i guess it shouldnt be any trick by the admissions committee rather a chance for all dos aspirants who would have gone upto the second round of pgcim interview but doubtful of getting selected. So now all these aspirants can opt for a different program with spjain international management. So if i am right, those ppl who would have got rejected in the first round of pgcim interview as well as those who would have got selected for pgcim wouldnt have got this e-mail.

Based on the discussions on this PGCIM course (for the one with the final semester in France ),I am a little aprehensive about the whole concept.Generally any reputed college (like S.P.Jain) would conduct a newly introduced course for atleast a few years before they venture out on some other course.Nobody is currently sure about how things will pan out for the PGCIM course and amidst this they have decided to start a new course.
I always take the information on the official website of any college to be sacrosanct.However there is no mention about this course on S.P.Jain's website till date.It seems to me that there is this air of hush-hush about the whole thing. My advice to all people receiving such e-mails is to imm call up the administrative office and clarify eveything related to this course.Also,it would be great if you could ask them to upload the details of this course on their official website.

Yeah even i felt the same.. I didn't clear PGDM interview and i got a mail for PGCIM. And now i have got a mail for this France thing. If not everyone is receiving it then its more likely that they are sending it to ppl who may not make it for PGCIM.... Nice trick

One of my friends also received the same mail...yes there is no information on the website but the mail is authentic..we checked the email id of the sender. It is the same as the one from which we received the mail for PGCIM....

well no such information is available on spjain official website....may u must got a spam...check the authenticity of the mail...these days we all must be receiving a hell lot of useless mails from unrecognized b schools.

Hey, I received a mail from SPJAIN regarding the PGCIM course from France.They have started same course with France.What are they trying ?? They are thinking they will start such courses without assuring for placements and everyone will just come and join because SPJAIN's name is associated, we will be spending 14Lacs and if no jobs then they are not responsible. Guys please comment !!

PS: Earlier I was thinking of joining Germany course of PGCIM if i got a call but now it made me rethink since they are playing with our future.

ESB Business School will accept the credits earned at SPJIMR, for their MBA in International Management. The participants have to undergo a 6-month full time residential course in Reutlingen campus to be eligible for the MBA in International Management. The 6 months at Reutlingen will be composed of classroom training based on electives chosen by participants and a Master's Thesis (usually completed in a company for duration of 2 months)

It says that "College is not strict about cut-off percentile. If profile is good, lower can be considered. For eg: One guy in our batch has 2-3 startup companies.. I am not sure of the least figure though.
But of course if college has to make a choice between candidates with similar work profiles, cptitive scores will be considered."
You should have given a try...

Now, let us not discuss if all such shorlisted profiles have started up a company etc...
It being a dual country program, they must have a different selection criteria and might be looking for some other things in the profile.. like acad background, if there are any gaps in education, nature of work, roles played , work profile etc.

May be, you should not miss it atleast next time onwards...

Hmm...strange yaar..I badly wanted to do my MBA and got 83%ile in CAt..didnt apply to this course because I thought i need minimum 85%ile. Work ex bhi achha khaasa hai around 4 years..

I believe they would not let this average drop. They would want to popularize this course as a tough one to get into.

Say 10 years down all of us would want this to be known as an elite course like PGDM of the PGPM of SPJain isn't it?

What I can think of is that:
1. A candidate may have less than 85 % in say CAT but more than 85% in XAT, in that case he is eligible.
2. A candidate may have less than 85 % in both CAT & XAT but he is eligible based on his GMAT score.
3. He had got exceptionally superb profile and is confident enough to apply even after not meeting the eligibility criteria.

:) ofcourse I checked CAT,XAT and GMAT scores if not i would not post that.. hope profiles are really exceptional

I think, rather than finding faults in the selection process, we should trust SP Jain selection committee for shortlisting such profiles. In the end, percentile doesnt count, what counts is what kind of profile you have and how much you are eager to learn and contribute to peer group learning...

Well the profiles must be really good.. but the number of such shortlisted candidates is what is making it tough to understand..

I agree that percentile doesn't matter a lot, but sadly b-schools don't think so . They should've kept a lower score as criteria then.
Well, contribution to peer group learning is very important - that is what we are talking about here 'the kind of peer group we can expect here'

Ofcourse I trust spjains selection committee they would pick the eligible ones from the 'shortlisted guys'

It would be nice if seniors could elaborate on the life at SP Jain and ESB...
Like how was the interaction with PGDM guys.. life at SP Jain.. extra curricular activities.. activities on campus
and similarly activities in ESB...

What I can think of is that:

I don't think SPJAIN needs to proof anything to ESB or vice versa.
They must be working together to make the best use of this MBA program for them as well as we students.

hi everybody, I was one among the shortlisted guys, and I attended the GIs.

