"Went to IMT admin today.. took up our queries and got these answers. The guy patiently answered all the doubts. But i will request all of you to please verify at your own level before taking a major step which might be based on any information below, as all this was orally communicated to me and I cant be held responsible in case there are any changes from their end.
DCP related:
Definitely you are eligible for upgradation but the only concern which the guy had was how will you know whats your rank within DCP. So a guy ranked 1 in DCP is in a totally different position as compared to the one at 120. So according to him one shouldnt totally bank on upgradation.
If you are upgraded the balance extra amount will be transferred internally.(as DCP amount is more than Ghaziabad campus). So no worries for that.
The main issue is if you guys are sure you are NOT joining DCP and are paying for it only to be in the race to get upgraded then there is a small problem. The refund process in DCP comes under DUBAI law.. where in you might lose 10% of the amount while taking the refund. (this was totally new to me and i couldnt verify this from anyone else). Moreover the wire transfer and transaction charges will be borne by you. So i suggest please call up admin office again and ask before taking the plunge.
Moreover due to the buffer calls major upgradations are unlikely.
Upgradation Related/2nd list:
They are waiting for the drafts till 4th May.. Only after that will they again start sending mails according to the movement. Still no clarity. Ranks still not available.
Hostel (AC/location):
All hostels are within campus. These will be PRE allotted and we cant chose are roomies beforehand Nor can we go and stay before the program commences.
On the day of registration one needs to apply for AC accommodation which is again twin sharing.(which doesnt make sense as for 4-5 months they will be charging 1lac per room..so this needs to be checked again). Payment for that will be accepted in the form of DD. (only after allotment)
Refund procedure:
One needs to write an application for refund and sign it and either courier it or scan and mail. You will receive the cheque at your registered address..(where you received the admission letter). You dont need to personally collect it. Time 10-30 days for the refund to be processed.
Refund amount according to AICTE(he asked me to go to their site and read) which is.. you will get all the amount except 1000. But the rule says (according to the guy there) that in case a seat which you leave say around the time session begins and is left vacant then its upto the management to decide how much to refund or whether to refund at all (thats aicte rule)..(this type of situation hasnt ever arrived in IMT as there are always takers especially for Ghaziabad campus but he couldnt guarantee it) . So just to be totally sure that you get your money back the guy suggested to withdraw/make up your mind within a week or 10 days from 4th may which is fair as all results will be out till then except one or two. This doesnt mean you wont get your money back if you take refund around mid june.
Receipts:
All receipts will be handed over to us with break ups on the day of registration. So no worries for that. What I got (or anyone who personally goes and deposits the DD there) is a receiving of the DD..and not the receipt.
Session start:
He said for sure its mid june..but didnt divulge any date. (again will be mentioned in the joining letter which hasnt been dispatched as of now)
Prospectus :
Prospectus was dispatched for everyone..he showed me the list along with the individual courier numbers.. but like me many didnt receive it.. The courier service sucked i guess.
Stream swapping/freezing/downgrading:
Okay their rules says.. this is not allowed. No swapping or freezing your second priority or down grading. BUT you can approach the management when the course begins and individually it will be looked into and their discretion will be final. Basically they dont encourage. One can still write in and try..no procedure as such. So even if you find a partner for a swap..its only half the job done.

What documents to be submitted:
Will be mentioned in the joining letter and to be submitted on the day of joining.
PS: For placement related queries one needs to get in touch with the college(campus) guys ..admin couldnt help. Call up IMT campus and ask for APO(ext).

I have to say you have done quite a bit before you took your decision. You will absolutely climb up faster in life.

people who absolutely don't study are the ones who complain.

I don't know any b-school in the top 20 that has got 140 companies and companies which any other b-school will plead to have.

People are also tending to forget that this was a very bad year and to top it off, the batch also is the first online cat batch. When are commenting they are forgetting the fact that in the same breath, schools much higher up the proverbial rank order are yet to place students, even if they have two ii's infront of their name.

Do enough research - Like I said, there is no better place than linkedin to find out about a b-school. Always go for non-biased third party validated information to judge a college. Not Perception. If perception was the parameter, ISB would never become what it is today...when in its early years people would have gone through many other higher ranked colleges but today ISB remains the only b-school in India to have instant international recognition for "Not Following The Norms". But the lowest in such colleges does go to 3.5 lpa or sometimes not even get placed. But the highest goes till a humongously large number. This btw, happens in harvard, kellogg, wharton, lse as well. Thats how the new b-school scenario will be - you will get to choose your own destiny.

Also, you only get to understand what happens in a b-School once you get there and you can not know things about Indian B-Schools unless you study in the top 20. So commenting judging and having "perceptions" is of no use.

Remember life is a bell-shaped curve. You get to decide where you are in that curve. No one can place or displace you unless you yourself want to.

However, every year, IMT comes up with a tie up with some bank with the lowest interest rates. Wait for the mail from IMT regarding details about that scheme. In the meantime, you can keep you documents ready. the list of documents reqd is almost same for most banks. you can get that list of docs. reqd from SBI website.

moreover , i had a conversation with a person named Mr. Ashutosh , of SBI Ghz branch, who deals with the section of scholar loans and he sent me a mail regarding the details. If anyone wants the same, just give me your e mail id and ill forward it.

I had the same issue.. First thing first.. Calling up 'helpline' isn't going to do any good.. They don't know anything..They will give you the number of a guy who won't pick up your call or just cancel it..
There is no use expecting a reply after mailing them because they will never reply..
When I sent my 50,000 wala DD, I had sent a written application to change my address.. Called them, mailed them, shouted at the helpline number.. No response.. Finally when I received the mail to pay up 1,75,00 I noticed that the address had been changed.. So the bottom line is that just do everything possible and hope for change in the address..

Hi Seniors, couple of queries but relevant I guess:

1) The official website talks about 2 majors. Here is the exact wording: "You have a choice to major in either one or two specializations, i.e. you could choose to major in Marketing and Finance or only in Marketing." So what exactly does a major in 2 specializations mean? And if we have an option of selecting the electives on our own, then how does the specialization that we are being allotted now matters?


2) I have currently got Finance @ Ghaziabad campus. I had given PGDM-FT as my first preference, and I m still uncertain as to which specialization suits me best(I know its nt a good state to be in). Given the scenario, aren't the IB guys better as they have the liberty to choose either finance or marketing and the course differs in only a couple of subjects(AFAIK)?

Please enlighten me.. Thanks.

Looks like a lot of people are withdrawing their admission. Hoping for a massive movement bcoz I want an up gradation from DCP.

I dont want to demorlise you as i am from dcp too. but If we wise fully saw that dcp people need to submit money in emirates bank.If DCP really would have been on their cards of up-gradation they should ask some lesser amount and in the ghaziabad branch which can be easily transfer to emirates bank in case of no upgradation. but they didn't do it for some reason ,may be too many buffer calls. Now I am realising I did the mistake by neglecting the buffer calls post some where in between in this thread from page 180-200 if I am not wrong.
