In my suggestion wl movement cannot be predicted. But if u r sure u wont be going to NITIE whether or not u get SOM, then u may take that call.

A college senior of mine told me that there is an incubation cell in SOM and it is like a wow thing for those who have ideas and need investment. Batch size is a factor but the incubation cell is the X-factor.

One of the seniors from SOM (vasisht) posted this comment in PG ranking's article.
This comment has a mention of Incubation Cell. Also, the comments gives some other nice perspectives about SOM. Have a look:

i dont have a liberty to choose...but had i been in your position..i wud have chosen SJMSOM...for the following reasons:
1) Look at the placement report of SJMSOM..its very well balanced across all verticals..NITIE being best for ops..u will have to put in a lot fight if u intend to go for Fin/Mark (i am not saying u wont be able to)
2) IIT brand name..and it comes with a lot of opportunities...and u can be a bart of all the activies in the IIT..
3) While attending the presentation at SJMSOM on GD/PI day..i figured out that industry interaction is best in SJMSOM among all the institues i attended for GD/PI..

PS: This is my personal opinion...plz talk to the seniors of both the colleges before you final decision...

Both are good colleges dude.. Don't worry dude both are good options. IF you are interested in operations go for NITIE and also fee is less for NITIE.IIT-B is good for FINANCE. placements wise both are good.

Am WL 12 now. So, all those wait list movement of other colleges I had posted earlier did have an effect Really happy to see the movement. A net movement of just 1. Could never have imagined it. Hope nothing goes wrong from here on in. 20 more seats to go and am WL 12 (32 on the merit list). That's a ratio of 1.6!

in a recent pm conversation with sushantthakur he also mentioned a similar figure for the movement.... only his was slightly higher at 17....
hope it moves by 32+.... that way we both clear... :)

Ok guys. All set for another wl movement today night. All the best to all of you guys who are waiting eagerly. I was just bored last night and was going through some other college threads which might have an influence on the wl movement at som.

IIM Indore has had a movement of 176 (146 on the first list and 30 yesterday). By far the largest movement of all colleges. If waitlisters like us hope to clear, we should bet on those 176 and hope they had a som convert or where ahead of us on the wl at som :)

Mdi has had a movement of 98. If it goes according to the trend last few years, it should move by another 100 in the coming days.

Fms has had a movement of 5. (There is a guy / girl who has posted in the fms thread regarding the fms movement. Its very comprehensive study. According to him / her, fms list generally moves more closer to the registration day and has been happening from past 2 years. There are reasons mentioned for it as well . Hope and pray that it happens this time too)

Iim k has had a movement of 10.

Iim Lucknow (31st), iim c (29th), iim rohtak (29th) have all had movements, but, I don't know the exact number.

Iim b has moved till 62. But, this was on 22nd . So, if at all it has helped us , it should reflect in today's movement.

SP jain has made new offers last week. But, there wl movement is complete (that's what their thread says).

I am hoping that the movement is around 15 today. Fingers crossed.

PS : All this is for general category. I am currently wl 32 at som.

I think no need of this much analysis for ur W/L rank. U can surely convert in the W/L which will come after JUNE 15 th. My W/L is currently 88 where are my chances ? what is ur expectation on W/L movement in the final ?

I really don't know if I will convert or not. All these predictions are just indications. Anyway, WL 88 would have to wait a bit more longer I guess considering the trend of the last 3 WL movements.Hope you clear. I also saw your post on the MDI thread sometime back. Not the right thread to discuss , but, I am sure you have a strong chance there too for PGPM. All the best man.

I was in your shoes a few days back, i chose SOM over NITIE. Talked to seniors from both colleges and took the decision. Reasons may differ from person to person, but i would advice SOM.

Buddy as u must be knowing even now ..nitie is predominantly known for ops ...so if intrsted in ops then definitely nitie ..also low fees ..but on the other hand ...high batch size is a disadvantage..also talk to vision sir for more details of nitie ...som advantages u must be knowing so no pint telling it again :grin:..best of luck for ur decision ..agar som chodoge to hum jaise w/lers ki dua milegi ...but talk to both set of seniors again and then take a decision..cheers

@ others who would convert in next lists : try to deposit the dd in person. else use dhl. speed post is a little sluggish in updating the status. never experienced this problem before. also saturday was holiday for iit bombay. that may have caused the inconvenience.