I don't know if anyone of you observed while signing in the sheet, many (nearly half) candidates had their cat or xat percentile less than 85, while it is mentioned that 85%le is necessary for final admission(on the website)

why did spjain shortlist somany no.of candidates having less than 85%? is it because:
a) Not many above 85 %le applied?
b) SPJain wants to show to german univ that there is huge demand for this course by showing those many no. of applicants?
c) The profiles were so awesome that they dont care even if the candidate has 70%'le?

I don't have anything against the guys with less percentile (i barely have 85 myself), I'm just worried if we are just being used to show off a number.

I have even met a guy who doesn't have 2 years of work ex.(another pre-requisite for this course) and he was shortlisted.

I never expected this from a reputed institution like SPJAIN, why would they not follow the criteria set by themselves? (If they are really exceptions its fine.)

Seriously, can anyone clarify this, if they have any concrete and credible information?

(I have checked the sheet and percentiles of candidates, the sheet was just lying there for us to sign. May be some of the guys with less than 85%le on this forum can confirm this.)

I will try and keep my queries short and to the point.I hope you have the time to answer them all.

1) Based on the current situation in Germany,how hopeful are you that everybody in your batch will get jobs? How has the response been from companies on whose websites you had previously uploaded your resumes ?

2) Has anyone sought S.P.Jain's help for placement options in India from your batch? If yes,then how has S.P.jain responded to such calls?

3) How comfortable are you people with German ?Is it true that the whole of the 3rd term is in German?

4) Finally,how are things moving for candidates who got shortlisted during the job fair ?

Please do not feel that these questions are meant to doubt your previous statements.Our results from GD/PI are going to come out soon and we will have to take a final call within a fortnight probably.My sole purpose is to gather as much information as I can before I reach a conclusion. In the end,I would like to thank you for all your posts.I hope you continue doing the same.

Haven't heard of any such rumor...In my G1, out of 5, 3 ppl were shortlisted. In G2, batch was of four applicants. There was one German Prof ( Mr Daniel, i guess) Law prof..and one Prof from SPJain. German prof was the one who did the talking in G2 and sir from SP Jain didn't speak much...german prof was nice and was trying to ensure that we do not get nervous...

In my G1 ..they took 1 from 5 and group before me, 0 of 5.

The G2 Indian panel comprised of Snr Prof Operations & Prof who is placement incharge of SPJ
I too felt that they were keen on selecting us than rejecting in G2. My co-candidate created a bad situation for him. He has written career in finance as preference. The discussion over this went on for 5 mins that why/how PGCIM will/will_not help him in that direction. The profs were very encouraging, even the guy was contradicting himself many times.

I was in 8.00 slot on sunday

Few observations
1. People called for whole day were arnd 60% from IT/Software, i saw the whole attendance list
2. I will put number of ppl attended on sunday to 150+
3. Rejection rate in G1 was rather high, from morning 8-10 slot from 15 they have selected 2. We both are from s/w.
4. There were two G2 panels. Every G2 round was with 3 candidates. Mine went till 35 mins.
5. Results will come in 10 days - By Prof Debashish

U have no idea how much freedom u have when it comes to applying to companies here . U get a chance to apply to the best companies .. some of them which dont even come in IIMs but the problem is., you need to know good German to be able to get into most of them.

A suitable profile for PGCIM would be..
1) Around 3 years of relevant work experience in Banking , Finance , Consulting , Manufacturing , Logistics , Procurement , Audit
2)Good Spoken German
3)A good/motivated business attitude

ESB is not a place where u have work experience in IT and then get a good position in totally different sector/domain like in the IIM's where the placements are crazy.You will need to show great motivation to be able to get into a good position coming from that background ( And that doesnt come by saying i m really really motivated )

1)Make sure u have a good profile if you are seriously applying to this program.(I expect u will have one if u are selected)

2)Use the 8 months to do as much German as you can.Better try speaking in German to one another...
and then u have endless opportunities here.

3)Start applying for Masters Thesis when in India., and get a good one., its the first step to recruitment in a good company.And to get a good one it would help if u have some relevant experience and a good profile.

Else , the college is putting a lot of effort for us.. and so is SP Jain and we probably might get placed with MNCs where knowing German is not that important or in a company back in India.

In the program is a good bet if you have confidence in your profile.
People who get selected with experience in IT ., be prepared to struggle and work hard... it would be difficult to get a job in Germany.. but nevertheless I guess you can get a decent job back in India with SP Jain's efforts , because they would'nt select you unless u are fit for placement

I asked one of the seniors at SPJain abt the placement, he said, we will be getting placed in german companies that have operations in india...and job posting will be in india only...I want to ask if this rule is strict or will we be allowed to explore options in other german companies ?? I mean we will be graduating as MBA in IB from ESB ....so we should be kept on same segment as other MBAs from ESB, right ?

