Aur kal ke transcript ka kya karoge! Conference general bakar vala tha- nothing serious. No 'plan' or 'roadmap' was discussed. Everyone knows what areas need to be improved, so I'd suggest you concentrate on the same. However, if you do need a plan, the plan suggested a week back looks alright ..I'm pretty sure everyone's fallen way behind that plan.

I am still concentrating on DI, but I try to do something or the other from every section. 15 mins of fast reading (something verbose), brush up a few concepts in QA (chapterwise) and DI sets from AIMCATS. That's about 3 hours.

Add to that a good movie (part of my prep!) and I have 5-6 hours of serious HARDCORE prep! Pun not intended! :D

Well it so happens that I was part of most of the conference but I think I missed the last 15 minutes or so because of my Internet Connection which was on a holiday for most of the day.

Anyway is an adverb, and it means regardless or in any event:

Any way is a paired adjective and noun meaning any particular course, direction, or manner:
Chloe is willing to help Marshall prepare for the SAT in any way she can.

Then we have anyways, a colloquial corruption of anyway. Its universally considered nonstandard and should be avoided altogether. It might help to remember that anyway is an adverb, and adverbs cant be plural.

1) Who say "My VA is pathetic..in shorts, it sucks..donno what gonna happen on D-day?"
2) Like me..who scored 91+ %ile to odd 35%ile (yes bhaiyon this true)..which is nothing but Newton's 3rd law of motion i.e. every action has its opposite reaction.

Lemme tell u my story (khuch khass nahii par intersting to hai hee)...

I've seen the outputs of my inputs very clearly...

I scored 30-60%ile ...without any efforts in my initial mock CATs...
U.P. se hoon to angrezi to aap samjh hee sakte ho...

Then after that I bought Wren n martin...started reading The Hindu edi...aur bas 1 novel.."I too had a love story" this is the first novel I finished completely...25 saal ki umar mein bas 1 hee novel...(sounds weird but this is true..) ...And as a result I scored 91%ile in 1007..phir kya tha laga ki sab theek thaak hai..quit reading everything ...Results..75%ile followed my 60%ile and finally 33%ile in 1004..

I know what to do now..Reading approx 50 pages on weekdays (in office) and 200 on weekends and religiously reading The hindu Editorial will be more than sufficient to get 99+ in CAT 09 ..I know agar yehi chalta raha to 'll get 99%ile + in CAT-09 ..(Confidence to hai atleast...)

Captain, I appeal to declare forthcoming weeks as special week on specific topics... Like this week as CONFUSING Week (for Homonyms / confusing words )
3) don't ignore this section as I've seen guys scoring 99 + % in DI and quant and just 50-60 in this section. Tragedy yehi hai is topic ki u can never be sure of the answers...
e.g. My roomate (Ashraf_the_ace) has got 99.95 %ile in 2007 CAT and 99%ile somethin in CAT 2008..AIMCATs mein he is scoring the same but in some mocks he too get 91..(In 1007 we got same marks...)

In short, those who are getting even 1%ile can get (100-1)%ile on D-day in this section because this is a section highly unpredictable provided that U have been following the golden rules ..This Can be conquered easily , trust me...

I hope we'll have a few activities on this going forward...

Guys need help in DI though am not a member of this group but have had descent scores all throughout(air 8 in aimcat 1004 and 99+ percentiles most of the times) but there are days when i go completely blank in DI and those are the days when the percentiles plument have even had 92 in aimcat1005.

Please tell me how you guys tackle your DI section and especially when to leave a question.

i am struck hard by some disastrous scores...... am getting in the range of 85-95 %yl range since 1004....things not looking better in 1003 and 1002 even... hence, i read few motivating views of people getting into IIM...and shared with you all in above posts!!

just one positive in 1004 that i could clear VA cut off.....

anyways...... i have seen even worse scores last year......so, might be possible that am back on track soon in mocks...else definitely on C-Day

Tanuj Johri who scored in the 99.54 percentile in CAT and is a first year PGP student at IIM Lucknow , shares his CAT advice:

