Well ... After a long long contemplation here I have decided to put my nomination for SBT 11. Before I state the relevant information here something apparently irrelevant. This is for those who follow PG so I am writing it here. Those who do not follow this thread do not matter and those who matter follow this thread apart from other DTs

I was(and still is) a part of KDT '10 and it was a great experience for a guy like me who had not seen so many ambitious people around him. The confidence people had in each other was amazing. Quite ironic it is that we were into a cut throat competition which can change our lives once and for all. It made me more confident about myself and in a word I have 'grown'.

But before the season started (I am talking about mocks) I decided not be a part of such a team where people can leave a top 10 college for the no. 1 as I am not in the position to justify my place(subject to my selection obviously). Neither I blame the circumstances nor myself. And that was the reason not to put any nominations for any 'dream team'. So my aspirations have been subsided regarding the institute but the goal has not and it won't. If the selectors feel this is good enough 'attitude' to at least consider my name, it's good and if not, fair enough.

Now the nomination part :
Why I want to be in the team ?
I am flattered to see my name in so many posts. I'll be honest that I expected a few but certainly not that many . This is one of the reasons why I want to be in this team. And another reason is the nominations of Tanveer sir and Hemanth sir. Believe me with due respect to the mentors and coaches of Dream teams SBT will be the most fortunate team if they have people like them. I have met Tanveer sir quite a few times and I can guarantee that it would be great opportunity for SBT if he is there to mentor SBT. No words for Hemanth sir, he might not like to hear the word 'Quant God' but for me he is definitely a 'Guru' and as they say 'Guru' has an upper position that 'Parents'. And woh gaana to suna hi hoga "Dharti pe roop maa baap ka us bidhata ki pehchan hai".

Why I should be in the team ?
This will be the only team where all the people know each other.Other team forms after the selector posts the XI+II but the SBtians are a team even before the nomination has started.
Most importantly its criteria is much more than just few non integers in the range 99<=100 posted on mock repository thread ;)(No offense to anyone just to spice it up :D).

Now after the last lecture should not I be in the team ?

Past Academics :
I have an application rating of 6 out of 33 for IIM A and a score of 7/10 according to IIM C's criteria.

X - 73 (WB state board), due to my negligence
XI- 76 (WB state board ), not that bad as it seems when you have to face two papers a day , 6 hours of writing with one hour break ;).
Degree- 58 (64% for the topper)

After a lot of cogitation ( and yeh add some stringent daily meditation to that too :-P ) I have finally decided to nominate I, me and myself (do I earn 3 places in the side for playing stupid ) for Shout Boxer's Team 2011 ( dont just think that only the title of the wackiest and coolest team did me, of course it helped )
Before the selectors turn grumpy and ponder on defenestrating my nomination and in turn my chance (if any ) to be a part of this revered ( yeh SB and likewise SBT is a place of worship for people like me who are ardent practitioners of omphaloskepsis and love to be characterised as quidnuncs ) team, I think I should go ahead and put my pomposity and rodomontade skills into effect :grin:

The slightest thought of nominating myself creates the occurrence of borborygmus every now and then. But as rightly said by some one ( that some one is Henry James :-P ) that "life is, in fact, a battle" and you have to keep fighting throughout, winning or losing is something which should never be a matter of importance once you decide to fight ( I some how manage to end up always, yes you read it right, always on the losing side ).
So after gathering enough courage ( although one may title me as a pusillanimous person but yeh I can also act brave sometimes ) I have decided for the nomination.
A little bit about me, I am Donald Mardi ( yeh I know a title of Sir to go with my name would have sounded lofty and majestic but dont worry I'm working on it ), trying to survive somehow ( all that I desire is peace and pleasure, my friends know that I'm an ardent follower of epicurus ) and every time I try to think my mind tells me that'