Hope u all had a good interview experience!

As most of us had queries regarding the placements, I requested if I could meet the PGCIM incharge after my interview. I was glad that he spent time with me clarifying all my doubts on the placement..here is what he shared with me...

Just like the way PGDM course has a placement committee (say adcom) formed among the students, PGCIM will also have one. As we know placement is completely driven by this committee members. A list of dream companies are taken from the students and SP Jain will guide the adcom students in getting the contact details and mailing them with the batch profile that matches with the company's reqmnt. If required, for certain companies, SP Jain wud also ring them up and invite.

The only difference is,in the case of PGDM, there is on campus placements. For PGCIM, since the MBA degree is from Reutlingan University, the focus is on the Job fair conducted there. Also one can covert their master thesis into final placements. However, in worst case, if some are not able to find a job there.. then, that is when SP Jain wud chip in and assist along with he placement committee.
He assured this. The reason why SP Jain web site doesnt talk abt it extensively is that, the first batch is yet to complete their course and they still have time to get placed. So, the worst case is yet to come for SP Jain to react. He is confident that the students wud either convert their MT to placements or get it thru Job fair.

He said PGCIM students are like their brand ambassadors and SP Jain will not leave them if there is an issue with their placements. He did accept that there is a slight sense of insecurity with regards to the placements since the first batch is yet to complete.

Once the first merit list is out (in 10 days time) he said he would mail those ppl in detail including the total expense ( arnd 11) etc.

I have shared these details based on what I discussed with him. Hope it clarified some of your doubts...

The entire experience @SP was wonderful!

Well to start with it wud be bttr to call it as a chit chat process.
There was a maam n a sir who were in my final round Gi during PGDM process. They made it specific at the start to be crisp n concise and highlight ur answers in such a way that they get a clear picture about u n also the management aspect inside u. Initially maam asked each one their intro.
Following pointers were specified:
1.Try to be crisp n clear.
2.Presume that time limit is around 1 min per person
3.Format-You, educational bckgrnd,family bckgrnd, job bckgrnd, passion(specified it to b diff frm hobby-sumthn dat you follow 5 degree more that hobby)
4.Make it in such a way that it helps in forming a cohesive picture about u.
Now my pointers and take:
1.It is a go/no go round...Elimination
2.Be crisp and clear.
3.Keep it short simple and highlight each n everything special about u.
4.In case you stretch too much they myt cut u in middle and ask sumthn jus to get ur personality short glimpse.This u myt not wnt isn't it? (coz u highlightin urslf is way more positive and concrete than sum1 else askin about u)
5.If sumthn is in ur ans is not crisp or they are varying then be ready for another question related to it. this to clarify and assess...Like my friend said passion of trekkin and goin to hills and mountains.
And maam told her dat she'll come back at last and ask him about diff b/w hills and mountains and peaks.
Mine intro was short n crisp like:
Education+My freelancing entrepreneurial venture+Infy exp+TCS exp+Passion(writing)+2 state level cricket comp rep+My novel writing(all these pointers in 1 line each)
each person was further questioned and every time u get vague they cut u in middle and told like what they want to hear like some1 said lyk reading then maam asked dnt b vague they wanted ans lyk i lyk reading xxx type with aaa,bbb,ccc....(3-4 titles---be prepared for 5 titles my take) being my fav reads. followed by obvious questn of why and which n odr details about them...Jus one of the questions to hv u guys get a prospect.
Then there was discussion on Lokpal bill and anna hazare but we were cut few times. They told us that they want it to be concise management centric discussion with solid fundamental points. They want to guage our management inclination... And that was it.
Myt sound to concrete and rigid process but trust me it was simple enuf and fun filled. They jus wnt to know u. Let u come out and dats it...They eased it out and they are mostly there to select u n not reject.
3/5 made it to next round.
That is it for first round...
Second was again a discussion with one ESB faculty(German ofcourse) and one SPJ maam. It was more generic one more lyk a round table conf. Jus simple question sets guaging about ur personality, your inclination and your suitability for the program and it was far more chilled one.

As you said , that only 7 got interview call after the job fair..This number seems pretty low..As one enters into MBA after leaving cushion MNC jobs, its hard to face that you end up struggling for a job, even after spending lacs of Rupees .?? Are the rest of the guys still in Germany , how will they be planning for their placements??

Hey mere bhai, course is not yet over!!! there is plenty of time to apply to jobs in companies. ESB has a very good name in Germany and SPjain has good name in India. You will always find job with their names in ur CV. But people can always point out an exception saying that there is a guy from IIM who didn't get job and all, but the truth is majority (almost all) end up with a good job, when you are passing out from a reputed school and if you have passion to do well in some particular field! Rest is up to you to decide..
