Friends this may be a strange petition but there is story today in TOI (Mumbai edition) that the IIMs might go to court regarading the recent decision by Government to reduce the fees.Yesterday there was an report on CNBC regarding the protest by student community against the govenment descion.

actually i dont think the fees reduction(if it takes place) will matter a lot..as it is most guys in iims are from rich backgrounds.....nyways..iims have alternate sources of income..particularly a,b,c..waise i dont think mmj is gonna get control of iims like iit ..ex iit kgp...diro is prof sk du...

I do not think fee has anything to do with the Quality of Education.
Hope our junta remembers that the fee for B.Tech couse at IITs used to be a paltry 1500 INR till 1997.
In 1998, H D Devagowda government increase it to somthing around 15,000 INR per annum....

One more thing...I forgot to add. The status of INDIAN INSTITUTE is given only if a Institution is funded (endorsed) by the Govt. of India. The IIIT cases can be seen for the same.

Even I agree to oxymoron that fees has no lena dena with the quality. You guys must understand that the quality of ediucation goes down if and only if the quality of competition and quality of faculty is bad.

Stanford and wharton take around 2100 students each year for MBA, and their fees is not TOO high for US Standards.

er...Are we not jumping the gun way too soon here? First of all I see no direct corelation between Fees Levied and the Quality of Education....think FMS is a perfect quintessence of what I am saying...anyway like pointed out elsewhere the decision wasn't taken in a haste....when the govt is ready...