I have seen multiple nominations for different teams till date and have found more often than not that people put only their mock performances or past academic or CAT achievements before the selectors as a tool for selection. I some how dont concur to that recipe as a genuine parameter to judge ones capabilities to be in a team. Yes I acquiesce that scores and past performances are very important but I also strongly believe that you need some thing more to be in a team and perform. After all your success wont have any meaning if you are the only successful person in the team, so being regular and helping the team to achieve quality so that they can outshine others on the D-day is also an equally important parameter according to me. But anyways as profile coupled with past achievements form an indispensable part for selection I wouldn't keep the selectors waiting anymore for the same

last year i fought with my dad to give me a chance to appear in cat so reluctantly he agreed i did tuition mock CATs prac exercises etc etc ( i sort of studied)
gave 4 papers - cat / xat / iift / fms
got 99%ile in 1 section & got 70-75%ile in other section of cat & xat so both did not worked out for me
got gd pi call from fms(my biggest achievement so far in attempt for mba) but could not convert it

& the only thing i had on my mind was after results & all the hoopla was over was the first ques they asked me in my fms interview -

beta how many paper r left in ur CA??
(yes i m a movie buff & i m not an engineer - in my fms gd/pi batch of 40 students i proudly stood as lone b com grad between b e/b tech people - but none the less could not convert it into an advantage for me)

so this may cleared by pcc & will be appearing in final papers for CA in may 2012
so i m honestly admitting for me CAT 2011 is just a practice match (i m doing no coaching no MOCKCATs not even opened the books till now:banghead::banghead:) but see the thing is i do not like bad marks on my score card :shock:(well atleast scored 93%ile last yr do not want it to turn other way around)

so taking me on the team might seem to be a stupid decision to few as i know how seriously PGs take the holy CAT & i won't be giving my 100% this year but i thought may be this corpse can lay his weight on shoulders of his team mates & may be by a little push can reach to atleast the thresholds of IIM doors

I realized that how important can pagalguy is in the life and i am sure its not just me, its all of us who love and consider this forum our second home . It has given me some life time friends with whom i can be just myself and no point for guessing I met most of them on SB only and all those biggies on PG i know them just because of SB Wouldn't have gathered courage to add such biggies ever or to talk to them
I believe actions speak louder than words.I know that I am indeed an ordinary but i know in my heart i have it in me and i will make it big Not everyone has this conviction being a ordinary or a low profile person

We have been using SB for various discussions, for helping out newbies and other members, etc...Being the part of this team means a lot to me....SB is a part of life and its my addiction

Now, Why me ?

Have been very active on PG ( barring last week, ghar gaya tha yaaron.. ) and active in most of the threads. Have been gradually improving in each of the sections and need constant motivation from fellow puys and I still believe that I have it in me to reach there so that I could MAKE IT LARGE (on a lighter note).
But seriously, have made a lot of friends on PG who have given their best to help me improve and did a lot of bakar too .. (Regular visitors to PoH threads might know me well .. )

I joined PG long time back, but wasn't active though initially. Gradually, I became hyper-active () and realised that PG has become an inevitable part of my life. The moment I open the browser, the first page I visit would be PG (ok, first would be FB, and second PG .. :D, honestly) and now, it feels like home to me.
Again, my aim of being a part of this team is not to achieve high scores (mere numbers) but to interact with some of the most passionate puys and make the journey a memorable one. (As they say, destiny is not important, make the journey a memorable one). Being a part of SB team will definitely help me in meeting a lot of interesting people and lot of PG big shots too who will keep me going.. will make a lot of friends.. will keep me motivated. I feel, I could reciprocate the same to others as well.

lolz...Wiyh 84 and 71 i think if u manage to hit good enough percentile(99.9+) i think except K,I and S all IIMs have a very good chance to allow you one shot at their buildings


And as you are a girl, This year R,R and some other IIMs have a gender marks addition too. Please refer shortlisting criteria thread for the same.

