just borrowed prac cat 2 from someone and seems like i have done just fine. can anyone pls tell me what %iles could i have got for these scores.

also tell me the sectional %iles if possible.

Dont remember the exact figures.but ur %ile must look like

QA : <75%ile
DI >98%ile
RC EU > 99%ile
Overall : around 99.5%ile
AIR in between 50-65

My score suddenly dropped...got 53 in Prac CAT 1 & only 37.66 here.

dunno what went wrong...will have to analyse the paper properly..

borrowed this paper from a friend, so please post the cutoffs & also give me an idea of what rank & percentile I should expect, when the results are out...dont expect to clear any cutoff except VA anyway

I did this well. Scoring 57 overall. Someone rightly said that inability of PT guys to come with a balanced paper is shown in easy DI section.
I my opinion, if this is CAT 05, net score of 58 should fetch 99+ percentile.
But since these are early days, my score should fetch me 99.5+

PT is getting predictable with its style. Need some changes for mock 3 in Quant and DI section.

Spamming!!! Dude, watch your words...The other thread went dead a coupla daYs back..I didn't want the analysis which I spent loads of time typing to go waste, so I reposted analysis for other people's benefit...
I've better things to do than increase post count, so watch it before you make arbit comments about spamming...

This time, PT quantitative section was easier than the last time. I love doing probabililty; although my competence does not produce any stupendous results I had a good time doing the paper given that I made it to the exam center after a knackered condition due to the nightout preceding it.

No one here seems to claim anything below 40 (or have I still not managed to not stoop low) and you people scare me. Specially the guy with 64 :p

Seemly I made the best choice ever in the quantitative section and I'm sure to end up with something above 15. It's probably nothing to write home about but that definitely satisifed me. I have this knack of refraining from checking papers and scores despite possessing the key, I prefer to wait for the scores owing to the reasons that I'm lazy, also I'm scared to face any consternation that might arise.

There was a lollipop fuel question in the 2 mark section of DI (At least I felt it was lollipop). I still curse myself for not having understood that CC was litres not millilitres. Even if I had not known it, it was obvious from the question because that was the only available parameter. Summing it up, 2 mark questions could be carefully chosen in both the quantitative and DI section this time. I was surprised to see very less LR in this paper; specially the vexation I landed in with the last paper was soothed.

I choose not to comment a lot on the English section because all I remember attempting is 3 RC's and a bit of EU. It was shameful that I could not manage to even look at Parajumbles or Themes. I was totally lazy during the last 50 minutes. I see myself as a person who strongly depends on accuracy. I managed to attempt around 55 questions in this and I'm waiting for the score.

What I've realised is that 7-8 marks of deficit is always encountered in English section which I need to improve at. Apart from that some effort in revving up solving DI will help me achieve better scores. My attempts have always soared around the 55-65. I need some advice on how good or bad this attitude can turn out to be. It's dubious to see that people score more marks than the number of questions which I attempt but I love to take life as it comes. Whether I'm being complacent or that is the excuse I'm trying to effectuate, I'd love to find an answer.

Grand total= a paltry 47.67 (I am not eligible for CAT)

So the about the prac cat2 .......yes thwe Maths section was abit tough but ya..thr were 2-3 question in Maths that were carrying 2 marks n were sitters. But overall, scoring in maths was a challenge...DI was pretty fine....VA was good..with lot of questions........lots of choice..... .So scored well in VA (18.75). Total is 41.25.

Decent percentile........Can i hope for??:wow:

Haven't got my hands on PracCAT 2 yet, hope to solve it within a coupla days...but till then, here's my analysis of PracCAT 1...


ANALYSIS:---

Section 1 : DI

All the 2-pointers were extremely short & simple with the exception of 2 of the 4 separate question on reasoning...The long LR on the jersey nos was a piece of cake...unfortunately, it looked forbidding during my actual attempt & I left it..
The 1-pointers were also simple, but the population growth rate question was relatively difficult...
overall about 25 of the 38 questions were absolute sitters

Section 2 Quant

My strategy was to give value for time..spend more time on 2-pointers..I got 7 2-pointers right with 100% accuracy...but spent too much time here & did really bad in the one-pointer section...didn't get enough time to see all questions..should have attempted atleast 5 sitters, which I didn't even look at..
the sitters here in 2-pointers were - 59,60,61,62,69
in 1-pointers - 39,41,42,49,51.53,54,55

Section 3 Verbal

I found the section a bit tougher, with the options being a bit closer than usual...scored only 25...some of the RC & summary questions seemed a bit suspect, with none of the inferences following logically from the facts
Attempted 3 passages & all VA ( around 41 attempts )...low accuracy here compared to what I usually have in this section...I have this tendency to attempt everything, so need to attempt summary & parajumbles judiciously, while attempting 1 more RC or all of em



CRIBS:

My AIR rank has magically increased with time..initially it was 112, now its 75...But my score remains the same!!!! How the hell is that possible??? My ranks & percentile in individual & overall has also improved...my percentile is now 99.77 with 52.37 marks.....
I was initially giving the PT guys the benefit of the doubt...But now, its Either major league mistakes, major league manipulation or ultra crappy student base...take your pick !!!
I was thinking about joining PT after the first test, but then didn't...in retrospect, seems like a great decision...I'd have got false confidence & taken things lightly...

after a forgettable prac cat 1 in which i got a lousy 70 percentile in DI i changed my strategy....gave 30 min to english and 45 each to quant and di...

wen u know u have got that ectra 5 min somehow u tend to be more relaxed....and getting stuck on a di set doesnt un nerve u....
neways...a mag di section...expecting 25.33

english was a disaster....to save time i didnt do a single RC hoping that my ims va accuracy would continue...alas...it wasnt to be....have a -.66 score in section b with 4 wrong and 1 rite...
expectin only 12.33 in VA....no chanve of clearin cutoff...

quant...i had lotsa time....but didnt know how to solve...so shucks...

to understand the logic behind PT VA questions...have downloaded all usage tests from their site....and am gonna read through those rather than play nfs....

to day was a gud day. after notching up my best ever in time aimcat, went in high spirits for the pt praccat, it was gud but my total fell compared to praccat 1

If u get 90-91%ile + in all the sections, relax n enjoy becoz PT n IMS cut offs are as usual inflated

i did my analysis n found that the questions that i attempted in maths, were most of those that were attemptable, if i wud have got most of them correct, wud have got a comfortable score.

still i feel the cut-offs gonna be high.... for me last one was also a disaster.. and this one too...
