i think i have decent score in 10 & 10+2... but the crux of the problem lies in the grad score( and latetly i jst notified the fact tht it is much more imp. for the one to score good consistently throughout his/her life to get into top iim's).. im thinkin to go for work ex coz i know thats surely gonna give a boost to my profile..
but the thing is, with increasing competition day by day.. is it gonna effect any chances for me getting into iim's esp if u consider the fact of low grad score( sins which i commited in colge life grad score)???..
getting into iim is one hell of a dream for me.. yes ppl do come in a big perplexed situation when they jst look at the criteria for iim selection criteria, same is the case with me...

if u wanna do MBA that too only from IIMs... thn CAT is the only option for you... u did not share ur graduation marks and course... anyhow considering it to be engg and % to be on similar lines of hsc and ssc.... score is good enough to fecth u an iim call.... go through the sites of each iim u'll find the selection criteria of each iim for gd/pi calls.... u'll get a fair idea whether u stand a chance or not... but u shoukld definately attempt CAt... as various other institutes of good repute use cat score and u never knwo what would be the selection criteria of the IIMs in future... ATB

well you can get GDPI calls from IIMA and C for sure, if you get above 95 percentile overall with a very balanced sectionals. i know very well about IIMCs criteria according to which you low acads wont be a problem. couldnt find anything that transparent for other IIMs, so cant comment.
just work hard and get good percentile.

Bro see it is true that your academic record matters for selection in MBA. But then defending a question about a year down comes down to you. According to me everything and anything can be defended (with coherent stories offcourse :P).

And give your best . Try to secure a minimum of 95+%ile, higher the better. Your best chance would be IIM C at this moment. Give your best and leave the rest.

i would suggest u to take up some part-time job and continue preparation, truly speaking you have very good acads along with JU which is a very good college. so dont lose the opportunity.
try doing some NCFM modules also so that u get a reason to hide the gap along with part-time job.
SBI-PO will be a long process. better try for IT or coaching work.
This year i mentored a guy who had the same problem, but he finally made it to IIM Calcutta. so dont worry, just do as much as u can to hide the gap.

I personally think I have it in me what it takes to make it to the top(ABCLKI,FMS).But since I have already left my job,friends and family are saying that it would be a huge risk,professors at IIMs won't take this gap easily during PI.I don t think I would get any IT job now,so was thinking about BANK PO-have already applied to SBI.

i have this long desire to crack cat and get admission in top 15 or 20 colleges but
i read other thread which shows that the students got above 99.4 percentile in cat and above 80% in all i.e acads and grad... but diidn't even got a call from any iims so could anybody pls elaborate it bit more
that if i score good percentile like 99.5 or above than what are chances there for me.....?
and what if i gain experience in IT industry of say 2 or 3 years and than give entrance than what are the chances after that..?

Your ssc/hsc academics r decent enough to get IIM calls and calls frm other coveted institutes. But the only problem ,here, is your distant learning Bsc degree.
IIMs and other colleges under top 20 requires a full time degree course for admission.
So if u get a full time degree with good grades & CAT %ile like 99.5, nobody can stop u from gettin in2 top 20 institutes.

there is always a way to put ones point and i feel that his words depicted more of a frustration rather than a noble cause. Though he might be naive, but still he needs to learn how to deal and what to write on a public forum. And if someone really holds that great a feeling, why not start working to eradicate the problem which is known to each and every person.
Anyways, I am here not for gyan, instead to congratulate each and everyone of you who converted and all the very best for your future ahead. The journey has not ended, instead its just a beginning for you guys. two years of MBA will look like a never ending journey, but you need to keep up your determination and keep performing well.
a few pointers for all
1. once you enter the four walls of a B-school, its just smart work that matters. one needs to be equally good in extra-currics as in studies.
2. a few additions to CV like NCFM certifications etc will help you a lot for summer placements in finance companies.
3. people with work-ex, do maintain a good relationship with your peers as you will need their help before summer placements.
4. people joining IIMC, just work out a few conceptual problems for QA test.

Bro please check out all the posts of chamar....some of us DID REQUEST him not to make such posts and to not be "naive" (as you yourself mentioned).

Once or twice is okay...but he has been repeatedly posting with the same kind of attitude, doesn't matter if it's naive or otherwise.

I appreciate your support for him...but as always, everyone's intention on this thread is to have a helpful discussion rather than focus on unwanted things. Let us please stop that discussion at this juncture :).

If you are genuinely a person with some kind of inferiority complex & also belong to community than buddy don't worry It'll go away with time , try some psychiatrist & you will not feel special after that. But I request you not to post absurdly coz already people are here to take care of queries. I hope , we 95+ percentilers can take care of queries in better sense than you So please .
By the way if you are really that dumb as you are saying , you won't be able to clear first semester exam of any B-school. did i mentioned that they throw atleast 5-6 student out of every IIM specailly IIML for being non performancing ( this year no one was an SC student so i guess all of them are deserving ones ).Buddy entrance exam is just first step , you hav to prove your mettle on daily basis in any top B-school so start worrying about the same , instead of feeling "Special" & here, your forefather & govt can't help.

Already discussed there are ILTFW (Income linked tuition fee waiver) in most of the IIMs. You better get in touch with respective IIM's senior or raise a question in the respective IIM's thread, they will be in better situation to guide you through.

Also there are certain scholarship for students which have distinctive criteria, varying from academic record to financial status.