Regarding other mentioned exam being tougher than Cat, well seats are less so cutoffs nd competitions went up. Please refer old papers for getting the feel of the same.

as far as i know,average acads is a problem basically for CAT(and not the other private exams).also,i have heard that XAT,IIFT,FMS,etc r quite tougher than CAT,thus indicating CAT,2 be the easiest of all(only the good ones) mba entrance exams.hw far are these true?

my prob is wd my acads wch is 84.2%(10th,CBSE) nd 71%(12th,CBSE).i hv heard dat gettn admsn in d top b-schools requires a vry gud acad background.being a freshr(wd no wrk exp)wd an avg profile,i donno whr do i stand,i mean wats d probablty of me makin 2 any of d top 15-20 b-schools evn if m able 2 clear d written test.
ds particular problm keep affecting my enthu/determinatn time 2 time,thus hindering my prep process!

Ofcourse bhai, you are eligible for each and every college barring few IIMs...A guy with 47% in grads made it to XLRI. Your 84 and 71 are good enough. And it is a misconception that they require very good acads(except few IIMs) All you need is a good score and good performance in GD/PI.

practice boy practice....first solve some question, the basic ones, from some coaching insti or some good books. Doing this will help you clear your basics....then analyse mocks as advised by rahicecream.....read newspapers and good books for reading practice. This will help you improve your reading and comprehension skills....also, keep solving a few questions from each section everyday, to keep in touch with basics. lastly, give the mocks as if it is the actual CAT exam....test your perseverance......

See that which questions you aren't able to solve..and try solving them without having any time frame, still if you are not able to, then check the solutions...it seems you aren't analyzing a mock properly...it usually should take 6-8 hours..by doing so, you can easily see the improved results from the next one...

By the way don't take mock on your heart...just take them as fitness exercises and see that which muscles you are finding it difficult to stretch...

P.S- Giving lectures doesn't means one follows them himself

SOP- This will be my second attempt. I hadn't touched even 98%ile score(in mocks) in last 2 years, but I still believe that I can do it and I am trying my best to reach there. But as the motto of this team is not to select only high scorers but also passionate puys who can prove that mock scores are just mere numbers and nothing else and what matters is your determination and your strive for excellence so I think I can live up to this.

1)Vibhatidubey--I guess the shout boxer team will remain incomplete without her..inarguably the most active on SB and very energetic girl and a dreamer...had decent converts in the past..but aiming for higher things.

2) Himspuy--Another puy who was so active on pg/sb that he has to went into an exile for few days..having personally met him..I believe he is a very strong and mature guy...many people often break in such conditions..but he is fighting and fighting it hard...

3)EagleMenace--We share almost same destinies...right from leaving our jobs for CAT..to scoring same marks in CAT and being great cricket fans....and missing everything last year by few marks Another tough guy and his proficiency in QUANTS will immensely help the other members of the team and not to say that one another active member of SB..

4)Subhakimi-- //____________//0 what to say..he should be in the team...one of the few quants god of PG

5,6)spectramind07/rexxar--- 2 another users very active on PG/SB who deserves to be in the team.Both have a common speciality..awesome VA(they can find dozen grammatical errors in this post also)..these two will complete the team in a perfect way...hope they will come forward with their nominations..

7)Arpit90-- Simple, honest and patient guy..any team will need characters like him

two other guy whom I will like to nominate are theairbender and prozium..have always seen them active on pg/sb...moreover they are also experienced candidates...

Ok, so you must have guessed it by the no. of posts now that i am not a newbie here..
Worked for 3 years till 2010 in IT, then quit job for CAT preparation...got dumped..and now preparing for CAT/BANK PO's/ PSU's/ JOBS too..I don't remember how many times i gave CAT, and not sure if i'll give this time too..it will be a late decision..but to continue and to gain the momentum, i desperately need motivation bakar, the environment and the energy that one needs to move forward..;)

I wont write my acad marks and past %les here..because its not about CAT, XAT, BAT, NAT, and FAT...Its about achieving something to move forward in life and i believe to what my status reads..;)

Have found a few like SUX tying me on the gates of SB with a couple of Gold Chains... and Snits and fanta treating me to 10 plates of tandoori chicken along with a lake of VAT69...

trying to zero in on the most cost effective one so that Snits and Fanta spare some bucks to fill the forms

I believe SBT is a very interesting concept, what differentiates the SBTians from DT`s & UDTians is their sheer enthusiasm & passion.
