Dunno re... verbal went gud cos there were few RCs...cos im pathetic at them. even today one RC i got 3 out of 5 wrong..

QA i dint find toooo tough.. i mainly scored in the AP GP wala 2 markers... and an odd 2 marker here and there... DI i screwed up half my 2 markers... Attemtped 3 DS.. got em all wrong..i found one markers to be quite okk..

But then im known for my inconsistency... So can only hope for the best on D Day

VA was nice... DI got 4 two marker swrong!!! horrendous!! otherwsie it was quite ok.. LRs... if u choose the rite set were very simple..

First of all thanks for the kind words yesterday. I appreciate it.
I had heard that FCT 5 was easy so kept it back for a morale boost before the CAT. Gave it in the morning today. And the score was better than I expected. Honest. Everything seemed to just fall into place. I know my score is just average when compared to the studs out here, who might even have crossed 100. Anyways, here they are:

Section 1:
PS/DI/LR:
1 markers: 40/31/9: Net 28:)
2 markers: 1/1/0 : Net 2

Section 1: 30 :)

Section 2:

1 markers: 49/39/10: Net 35.67
2 markers: 5/5/0 : Net 10

Section 2: 45.67never got so much before!!!


Total: 75.67

These stupid silly mistakes....grrrr.....

Look at Q.47,48,52,53 did any of you guys have a problem here??

Ps had a bunch of sitters I messed up by commiting mistakes like 1/5 * 1/5 = .25

Chill dude you're not the only one! My scores have shown a decline steeper than Ganguly's scoring rate! From 60 in Sim7 to 59 in Sim8 to a Rocking 40 in FCT10!!

I gave FCT 8 today and had certain doubts:

Q.83 - While taking the LCM should I not convert those fractions into lowest forms? Doing so would give u the answer 13200 which is divisible by all the individual times mentioned. Where am I doing the mistake?

Q.84 - They factorized and removed n+7 from numerator and denominator. However This cancellation is possible only when n+7 is not zero and according to the solution, n = -7 for which the above expression becomes zero. How is this possible for a solution then? Shouldn't the answer then again be non-zero negative no. close to zero and hence 4?

Are my fundas wrong or has IMS faultered?

yaar , i still think that i havent done justice enuf to help u in QA , but its all very subjective in nature and really difficult to propagate .but really one thing that i wud like to add is taht never get the QA section go above you , always have control over your mind while attempting QA , if u find difficult getting 10 , believe me nobody is getting it .

and thanx for the spelling tip , hope that helps me in CAT.

Net : 69.5

Though an interesting paper, such a format will never appear in CAT....coz they cant have section cut offs as each section had a mix of everything and CAT wont be able to test u on diverse areas...I may do all english ( or maths ) only and score a grand 75-80.......
weird paper really !!! I wont recommend it to people who havent taken it still...........

I have left FCT 5 and 6 for the time being as i want to do all the 3 section papers first due to lack of time...

here are the splits ..lesser than some of the studs here , but nevertheless , i rather happy
(Paper has half markers and one markers in Subsections A and B respectively)

Okies this is for Maverick123 , Termi and the others who cannot attempt all papers and wish to attempt the tougher ones

i found FCT 5 to be on the easier side(got 65), FCT 6 to be on the much easier side
(maverick123, hope ur listenin cuz i believe these were on ur list of fct's to take)

i say this cuz ive broken into the 70's only twice in my entire series of mocks , one was in FCT 6,2004 IMS Paper, and now again in FCT 6,2005 IMS paper

and in case ur wonderin , im a final yr student, got the old fct's thru frnds and am takin some of them selectively

In case either of u have access to Time mocks, i wud suggest u try AimCAT 0610 .. its a rather tough paper IMHO (read real tough a la FCT 4)

these are my opinions , based on my own performance in these mocks ... hope they are of use.

and yes i remember u once asked some tips in QA . i was too busy then so cudnt rply to u .anyways here my $ 0.02.

1. dont attempt ur weak areas at all . thr might be a sitter but still its better to leave by law of probability.conc. strong areas. go after 1 markers preferably.
2.attempt sequentially .
3. dont give more than 40 mins to QA , will only worsen the situation.

i can go on and on but thr is no use in repeating wat u already know . u r ur best jugde . think and apply wat is best for u. and moreover dont worry abt QA cutoffs , it s lower than wat u think .

I recommend taking them on 15th/16th or 17th ......May be easy but atleast these are more similar to CAT than FCT-4. ..
If not anything they will atleast boost up your moral....

This posting is for all who feel that they cannot complete all the FCT's, and must go to CAT with some FCT's untouched.

If you are one among the lot, Throw away FCT 4 and FCT 7, They are total crap. For

1. FCT 4 destroys your confidence and it will be pretty difficult to come out again with a positive feel with just 11 days remaining.

2. FCT 7 is highly verbal intensive, and

2 a. if you are weak in verbal it you will score a paltry aggregate in that, that will discourage you.

2 b. if you are strong in verbal and cross some 70 or 75+ you will get a false security.

So throw away FCT 4 and FCT 7 if you can take a maximum of 8 FCT's only.

For others who are determined and have time to take all 10, go and just do those two too. But cool down if you fail in FCT 4 and FCT 7. If you succeed in FCT 7, be happy, but just be careful.

Scores in FCT-1 : (in terms of marks)

DI - 39/33/6 - 31.00 (I did attempt the q.38 which has been wrongly solved but am counting that one as unattempted)
QA - 32/26/6 - 24.00
Eng - 48/32/16 - 26.67
Total - 119/91/28 - 81.67

Bad day in English section. Got 3 of the 5 two-markers wrong. Also FIBs were a bit confusing.

Looks like everyone has cracked this paper.
