THEY CONFIRMED THAT THERE WILL BE NO ADDMISSIONS IN PGP(SM)-MIT THIS YEAR.

THEY CONFIRMED DETAILS ALSO TO SEND BACK MY APPLICATION FEES DD.
THAY WILL RETURN APPLICATION FEES TO ALL IN NEXT 2 WEEKS.

As the above quoted post indicates, the issue is a pretty sensitve one and therefore any public statement on the same needs to be well thought out. The institute has directed us not to speak on the issue until they come out with an official statement.

As far as admissions are concerned, they are currrently withdrawn for the academic year. And we do not see this changing after the official statement is out. So please wait patiently for the statement which should be out in a few days.

Again there is no reason to express agitation at the delay in the statement since the content of the statement will not in any way affect the position of the admissions.

The application fee will be returned to you via cheques shortly. A e-mail which clarifies that procedure and stating reasons for withdrawal of admissions will reach the applicants soon.

All the best for the future, we sincerely hope that all of you make it through to a top B-school.

There must be lots of factors why ISB/Great Lakes are not on the radar...having the right political friends for one helps a lot...!! Also, the TOI article on a student of MIT programme earning 15 lakhs without AICTE approval must have stung the AICTE dear..!!

Also, the college must have asked the seniors not to speculate on our forum before a formal announcement is done...cant blame them..!!!

I was wondering why the MDI programme for International Management does not come in the AICTE list.I think the the SP Jain MIT programme and the PGPIM programme of MDI are quite similar in terms of how they are administered...

The following is an excerpt from the MDI website for the IM programme :-

"MDI Gurgaon in 2006 launched a unique, first of its kind programme in India - the Post Graduate Programme in International Management (PGPIM). This is one of the efforts made by MDI to develop managers with appropriate mindset and ability to work in global markets. The programme was launched in collaboration with European School of Management (ESCP-EAP), France. The unique dual degree programme is delivered partly in India (MDI) and partly in Europe (ESCPEAP campuses). The first phase of the programme is delivered on MDI Campus, at Gurgaon. The second phase of the programme is delivered in Europe at the London/Paris campuses (English Track)."

now contrast this with what is mentioned in the SPJIMR website regarding the MIT programme :-

"Post Graduate Diploma in Systems Management (PGDSM) & Masters in Information Technology (MIT) is a unique program offered by SPJIMR in collaboration with Virginia Tech (VT), USA. This unique collaboration resulted in the pioneering concept of PGDSM MIT, a two year globally focused dual degree program in systems management, which has now established its firm footing in the industry."

Now aren't these two quite similar or am I missing something?

Puys!! An autonomous body can get its own course live...for which it may or may not need AICTE approval. However, for a dual degree the AICTE can come into picture...for your your info AICTE uses the same stick for GLAKES and ISB as well.

As for SPJain is concerned they can still go ahead and run this course....

The website says the following..........

"Apply Online Admissions closed for PGDSM-MIT 2008-10."

there is no notification of any postponement or cancellation, i think we should let an official notification come out, before sleding either SPJIMR or the AICTE.........after all the former is one of the best b-schools in the country n the latter is a body that is there for the purpose of maintaining the standards of higher education............none of us is a member of either body and as such we should all act judiciously, cos we are not aware of the circumstances that prompted these actions.........



I know that it is frustrating for all of us, but nevertheless it is no excuse to behave in the way we are doing right now, and i call for a bit of patience and a little restraint.........

Completely agree...if there;s a AICTE regulation it shud affect the current program as well..bt then students say that it will not impact them.....and evn i am not expecting anything else than "due to unavoidable circumstances........" ... and this is nt something one expects from one of the best institutes of the country....

naa buddy ur wrong....they must have got over 2000 applications for 60 odd seats...also this is a highly specialised course, so only people interested shall apply...!!!

Its the AICTE wrestling its powers...and showing its "might"..they just cant see how a program can offer students 15 lakhs/annum without their approval ??!!!

If tht's case then why dont they exercise their muscles on ISB / Great Lakes or for that purpose why didnt they exercise these muscles and powers last time around or even this year before admissions...there were words by admission reps themselves that they dont really care about AICTE approvals as long as industrial receptivity is there....lets wait for the official confirmation...no point in speculating anything....

hey guys...just a thought which crossed my mind and i thought of sharing the same with you..i dont see AICTE approval thing impacting SP Jain a great deal..the same proff's and representatives made a mention that AICTE's approval does nt impact us..one of the senior said even ISB is not approved and all that stuff...bt all this was pre application thing...Now how come all of a sudden AICTE has interfered and banned this course...Moreover there is no clarity from SP Jain over this... someone said that the admissions have been deferred this year..someone said that the admissions have been delayed by couple weeks....I see some other reason ... may be there werent enough of competitive applications for the program...SPJain is among the better insti in the country and will never admit students just for the sake of going ahead with the program.....

Now lets see how do they come back formally on this...eagerly awaiting a formal communication from SPJain.....

Isnt that too harsh a statement to making out of any norms.. :infinity:... i called up the admissions office and this is what i was told...what if the lady on the other side was wrong??????? i think some of yr norms and regulations needs a reconsideration else a lot of ppl like me might end up getting 'immediatly banned' tag for sharing information...

On the lighter note, i will prefer getting banned if it means that the admissions are on this year...i was really eager for this course :frown:

Final hopes of making to a top tier institute - shattered.
Jus now called up spjain Adcom-office. They said "admission for MIT course is stopped - for this year!".

But didn't inquire about the refund of the application fee

and they said "it is confirmed now that admission for this course is stopped and they will refund reg fees"

I just called up the admissions office. I didn't tell anything about what I have heard about the banning of the course. Just asked her about when can we expect the shortlist. She said it will be within 2 weeks. Any further update will be put on the site after 2 weeks.

All of us are waiting with bated breath to hear something positive from you. Please respond. This is a wonderful course and banning of it by AICTE is a real bad news for all of us. I just hope all these are rumours and finally many of us join this course this year.

A lot of users have been commenting that they feel its unnecessary to close threads. What they dont realise is that once students have to start waiting for the admission list, they only end up posting and the likes. While posts like these help that poster vent frustration it serves no purpose to the next user. And that is the bigger picture we are looking at. Next year, the next batch of students will come and at some point scroll through dozens of these "waiting for the list" posts. It is annoying to all concerned.

From the time i closed the thread, to the time i opened it, was there anything useful that could have been said? I posted the few updates as soon as i got them.

I respect ur thoughts buddy, but then what abt the IMT Ghaziabad thread....the last 100 posts have been only abt " when shall the WL be updated ?? Can I get my fee receipt ??n other stuff "...take a look there too..!!!

Fingers crossed. The fee is really immaterial. I wish some research was done by the institute prior to the application being issued.

I wanted to update that now S.P. Jain PGDSM-MIT admissions have been postponed by 2-3 weeks. I confirmed this on phone. Also, their office said to keep checking the website for any updates.
