am an Indian citizen with a L1 visa and work in Amdocs Inc. in Chesterfield, STL, MO and have a total experience of more than 5 years in IT. I have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from India (12 + 3 yrs of education). I am interested in the Dual MBA in IT and Marketing in US as i want to write business requirements for clients based on the market situations. Can someone let me know whether am I eligible with 15 yrs of education in India or I have to complete one more year of the education to make it 16 yrs before becoming eligible for any MBS courses in the university? As well in case if I have to pursue a course for a year then is it possible to get the list of courses which when done will be helpful for admission. In addition, if some one can provide the list of colleges in US, then I will contact them myself. Thanks a lot in advance. Best Regards, Avinash -

MartianOnEarth posted 05:40 PM, 27 Jul '09 On the work culture front: The 'culture' will be different for sure. But can't say that for sure about the 'work culture'. It is likely to be different assuming you aren't working in a team that's made up predominantly of others like you who've been recruited for internship from India. I've known entire project groups moving across continents and spending most of their working hours in each others' company. So the timings, the food, the jokes, the sentiments...none of that changed. Let's hope that's not going to be the case with you and you'll get the diverse experience that you are looking forward to. -

MartianOnEarth posted 03:24 PM, 27 Jul '09 Anand: If you've already got into a good company, then it makes sense to continue there for a decent amount of time. Roles and responsibilities keep changing over time. If you've been recruited with a certain profile in mind, then go with it for a while. However talk to your manager and keep him posted about your long term goals. Chart out a career plan over the next 2-4 years. If you are good at Unix now, that experience will still show in your resume if you join a b-school and get back into the job market. You'd be better off trying to build a supporting set of capabilities in team leading, basic project management, scoping, designing, assisting other teams when you have the time. If you have the potential, you will get noticed. An MBA will not solve these problems. Solve them first to the extent possible and then get into the MBA program, so you have many more options when you graduate. All the best. -

Winds_of_change posted 01:35 PM, 27 Jul '09 Hi there found so many interesting experiences out there.Well thought I would share out my story. A rather unusual story:) considerig it is having heartbreak with the same person twice I had done my schooling in convent till my 8th standard and had to leave the city after that and go to a small town to complete schooling(My Das had a transfer).Soon afterwards I joined a tution and after a few days saw this boy whom I found to be irritating. He seemed to be the one who was ready to pick up fights and all. Slowly our friendship grew and I found out that he was a whiz at maths of some sort. After a few months cupid struck.(As they say they stuck when you least expect it to)It was a heady feeling. Soon it was time for the board exams and by this time by this time I was in love head over heels.By this stime I was in a dilema over whether I had do my +2 or move to another school.I decided on the second because that was the crucial time for me to make my career and I did not want to be dist... hothead0272 posted 05:36 PM, 24 Jul '09 its understandable that so many cricketers being discussed as it is an Indian board. But what is not understandable is the limited knowledge of different sports and their personalities being discussed. it must be because we Indians have limited exposure to sports. My personal favorite is "Valentino Rossi". Greatest sportsperson should have the attributes of 1. exceptional talent 2. consistency 3. perform under adverse conditions 4. perform under pressure 5. perform at the highest level 6. perform throughout his carrier 7.never or very rarely lose 8. an aura of invincibility i.e. audience must be convinced that come whatever may he will emerge victor. 9. should command respect of rivals 10. should be loved by the audience. Now i will discuss some sportsmen already being discussed here. Michael Shumacher- In F1 a lot depends on the car package. ferrari is one of the top teams in F1 so it dilutes some greatness of Schumi. He lost to Mika 2 times and also to Alonso. So he may be the... Read More » -

mbaquestionmark posted 02:03 PM, 22 Jul '09 hello ppl, Probably this is not the right forum to ask my question.. or probably not the right website at all.. but just wanted to try it here as there should be a lot of people who ve seen a lot of different personalities of people pursuing MBA and a lot of post MBA career types.. Request to Moderators : If you dont find this is in the appropriate forum, please move it to the right one.. If you feel this is an inapproriate question to be put in any forum in this site, I dont mind discontinuing this thread, but any help regarding where such a counselling is offered is highly appreciated.. thanks.. My question is, will an MBA and a post MBA career suite my kind of a person.. or putting it otherwise, are MBA careers only for those outgoing, partying kind of people, people who are charming etc etc.. ?? Can people who are kind of reserved and are more comfortable in 1-2-1 interactions, generally not percieved as the social types, but can attack a problem from the right angle and ... Read More » -
