Hi,

I have converted IMI Delhi and a few others. I have a few queries based on which I will be choosing a B-School. Please reply to these queries.

1. I would like to do my MBA in Finance and I am also eying in clearing CFA level 1 exam. I would like to know if there is any assistance(guidance from professors) for such kind of certifications?

If you have heard of Mr. Sanjay Dhamija...he's the God of finance, just not saying like anything, check his credentials

2. I would like to know how much do i have to pay(not quantitative by descriptive) if i go for student exchange program with a foreign university? I mean do i need to only bear the travel, food and lodging expenses there or do i also need to bear the cost of study for the 2-3 months that i go there???

3. How strong is your Alumni network? I know that there are some eminent Alumni but i would like to know how strong is the network, Alumni meets conducted, response from alumni, etc???

Alumni meets are conducted in major cities like bang, mumbai , kolkata, and one or 2 more
and once in a year, the annual Alumni meet happens in the IMI campus.
IMI is worknig hard rebuilding its alumni n/w, coz not much attention was being given to it in the initial, but now its very strong.

4. How much MDP work comes to the institute and to what extent are students involved in it???

IMI can boast of MDPs equal in comparision to the top notch b schools, coz wen it comes to faculties, it has much better ones than others in the league, dont believe me? check the IMI site for yourself.but not much work for MDP comes to the students

5. On what field are the profs more inclined to in researching?(To explain in engineering perspective, in some colleges the profs are more inclined about image processing, in some colleges it is robotics)

6. How much are the co-curricular activities are the students encouraged to participate in?? How many business meets, varied programs conducted, invites from other B-Schools(i know the consolidated names from the website but want to know the ground situation for the current year) and such stuff for the exposure of students??

Helluva chances u'll get, it all depends on how much interest do you show in participating in the competitions, IMI gets invite from all the B schools in India in which you would like to participate, now its upto you how many screenings do you clear, and yeah , faculties will always be there to help you with this too

everything is good in itself, and anyways this answer is not gonna change your sub choice, it all depends on your interest.

I had paid for being considered in the WL on 2nd May...and when I asked the person abt the number of ppl who had already paid...he said about 150...I think its very unlikely for me to get a convert...thinking of withdrawing soon

I called the office... And the answer was no holding number movements... And my friend who had holding number 6 in the mail has not got any phone or mail...

My hold no is 16. she asked my name, checked but said that "10 have cleared". So i tried to confirm that my hold no is 6 due to that. she said "yes, 10 have cleared". This is the best that i got as an answer from their side

And even in MDI , IIT Bombay and IIT Delhi , there was last year waiting list movement till 200, 100 and 100 resp. I am taking lot of names of colleges to just calm the nerves. These figures I am quoting are on the lesser side, actual nos would be +10-20 calls(just giving the round figures).

you are correct but do they have 200 buffer calls in their 1st list...
i think this can be the reason..however it's just a thought. i think waitlist movement will occur however the amount of movement will be less than last year.

How strong is imi's alumni network

Its great..IMI was started in 1981(though initially we had only executive programs)..U can make a guess in 30 yrs time, the alumni must be in what senior positions.
