When is IIT Mumbai form coming out?

hi seniors,
i have a big question in my mind. my graduation percentage is low with 64.4. is there any chance of geting in to IIT's MBA programm. please give reply .
i am in lot of confusion

Hi. I got a mail on 13th July, 2012 that I have converted and it had details regarding fees and classes. I was told to send the dd and confirm the same by 17th July,2012.

And may they have more lists as I'm not joining and there can be others too.

I am in dilemma as I have already taken admission in DMS IIT-D. Now it looks like I will get a calll from SJMSOM too. Never thought I will get a call so did not research that on both the colleges.
@fellow aspirants,
please share your research for both colleges if any.

can u plz tell me what makes SJMSOM a standout college and plz do not mention the info easily available on net.

I do not want to compare both colleges just want to know their strenghts and weaknesses individually?

Would suggest u to join the som fb group and go thru the threads ..seniors have given all the points as to why som is a very good option ..:)

In order to expedite the waitlist movement, the time period given for submission of fees henceforth would be 3-4 days.

Therefore, we advise you to regularly check the website for updates on waitlist movement. We also advise the first 15-20 students in General & OBC-NC category to start arranging the fees amount as the time period for paying the fees would be only 3-4 days.

We also request all the waitlisted candidates, who get the admission in the subsequent waitlists, to send the scanned copy of acceptance letter and the demand draft along with the Dispatch details (courier/ speed post/ registered post docket number) to admissions@som.iitb.ac.in

SJMSOM is a great school. Probably in the top 10-12.

However, you being a fresher and having such a good job in hand makes me believe that you have a decent to good profile, and so your risk of trying again is mimimised. So I feel you should take another crack and try to make it to a top 5-6 school.

Also working for a year will add a lot to you as a person and will increase the take away from an MBA. Also it may be relevant work ex, and so will add a lot to your CV as well. So there are enough reasons to suggest that you should not rush your MBA if you ask me

Hi,

Yes, further movement is expected and there is a good chance that you will convert it in the next list. As for your dilemma, it depends on a lot of factors, such as your present job profile and area of interest. Looking beyond numbers, many students quit PSUs for an MBA as they want to go for a more dynamic work culture and bigger responsibilities. If you are happy with your current job responsibility then quitting it for an MBA should be reconsidered. Your undergrad college is only one of the criteria for companies in placements. Domain knowledge, academic record from 10th and relevant work ex are also important. To sum it up, an IITian gets a couple of opportunities more than others, but its upto him/her to convert them. For a small batch strength we do have significant number of students who have graduated from IITs (same profile as yours, look up student profiles on SOM website). Its entirely your personal call. If you wanna know anything specific, you may PM me. I hope I answered the rest.

I have a cgpa of 6.73(67.3%) and my B.Tech degree qualifies this as second class.My doubt is,am I eligible for IITB where they ask for '60% or first class' as given in their selection criteria.Please clear the air,it would be a relief to know which colleges I am eligible to.

Hi,

Irrespective of the class awarded by your university, IITB considers only aggregate percentage/CGPA of four years. If your aggregate CGPA is 6.73, then you are eligible for admission into IITB.

Hi,

Freshers get equal opportunities in placements as students with work ex. There are very few companies which prefer freshers to work ex or vice versa. If this is your concern, then I would say its not a problem at all. Coming to your present job offer at Flipkart, talk to the ppl in company and find out what exactly your responsibilities are going to be. Depending on your interests, you can take a call on whether or not you should join the company. If you already have the details of the job, PM me I will be able to give you a better picture.

Buddy it all depends on whether u have the aptitude for cat again ..especially given the dicey nature of cat...introspect on wid ur acads what all iims u can crack ...plus whether the job that u have is the one u really want to work ...som is also a good option but going for cat again is not a bad option either ...ultimately it boils down to u and only u ..best of luck for whatever u choose...

For oppurtunities i wouls suggest u to post in fb as seniors here are not active..although except for lateral placements all other jobs should be open for u too...

I converted in 6th list from NC OBC. Not Joining. :cheers:

But I would say, if you are an IIT pass out, better try next year for IIMs. IIMs love IITians. With all due respect to SOM, I feel you are better off having another go at CAT :)