With just two weeks to go for CAT 2007, I can understand the tension that all the aspirants must be going through at this point of time. After all, I was in a similar situation just a year ago. But do remember that this is a very crucial stage in your preparation and you must have a definite plan over the next two weeks.
To crack CAT, you need to have a perfect mix of strategy and concepts. Merely dominating one aspect would not be enough to make you clear one of the most competitive exams in this world.
When you enter the examination hall, you must have a clear strategy in your mind about the sequence in which you will attempt the sections, approximate time that you will devote to each and the topics within each of the sections that you will attempt first. All these decisions will come from an analysis of your strengths and weaknesses, which you must have analysed by now through the various Mock CATs. (If you have not, do it now!)
The strategy that I followed was to work on my areas of strength first. So, in my case, I attempted DI and Quant first and left the Verbal section for last. This strategy helped me to attempt my strongest sections without any time constraints and that in fact helped me to complete these sections in lesser time.
Thus, by the time I reached the last hour, I had already built up my score and after that it was all about clearing the cut-off in the Verbal section. This strategy helped me to keep enough time for the Verbal section and allowed me to carry the confidence of my stronger sections to my weaker link.
However, CAT has always had a tendency to surprise the candidates by a change in the pattern and this demands a little bit of flexibility in your strategy. After all, as managers, you will be required to make quick decisions. But, a general framework about your strategy can always provide you an edge over others.
Also, do remember that the biggest surprise in store in this year's CAT could well be no change in the pattern!
For the next two weeks -- do things that come to you naturally. Do what you have been doing all your life during the last few days while preparing for exams. I am a person whom you will always find with a book in his hand till the last minute before an exam starts. I believe that this is my natural tendency and this is what I did when I took CAT.
I took around 15 Mock CATs in the two weeks preceding CAT and that helped me to be in the right frame of my mind on D-day. I seemed to have a familiarity with the exam, which would not have been possible had I stayed away from the preparations during the last few days. Just remember to adopt the strategy that suits you best; if you have always believed that relaxation is the best approach before an exam, go and chill out over the next few days; but if you have always been a last minute slogger (like me!), give your best efforts over the next two weeks. Believe me, it will make you feel much more confident.
However, avoid taking any new topics at this point of time and just concentrate on your areas of strength. After all, CAT is a test about how strong you are in your areas of strength and not about how weak you are in your areas of weakness.
So, good luck to all of you. My advice for those of you who have scored well in the Mock CATs so far -- just try and build up on your performance on D-day; and for those of you who haven't been lucky in this regard -- have faith in your abilities and just try and surprise everyone with your performance (just like I did!).

~Review earlier mocks/FLTs
It would be in your best interest to review the mocks/FLTs you have already attempted. The aim should be to review those special questions which either introduced a new concept or required a different approach for solving. This is of immense help since if lady luck decides to smile on you, you might just get a question similar to one in those mocks. Atleast it happened to me for CAT-2005 and I think that was the clincher for me!
The second reason you must review those mock tests is to remind yourself of some of the silly mistakes you committed in them. You surely won't want to repeat any of those on the most important day. By now you should know the areas which are your pitfalls. It might be parajumbles or poems or geometry or something else. These areas should not be your first choice on the day of CAT. Only if you have run out of questions after the first stage of scanning should you come to these.
~ Practicing with mocks and earlier CAT papers
I believed it was a good idea to go into the exam-hall after having run a mini marathon and taken a small rest! What I'm suggesting here is something I tried myself and it worked for me. You can tinker it to suit your comfort level.
It may be a good idea to attempt about 5-6 full length papers during the last two weeks, attempting a mock every alternate day. This should be the final test for your strategy for CAT-2007. The day between the two mocks can be spent in analysis of earlier mocks, brushing up on some fundamentals and attempting a sectional test or two. There must be a sense of urgency by now which should ensure that you are able to review most of the mocks and sectionals you attempt now quickly. Out of these 6 mocks, atleast 3 should be the earlier CAT papers. This would ensure that you not only spend a good amount of time practicing but also get a flavour of the real CAT.
also suggest you choose these mocks/ sectionals across different coaching institutes. This would provide some variety. Don't get bogged down in case you happen to score low in one of these paper. Your only aim should be to meet all the sectional cut-offs in these papers and better your highest score. And, I suggest you don't calculate your score from the last mock!
~ 2 days before the CAT
You should not attempt any mocks at this stage. The best way to utilise this time is to pick up those books on quant fundamentals and brush up on the formulae, concepts and whatever else you had left for review during the last few days. Don't try anything new here! By this time you should begin to move away from the preparation mode. You may decide to go to office just like I did.
~ A day before the CAT
This day should be spent away from books. Spend time doing what you love the most. Catch a good movie, speak to people, go to office or do anything else other than discuss CAT. I would suggest you see a movie which inspires you to achieve and gives that adrenalin rush!
~ On C-Day
When you wake up, sit quietly for a few minutes. Tell yourself: "This is the day I have been waiting for -- this will be my Day! I won't falter and come what may I will fight till the last few seconds!" It may leave a few of you really charged up emotionally, which I'll say might just work. It did for me!
Have a good light breakfast. Before leaving for the CAT centre, pick up the newspaper. Read any article the fastest you can without bothering to comprehend. Think of some arbitrary numbers and add, multiply, divide them for next 2-3 minutes. This will be like a warm-up before the race and would ensure you get into the hall with your cerebral-machinery running.
Reach the examination centre with sufficient time in hand. When you receive the paper, read those instructions carefully. This would give you an idea of the number of questions and their split across different sections. The next few minutes can be utilised to modify your strategy if required. Eg. In CAT-2005, 2-mark questions were introduced. In those 15 minutes before 11am, I decided to spilt my 40 minutes for each section into 15-25 in favour of 1-mark and 2-mark questions respectively, the sequence remaining same.
Lastly, I would like to remind you all once again, the kind of mock scores you carry into the halls never matter. A guy with 99+ per cent in mocks could falter and a guy who scored less than 90 per cent could ace the exam! I have always believed that its all about those two hrs (now 2.5 hrs) which will change lives!
Someone told me once: "In the race of CAT, the first hour will see people fighting to stay in the race, the next 30 minutes will have only 5 percentile of people in the race and the last 30 minutes will see the winner emerge!"
So go in with a positive frame of mind, fight it out to the best of your abilities and be a winner.

Take my own case, the last Mock in 2006..I got a 12%ile & finally landed with an IIMA call in the exam..
