the fee structure for our batch is somewhere around 7.5 lacs for two years including hostel and mess charges.
as mentioned in the above posts, percentile above 80 or 85 would be safe for getting a call, so wait for the cat results.

As it has been mentioned earlier, there is no dearth of opportunities for an IT engineer in the Energy sector. Your profile seems to be decent enough to get into SPM, with a decent CAT score (Above 85%ile will do)

But just a suggestion. Fill up SPM form only after the CAT results are out, as the forms will be available after that too.

So far it is our assumptions that an 80%ile score might just do the job, but just to be safe, I'd say an 85%ile ;)

Cairn India, Essar Oil and Reliance came during 1st year.. that was for batch 2006-08 and offered around 7,4.5,3.5 approx. Not sure about whether they came for next batches and what was the offer.

I suppose even Last years placement was also 100%. The same can be confirmed by current batch students...

You have a very good profile. Infact chem and mech engineers do get a preference @ SPM. Also u hv a good amt experience in the relevant sector so u hav a very good chance. Just concentrate on your CAT exam and a decent %ile will easily fetch u a call

61.1%(aggregate till 6th sem)
so how much i shud get in CAT to be in secure position..

if u go by last year's %ile, anything above 85 will get u a call for sure. However, also depends on total number of applications received this year. my advice just prepare for ur CAT at this moment sincerely and get a good score

Hi Abhineet,

In my batch most of the students in GEN category have CAT %ile in range 80-90. However, one can expect a call at lower %ile as well if the profile of the candidate is good. A few ppl had low %ile in 60s range as well.

Hi Anand,

I will answer ur 2nd ques first - We have a good number of IT guys, specifically 13 ppl with work ex in IT. They have worked in companies like Accenture, TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Honeywell, Oracle, L&T; Infotech etc. I myself have a work ex of 36 months in Accenture. So there is no question of IT guys being not preferred.

Ur 1st ques- U yourself can answer this ques best rather than anyone else. If u feel that u hv interest in Energy sector and want to do well in this field, then only go for SPM. U need to convince urself for this.

Hi Manoj,

You hv a very good profile and a relevant experience in the infrastructure sector. To answer ur question which my other friends forgot - I just gave the placement scenario for last batch in one of the above post.
Doing an MBA will definitely help u in ur career in the future. I will just suggest select the best option frm whatever u hv at the end of the day. As far as SPM is concerned it is a very good institute promoted by Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation which is a state PSU and Principal Secretary(IAS, Energy) of Gujarat govt himself takes care of this university.

This year lateral placements for students with work ex is also starting. So, laterals will be compensated acording to their profile and prior exp. seeing your profile , you should definitely aim for better colleges, but as far as our clg is concerned, it is a sector specific college which gives specialisation in energy and infrastructure sector which has a very good future prospects. You cannot compare this clg to other colleges. If you want to work for energy sector, you are most welcome.

you will get the benifit only when you go for top notch iim/fms etc.....
