i had performd reasonbly well in simcat 1 (arnd 90 %tile) n i had high hopes of doin well in d upcomin simcats
but thn i hav been comitin thz so calld avoidabl errors.....in all d simcats (2,3 n now also 4) i hav been leavin qns whch i can do easily at home..for ex in simcat 4 i didnt read d 1st few easy di puzzls whch i cud hav done...in rcs i hav been abl 2 find out d 2 most appropriat ans..but end up chosin d wrng 1 alwyz!!!
in maths i hav been leavin d easy qns n end up being stuck with d diffclt 1s.nd i hav been makin some of d silly(really silly..) mistakes whch is makin life more miserabl 4 me

it wud hav been ok if i cud hav faced 1 of ths prblms only in d simcats.but due 2 my bad bad luck i hav been facin thm all2gthr!!!

You sure only your form no is giving that error? Coz I would expect their setup to cleanly handle 'errors'..
I suspect their server is down,and so anyone's form no wont work..

IMS is asking for the CAT registration number and CAT admit card for the simcat05. Unfortunately, I haven't received the admit card yet. Is there any other person who has not received the admit card till now?

shouldve scored more...had to skip 2 passages in rc
couldnt really concentrate on section 4 ....not that it wouldve mattered...

wouldve preferred the 'simulated' environment...my fault actually...came in late and a couple of guys had just finished up on an mct...

on the whole...overwhelmed to the point that im not taking this seriously

hi dude,

i dont have the paper with me right now cos i'm in office and i can't remember what i attempted but i think i did around 20 marks worth with 3 wrong. I think u misunderstood me in the 'hating calculation' context. What i meant was that i hate doing questions which require you to solve them right to the end. I prefer the 'eliminate-tick-move on' type of questions which is more of what comes in cat.

In DI, though it was required to calculate ratios and numbers but as far as i can remember, i could eliminate two options out of four within a minute in the questions that i attempted. Thereon, it was usually gut instinct.(if i eventually marked it, that is )... There was hardly any LR in Section 4 if i remember correctly. Though there were some LR sets combined with DS.

I gave around 25 min to Section 2 and around half an hour each to the other three...

Section 1B was one section in which i freaked out a little. After Section II, i immediately went to the two markers in section I. Almost all of them were toughies, and 15 minutes into the section i was still stuck on section 1B with only 5 attempts, i think, to show for it... eventually got one wrong. Realised a little later on that Section 1A was a cakewalk...

had a look at my scores yesterday. had a TERRIBLE MCT3 last night. so today didnt really feel like posting my scores. but saw some ppl that one shudnt lose hope. still dont feel that positive but still will try and analyse MCT3 when i go back home.

my scores:
Sct 1: 17
Sct 2: 18.16
Sct 3: 3.33
Sct 4: 4.33 (got 1 more wrong than expected, other sections confirmed to what i had calculated)
Overall: 42.82 (92.** percentile)

seriously, i find it difficult to analyse a paper if the score falls below 40. anyways, bye.

i dont think u need to hit the quant books again...just analyze ur performance ..adn work on the topics u r not comfortable with...

if u r able to solve the same sums again...u need not go bak to the quanr books..

it was just an off day for u...

u will surely do well in future tests

hey kunal,

i think the problem lies in the fact that i attempt quant questions purely on logic so i dont recall important formulae at times. In fact, the other day i forgot the forumula for he sum of squares of n consecutive numbers and had to derive it in the paper itself:) . This logical approach fails miserable whenever there is functions or graphs or any other topic which requires you to know a formula or else calulate an answer (which is another thing i hate doing, i HATE calculating)... but i think you are right on the front that i should analyse my paper. After the paper itself i saw that i could have gotten at least a score of 11 or 12.

But i still dont know if its prudent to try to gain expertise in topics that you are uncomfortable with with just 30 days to go for CAT.

SIMCAT1 : 97.33
SIMCAT2 : 98.44
SIMCAT3 : 98.21
SIMCAT4 : 98.40

One distressing point is that i have always missed cutoff in some section...and that section keeps changing...SIM4 got me in verbal....need to be more consistent across all sections and push the total a little further up...

boy!!! u have awesome consistency. believe me thts all u'll need to maintain. clearing cutoff's will happen boss , its no big deal. its nothing like simcat's are an exact replica on the actual CAT. wht matters is whether we have decent performances in not just one , but all of them. tht means u have the core competency to clear CAT. n its very clear tht u have it

Simcat1 : air 330, simcat 2 : drop of 1000 ranks : 1330 EEEEEEKSSS
Simcat3 : air 830 (minimal improvmenet) Simcat 4: 98.9 percentile..

it seriously is very difficult to be consistent.. u can only keep trying.. and hope for the best...

actually what u said is so very true! Its only the D-day dat matters..especially for ppl like me(and probably you ) whose percentile keeps on fluctuating like anything.My percentiles normally range from 95-99. but its jst dat if i hit 99 on one day..it falls all the way to 95 in the very next mock.
so overall we shouldnt be rattled alot by mock scores( though its easier said than done)..even I have experienced the lows and highs..but ultimately I have stopped worrying abt my scores now.I just make it a point to do my best and somehow try to keep my percentiles arnd the 98.5-99 mark.

Just go & analyse ur tests and make ur percentile graphs move upwards. I am sure it will reach the peak on 20th Nov
