If you ask me, I would never advise to go for more than I mock series.... analyzing a mock itself takes a day... if you take more than one mock a week, how would you improve you week areas ????

You should all follow what works for your OWN SELF here. I wrote only 8 IMS SIMCATS, spent a lot of time analysing them, even writing down each of the mistakes I made, and classifying them into silly or conceptual/logical error, and rechecked all previous ones after each test so as not to repeat them. This worked for me and I got a 99.9%le finally.. However if you are a person who would be somewhat worried you have not done enough, then this approach is not for you.. What's important is to take on only how much you can bite, analyse EVERY single test you take, and also gain an inner confidence that you have done enough to deserve a seat in the best institutes of management in the country. All three of these are equally important...

I think it is a good idea to take more than one Mock CAT. But don't look at it as an exit poll and take your results too seriously. It is best to take more than one Mock CAT so that your mind does not get set to the pattern of one instituite. Don't write all the tests. Write selectively. For example I wrote 12 TIME ones, 5 CL ones, 3 IMS ones, 4 CF ones and 1 CAV one. My performance was pathetic in all of them. But the tests helped me know myself and identify my mistakes and I managed a percentile of 99.27 in CAT.

see the success stories, they take about solving 40,etc , etc, now that's mocks from various institutes combined.

well pgites it really depends on ur ability to siy for 3 or more tests in a day as al mocks r on sunday.........and it wud be gud if u try out pt they give a wide variety of questions........:grab:

I took CAT last year and got fairly decent percentile...as far as taking mock cats from more than one institute is concerned i wud say it definately helps because as every institute mocks differ so u get practice in different patterns...secondly u get invaluable parctice...third u can experiment with ur stratigies...

But that doesn't mean one sud just go on giving mocks...analysis is very very important..so just get in a right mix of numbers and quality..

Mocks r a definite help in the +ve direction if 1 s serious abt CAT.....but the analysis shud b upto the mark....no use wrting tons of tests...there shud b an attempt to improve consistently from 1 tst 2 the other....

Like some ppl say...VA cant b developed all tht well in 40 days...some say tht is the only section where one can cash in with very gud marks...so ppl let everyome know wat u feel is best..

Not really advisable...though if a sloth like me then you get a target and a performance every week or so to see and aim for......that can be an incentive...else try out last years CAT papers and apna RC/DI/QA/LR stuff regularyl...

I feel multiple test series surely can be a good option if one is keen to have exhaustive exam practice. However, just writing the exams without analyzing them can really backfire. So if you enroll for multiple test series, make sure you are ready to analyze all the exams.
From my past experience I can tell you that appearing for two exams in a day is surely a Brainstorming exercise

Mock CAT are a must if u want to crack CAT.More than your performance in them , its your analysis & the mistake on which you work on ,matters.Also, u can try different strategies during Mocks & guage which one yields the best returns.
It is also advisable to take Mocks of different pattern like ...one may have 160 ques & ither 90 ques so that you are prepared for every thing.

Bottomline is : Analysis which is important rather than number of tests u take....Also dont overexert your self.

well its advisable to...but the thing is dont overburden urself wid all the mock stuff so much that u get exhausted...

take one regular test series from any gud one.
get few of the paper for the others.
solve them that wud give u a different perspective.

i really dont know if takin mock tests from diff places wud actually help neone..for one it eniterely depends on one's preparation and frankly speaking i dnt know if takin so many test really boost ur morales coz some of mah friends who thought tht they cud make it thru CAT and sure they wud have done it but now since they get diff percentile frm diff inst they are perplexed and more confused..

so i wud say that belive in urself and its ok to join only one test series and sure enuf you cud get to solve the previous mock cat papers at home at ur own leisure..u get those in plenty frm ne bookstore..i got previous yr mock papers from IMS and Cl

it works for me coz even though i have just joined TIME , i know tat im improvin now and the confidence level is high and i really dnt want to know my AIR when there are just 41 days left..somehow i feel the mock cat are more or less like the Exit Poll(b4 the real election) ...never on target...

hey wht ur sayin is quite true. but mockcats can be very useful if u use them the right way.... u shud make sure u don let the tests break ur confidence. instead use them to see wht u r good at and wht u need to improve on. there is a world of a difference in takin tests at home n takin in a simulated cat environment. so without worryin abt the AIR look at the tests as a tool to find out ur stregths n weaknesses both conceptual n tactical. another 40 days or so!! best of luck ppl!

i would suggest going for more than one type of mocks...it helps......see ur actual cat may be a bit different from all the mocks u r facing so it helps to get hold of all major types of mocks........my suggestion is go for a cycle in mocks if possible--cl followed by ims then time but limit ur slef to gud instis

yia VA is important but as imp are other sections.jsut build on ur strong areas......i know of people who ahve scored 27 in quant....

u must have identified ur strength areas by now strenthen them further.......work on ur average areas and forget ur weak areas........try learning to leave question from ur weak areas without even attempting (try it in mocks before u apply this in cat )
