Hi Mr Ar,
For the present there have been 6 placements, 5 into South Indian Bank and 1 in software Associates.
And there are few public firms, banks and ample private firms that are to recruit in the next two weeks... the Placement calender of SOMS starts in the late january.... so keep visiting for updates in placement.
The placement statistics of 2010-12 are as 100% placement with base minimum salary at 4 lacs to 6.5 lacs and the average package being 5 lacs.... Coal India gave the highest of 6.5...

hello seniors i am a SC candidate from delhi i have done my graduation in mech engg with 53% but done a blunder in cat by scoring 56.7 percentile still in trauma as i was scoring above 90s in all mocks. burned some books after this. I am a fresher and wanna get into one of the nits this year only as i don't wanna wait for next year economic Recession ka time hai so you can not even trust big names in these mad times i have seen it already. Please guide me if i can get nit calicut or not please help

Hi priya can you please reply that. In the end i am going to join the NIT and i am sure of it even if it has average placements and in NITC prospectus so much is written about students extra curricular it terrified me i am just a normal fellow. done nothing such big or great

I have got CAT 52%ile(general category) and what is the chance of getting selected in NIT C??? Academics till btech with descent scores and have also 8 months of working experience, But will it be counted???? Would I get an extra preference on dat?? What should be my approach to improve in GD PI if i get a call..Which area i should concentrate more to get selected?? Dear Aspirants the No. of Seats are already increased to 60 from the academic year 2012-13.

I chose SOMS,NITC mainly because my first impression about this institute was that this is a business school and not a school run as a business and Im glad to say that my impression has not changed so far. Also, the fact that this programme is exclusively for Engg. graduates is definitely an added advantage.

No idea about cut-offs swaroop...I've already mentioned the criteria used for selection.It's not based entirely on CAT score.

MBA in NIT,C is only for engg. or anyone from other stream can apply.

Hi Priya, I found out that you are the person who got 93.xx percentile and opted for NITC. It would be nice if you could tell us why you chose this institute over many others.

Some prominent companies in placement season 2009-11 include:
Coal India, IBS, Aban Offshore, E&Y.; Arbitron, Software Associates

So far for batch 2010-12: 7 have been placed so far with 5 offers given by South Indian Bank
Many companies are yet to come.....

Companies don't look into your CAT score once u r eligible for a job and have performed well in your academics and projects....

1. Please share name of the companies that came for placement last season.
2. Is the placement 100%?
3. Percentile of last convert.

The last date for reciept of appl will be 15 March and the notification will be out on 31 Dec 2011. There will be no direct cut off but there will sectional cut offs for the performance in BTech , CAT and workex etc.

And regarding the no. of seats...though it is not confirmed,I feel that increasing the seats to 60 will be quite good as companies coming for recruitment prefer larger strength(common sense!) but I don't want to comment on it as I feel it is not required and one thing that I've learnt from SOMS is not to assess anything or anyone unnecessarily...

Admission to SOMS, NITC is solely based on merit,which is evaluated based on the CAT percentile (the top score in our batch is 93.41),GD,PI,written test,work ex etc.The standard of studies in any institute will depend ultimately on the student herself but all I can assure you is that SOMS provides us a conducive environment for studies and we have excellent faculty from NITs,IITs and IIMs.The fact that IIMK is located nearby is an added advantage.We can avail their library facility as well.
I won't say that you need to put in a lot of effort but definitely your output will depend on the amount of work you put in.

I know NITs get students less than 90 percentile for their MBA study.
Heard a news that NIT takes only brilliant and talented students who achieve something in their past like school/college topper( top 5 atleast), NCC/Scout Cadets. Smart and energetic freshers who have won elocution and speech competitions ?????????

and i would like to know more on the standard of studies, whether a lot of work is to be put in order to pass the course or make it to the cutoffs for sitting in the placement process ..
