hey...i am new on pagal guy so need ur help guys!!!! i want to know what books should i read on advertising and media management.as i am a bcom hons graduate so before attend such a school wud like to read some relevant books n get a insight on terminology etc...i had cleared iimc written ds yr bt dint get thru gdpi,so wud like to upgrade my knowledge by reading books!!!

Shekhar is right. I would like to add the following-
1. Placement is not guaranteed. If you are not placed you are doomed. Most of the guys who are place joins TOI as Senior Officer - Ad Sales department @ 2.62 lpa, with high target variable pay.
2. Others from institute like **** and Amity joins as Officer and gets double salary. Now imagine working half the salary of your junior.
3. Earlier, principal was Mr. Vispy R Saher who had a good hold in TOI. So everyone used to get place. He retired in 2008, and now placement is not guaranteed.
4. You can join TSM at your risk, If you get place with TOI, you will get a good launch pad in media ad sales else you will be doom 100%,

As per as other programs goes you can consider the following -
1. EMPI - Advertising program
2. National Institute of Advertising

Remember even after passing out from these schools you will join an advertising agency at a maximum salary of 10k as Management Trainee. Wiser thing would be to approach them directly and work as MT.

hi.. it does not matter whether it is AICTE approved or not unless you are applying for a PSU i believe. the main point is that it is recognized well by the industry. that is something that i have verified from varies sources. my cousin also did the course 10 years back and he has been in some good media house ever since.

what worries me is that the salary is pretty low. for that you can apply in outside companies which is the case with few students(who are successful in it).

also my story is a quite different and i have given only few exams which are little known as i was preparing for the next year. but now i have different plans. i think if you want you can go to the institute itself and sort out the issues with the students. it will be very helpful. or you can contact me at 9811679240, if you want.

I want to suggest one thing to all u guys....College is good and it course structure is no different from structures of other B-school. Just that u have to do it in a year. Moreover once u get some exp no one asks for ur degree, ur exp and knowledge counts. One more thing as a fresher don expect to get a very high end salary, even in B-school like MDI. FMS and others half the batch is of experience guys n so the salary too, only few of the freshers get the salary's of high end i.e. 9-10 lakh pa. One more thing from TSM u guys are getting pacakge not CTC while most B-schools give CTC. So dats a good enough amount as a fresher in just a year. I worked with TOP IT MNC for 2.5 years and my initial was 14K in hand and now when i left that for a B-school its 27K in hand. So just chill and do well in course, the same i suggested to my bro who will be joining u guys.

I gave the entrance on the 30th and cleared it....its GMAT format...so more stress on the vocab...u have couple of short essays to write in the end...quant is considerably very easy(basic stuff)...please read up current issues coz lot of GK questions too...there is negative marking too so u better write the essays :D

All in all very easy to crack...so best of luck!

I am really interested in Marketing Research / Product and Brand Management in the marketing domain . But my work experience is in IT (18 Months) . What is the average salary offered ?

Salary depends on your Work Ex. Interest, Perfromance, and the company you join as in Times Group Print , Times Internet Limited , Radio Mirchi, Times Now, Zoom, Times Business Solutions - Timesjobs.com etc...
However, a graduate from TSM enjoys a package higher than most people with perhaps a bt more of experience also in Media. Every Year the package is revised with the Market Realities and Current Levels in the company.


Who are the recruiters apart from the Times Group during placements ?

Campus placement is invited only from Bennett, Coleman Co Ltd. (BCCL) This however includes all the various companies under the banner i.e. Print, TV, Radio, Internet, Outdoors etc... Also, the placement is done across departments in the company ranging from Sales, Marketing, Stretegy, Private Treaties , Brand etc....


What is the course fee like ?

When i passed out it was Rs. 1.05 Lacs for the entire course which was actually returned to me as a scholarship when i topped the batch. Subsequently its been increased to Rs. 1.25 lacs. Current fees am not sure of. Will call up college tomrorow and post for your reference and ease.

Placements : 100% every Year : Mostly within various companies and departments of The Times Group on merit basis. If you apply outside directly it is also highly recognised. Most probably the guy interviewing you would be a TSM Passout also....

Alumni : Very Credible within the Media Industry as well as the world of Marketing as such.
