Dude u are taking it wrong... its for us and only us... general category have been given calls in the ratio of 1:5. and i expected the same thing replicated across categories. I want to know the thought process behind this move.

anyways I am thinking of dropping a mail to the admissions committee asking the reason for the differential calls. If its 1:2 for our categories why not the same treatment for the general category.

Also if i dont get a satisfactory answer i plan an RTI query or a case since this is clear discrimination and different criteria for different categories.

I am a fellow aspirant like you. Seniors in top b schools will be able to reply to your query more accurately. But anyways would like to give my 2 cents from what I have heard and know:


Your placement will mainly depend on what you have done in 2 yrs of MBA. Your GPA, Summer placement and extra Curricular activities. I guess you will have chance to improve your profile by doing certifications like CFA, NCFM, (CCBA/CBAP) for business analyst etc. Increase in social activities, taking part in national / international competitions will definitely be of value addition.

@seniors:: I dont knw whether I should really asked this question here or not??
But I hv it in my mind from sometimes now.

Do We people face problems during placement in B-schools because our profile is not that strong as profile with gen category students......N I am just 6 months experienced....what is the exact scene regarding freshers in top B-schools..

Seniors pls throw some lite on it as fee now a days is too much as per my standards....

prob wid da six new IIMs is that we r just going by the brand, we hv abs no idea of their placements!
in fact some of them dont even hv their own campus!

hey bro..personally i would prefer the newer iims over sibm but i will not advice you to risk your converted call for the 6 iims specially because the calls there have been made in the ratio of 1:10,if i am not wrong..

Now am very very confused about how to proceed...with mediocre acads..like can i let forego the SIBM convert and be positive about converting any of the remaining 8 calls (leaving IIT k out of picture now)...if yes the amount of 3.75 L to be chalked up in less that 14 days is a problem, not so with losing the 31k though...am in serious dilemma!!! any seniors or people who can genuinely guide me in this situation!!! :shock::shock:

The total number of seats offered at NITIE are 274.
for our seniors batch there were 254 and for us its around 223-224. Seats are left vacant if NITIE doesnt find the candidates suitable to fill in(but tht does happen after a series of long waitlist movements)

SC - 42 seats
ST - 21 seats

now that most of the collgs (NITIE,IIT DELHI, IIT M,IIT R and others...) have declared the results......first of all congrts to all bhaaiis who have got calls and best wishes for other bhaais for colleges whose results are still awaited.....


got NITIE, IIT R, IIT M, 5 new IIMs except rohtak....


now the real problm is dates.....:( :(

IIMs- 12 march kolkata
NITIE- 14 march mumbai
IIT R- 16 march roorkee

u cannot convert category seats to general, i dont think the law permits it. U can leave seats vacant but i dont think u can convert them

Simple logic. They have the quota for name sake. They have the seats but will not reduce the cut off, so that the opportunity for the low percentilers in categories doesnt occupy a seat. The category seats will b converted to general later.
It is unfair but has to be accepted as the category students have scored less.
