Sorry for posting on this thread after a long long time.

For those people who extensively used this thread, and also those who are in iim I.

Remember there was a guy called nitesh agarwal ID gemini the great. I was really shocked to see his name right now at 1am on live television. Heard the news that he along with a fellow students have been missing in a dam where they went for picnic. They were last seen on an amateur video footage, struggling in what seem to be a nasty flow of water.

The rescue operation has been postponed till early morning. Lets all the puys pray for Nitesh and Neha and hope they are alive and safe.

I was WL45 in the original List :(.. 25 in the second list ..??: and Now I am WL 1 .. So it seems that the list moved 24 places this time ..

The Admissions person told me to check again on 25th and now I am as nervous as hell ..

Have my fingers crossed and hoping for the best....

Well, the Black Magic continues...L wl has cleared till 85 (yes thats an eighty-five). Considering that their session starts next week, this should be more or less, their final movement.

Ppl start praying!!

that means WL in ABC combined has moved by some 55

Now in first shot the WL at L moved by 25 at L...the list that came out on 15th may...



then how this magic figure of 40 came at lucknow.???????...if u can see there is not much scope of such a large movement in WL was possible ....
And if there is some BLACK MAGIC working at IIM WL conversion this time...then I JUST hope something similar takes place at Indore also this time......

and WL moves by a huge value...

as far i know, total no. of seats are :
A - 180
B - 180
C - more than 180 ( don't know exactly )
L - more than 180 ( don't know exactly )
K - 140

Nevertheless We need to pass time and also keep our hopes ..intact till the time .Indore starts with its classes ..So I am presenting my few bit of calculations ...people dont get angry, its just an attempt to keep the thread alive and please correct me if theres any wrong assumptions.

1. Total GDPI calls = 1800
2. Total Rejects = 800
3. Total offers to 350 students for 140 seats ratio 1 seat to 2.5 candidates.
4. 650 waitlisted candidates
5. 2+3+4 = 1800
6. 1st waitlist moved by 20 going by 1 to 2.5 ratio that means there were 8 seats vacant after first date.
7. Assuming there is another 5 seats vacant I will guess the number of calls to be 5 * 2.5 that makes it 12.5 candidates to be called .

So lets see if this is anywhere close ..to what is happening ...I am sure. .there would be more ...equations ..but I am trying a little simplistic approach ..!

Darn, I thought this analysis business was done to death, and very nicely too (with ref to rani's analysis). but what the hell, i hv no work :)
GDPI calls ~ 1800 give or take 5%
Finals calls...and we know this for a fact: 676 (ratio 3.76)
Waiting List ~ 450 again give or take 2-3%
Rejections ~ 600-650
Assuming similar ratio, 20/3.76=5 seats out of 140 (Note: this assumption is generalizing SC/ST quota calls also. Ratio for general cat calls will probably be much higher)
This is probably why waiting list didn't move on the 29th, because they'd probably filled up more than 140 seats.
Now, the only reason the WL might move further is due to late WL movemnt in BC&L; (A's movement was accounted for by the 16th I think) causing withdrawals. C has moved by around 10...can't say if that will have any affect on I (too small a no.); B has been calling candidates over the phone..I guess very few calls there too; L on the other hand has relatively gone berserk with 65 clearing...This is everyone's last and final hope. But if we assume minimal movement, I guess IIMI might decide to forego the waitlist altogether, and start calling candidates as and when requirements arise (till just after registration even)

14th is the last date for accepting withdrawals. Going by previous record, IIM-I might decide to wait till 15th.
In any case we should have an update by the 16th in the worst case, and 15th ideally.

Anyway, June 14th is the last date for withdrawals this year (written withdrawals have to reach them by post before this date). I guess they've filled up more than 140 seats, and they need quite a few withdrawals for the WL to move any further :|

The list with numbers last year didn't start clearing till after June 20th. I know this year has not been like previous ones but I just want to say that there still is hope.

Am I actually reading more into it:satisfie:... or is there a chance that seats might actually increase(Its sound weird and even bizarre typing this... but u know how it is ... hoping against hope ). I can't even properly make out what the article means... its all so vague.

Now, since HRD ministry has come up a notice to the IIMs stating that the intake should be as per last year until further notice and if it so happens that OBC quota is not implemented this year, is there a possibility that IIM I increases the seats for 2007 at the final stage before the program starts?(that is if HRD gives a go for capaciy expansion without OBC quota)
(Questions keep popping up... can't help it).

May be any one of the seniors can find out from the concerned authorities if there is such a possibility...

Like most of you guys, I too have lost most of the enthu by now... Just hoping for a miracle ... This certainly looks like one if it does...
So... the real question is "Do miracles actually happen in life?"

What I could not understand ....why do they have a ..policy of checking in 15 days why cant they have a dynamic wl movement, called up yesterday to know that I will have to call today ..then called up today to know .call after 4:00 ..and then I get to hear "no change" ! I think they could have done better than the way its getting done till now !

Another FYI post...I just talked to a PG who had withdrawn admission from IIM Indore sometime after 20th May. He was told his withdrawal process would not be completed before 14th of June.
I don't want to be speculating, but it seems the 20 ppl earlier filled up the seats pretty well, and it all depends on the people withdrawing after that week of 16th May, till b4 June 14th.
In other news, I'm beginning to prepare for CAT from this weekend.
