i had imt-g, bt didnt join it. bt i am cinfused , whether 2 join my job 4m 13 june or wait till 20 for mdi.

Don't want to dishearten you as hope is the best thing one can have in life. However you should always have ur PLAN B ready in case PLAN A fails.
Here if you dont join the company & then god forbids don't get through MDI then you will loose them all. (@844 chances are glim)

My personal suggestion:
Try asking for a delayed joining from the company stating any personal reason. If thats agreed to then
If not then join the company & later if selected in MDI leave the company. Try buying out the notice period. thus you will not be blacklisted in the company.
In the worst case they will blacklist you but thats OK you have so many companies & so many opportunities & who says post MBA you would ever want to join it in the first place.

So cheers & take a wise & practical decision. Hope it helps.

Call them on the number given on the website. (Admissions Office). They may or may not reply via email, they tend to send the refund draft straightaway. Calling them & speaking them in person is the best approach.

If you dont have any other calls then dont worry. You dont have the dilemma of joining any other college .

Now the preocedure followed at MDI in the past years is that they will put on a counselling list for individual courses on the website. The people in this list will have to be present at MDI with a DD of the required amount and they will be alloted seats on merit basis.

This is the time where this process followed by MDI will fall flat on its face. Lets consider there are 60 people still holding the PGPHR seat which I believe may not be case as there could 70 -80 people waiting.

This will lead to all the people who might still be holding to the PGPM seats to withdraw. After that there should be 10- day period in which a person can only apply for HR. I belive there could be better solutions than what I have suggested but if they are not followed PGPM HR student would end up in deep s***

You'll get to know about the selection processes for various clubs during your induction week. Basically it will a short test/task followed by an interview. There are enough clubs at MDI to accommodate most of the batch.

@ Seniors, was just wondering what the cultural scene is like at MDI? During graduation, we used to have a lot of cultural activities in college, of which I would always be a part. Is it like that in post graduation?
Does MDI have any sort of social evenings, or cultural activities where one gets a chance to display their talents?

Also was curious to know how are rooms and roommates allotted?

The cultural scene at MDI is very healthy. Culturals are handled by a separate club called Sanskriti. Sanskriti is one of the most active clubs on campus. There are events happening throughout the year. Each and every festival is celebrated to the fullest. For performers like singers and dancers, there are multiple opportunities to showcase their talents. There are on-campus events plus MDI participates in other b-school cultural events. In addition, Sanskriti performs at MDI's flagship symposiums namely Illumina and Imperium. So there are opportunities galore!

Last year roommates were allotted as per ranks. So the adjacent rank-holders became roomies. Rooms are allotted by the admin as per their own algorithms. At the end of first year, you will be asked whether you want to retain your room as well as roomie.

how u arrived at the conclusion dat buffer has been exhausted. they sent out 120 calls, if supposedly (worst case) they got 120 dds, lets say 10 withdrawals and 19 upgradations , ther still hav 91 dds, dats like 31 xtra dds..

we need 2 knw the number of total dds and withdrawals b4 jumping 2 such conclusions.

If you are talking abt solid facts- No, i don't have them

But, nobody will.

However, based on the trends of the past three years, and trust me, I have frnds is all of them, the second list is issued only when buffer has been exhausted.


Though there is every possibility that you might be right and there still may be extra DD with MDI; but, the possibility is bleak. Why not wait for a few more days and see if more ppl withdraw, rather than accept that there "might" be a problem.

Hi,

In case you are a work ex guy and assume you are earning 5 lakh average right now then you straight away get behind 30 lakhs by doing PGPIM.

The pros are global education and intern at a nice global fun. In case you manage a global job (Chances of which are slim there are not many seniors doing jobs there) offer then you have recovered your money but in case not then average package for PGPIM is less than both PGPM and PGPHR.

Still the decision is yours since MDI is a great institute and had I not had na offer from somewhere else I might have been inclined to join PGPIM myself

2. out of d dds they recieved, we dnt knw whether der wer ny withdrawals or not..

In the second list, they have filled all seats and exhausted the buffer, i.e. there are exactly 240+60+30 ppl in MDI right now.

If 19 ppl have been upgraded, that means that the net DD received for HR=60+19= 79.

It is clear why the waitlist didn't move by much- they were waiting for enough number of ppl to withdraw so that the entire buffer may be exhausted. And just in case you raise the issue of ppl moving in from the waitlist, one of them had opted ONLY for PGPM. I dunno abt the other one, but I guess the same would apply.

And it doesn't matters how many DD were received initially, what matters is how many DD were left in the end.

True . Only thing that can be sure is they had at least 79 (60 + 19) DD's for HR before upgrading .

And this way the last person to convert MDI this year also will be someone with 95.XX%tile.

Firstly, they call people in more or less in order of there percentiles ... then the withdrawals happen at the last day ... Those who pretty much deserved it and were in the percentile range of 96 to 97.50 will have to take other colleges they have converted ...

Doesn't feel good at all ... when you know you deserved a college .... wanted it badly but couldn't get even though you have had a fair chance

dont worry..there will be heavy movement as people like me who had to secure admission for HR and who are not willing to do from HR now, will cancel admission at last moment if not converted...

Tricky issue...the general feeling is that there will be some movement after 18th, as a few ppl might've deposited the Drafts only in hope of getting an upgrade to PGPM (yours truly included). But, just in case the movement is not as large as expected and u aren't upgraded to IM-then there "might" be some problem.

The problem will be if ur seat, after the withdrawal, doesn't gets occupied by some other candidate and the batch strength is reduced accordingly. Then they'll take the entire sum of Rs. 2 lac. If it gets filled, only 1K will be taken.

My advice, wait and watch. They might come out with another list before 18th. If they do, and u get a convert, only then come on 18th to MDI.

Otherwise, join MDI only and only if u are willing to pursue a course in HR. Bcoz, that might also happen (though I wish that it doesn't)

Since u have waited so long I would suggest that you wait a bit more. I personally feel that complete withdrawals have not happened after IIM I movements & there is still scope for some more movement. Your rank is pretty close so hang on for a while.

P.S.: On a lighter side, I would benefit from your withdrawal although as it will remove one PGPM contender from the list..

Cant a solution be reached at in such cases by a mutual understanding between the 3 parties(2 candidtaes & MDI). I think if that happens & u really wanna switch places then u should definitely give it a try.

Last year the final list came on 11th june.I think there will be another list but going by the unexpected behaviour of this year's waitlist movement I have no idea how many will be included in it.

The MDI drama unfolds finally.Today was the worst day of my life.
Waitlisted at 656 i had expected a sure shot convert in first list. BUt.. waitlist moves by 2.. cudnt believe my eyes.:shocked:
MDI has self created this problem.. and the sufferers are waitlisters and poor guys who hoped for a PGPM upgrade and paid for HR. Till last year becoz of three separate lists there was no such drama.. no need to pay fees just for upgradation sake and hence no long wait. To add to the misery, the buffer calls.
Now according to the current scenario:
1) Dont think there will be any significant movement in PGPM. guys who wanted to withdraw wud hav done that by now.
2) The movement will be only because of the people who wud withdraw from HR who dont want PGPM. (Hopes shattered by now)
3) All this will happen not before 17th 18th.. which leaves very little time for new entrants to arrange everything.
4) what abt people who get admitted after college starts ? how are they suppose to study that huge syllabus and give test??

I m sure MDI ADcom has learnt a very good lesson and would have a better and efficient system next yr.
My sympathies with all the upgrade hopefuls and waitlisters.. ATB to all..
