What is an augmented wait list?

There is a selection list of about 120. Once it gets exhausted there will be movement in the waitlist which is about 250 this time. Once the waitlist is entirely exhausted then movement in augmented waitlist starts. Given the 250 waitlist calls, I dont see any use of this augmented waitlist.

As per chronology, 18th is quite an auspicious date for IIM results. I will keep a watch on my gmail till 12:15 AM and then go to sleep.

Did anyone call up the admission office...this wait is unbearable...!!....last year they were out on 18th ...can we expect the results today..?....

during my process, they checked only the call letter. They dint even check any originals/copies.. Not even work ex certificates..

Same goes for all the people in my slot including me. No certificates were checked. I guess that should be the case for all those who were interviewed.
I had forgotten to carry my call letter but the checker said just the CAT score card would also suffice. :)
So no need to be worried.

That happens all the time. Sending emails is a day's job but it takes longer to put up a link with 2000 selection status where there is no margin of error at all.

PI EXPERIENCE : One of the smartest Panel i have ever seen :clap::clap:...Grilled in GK, Academics (didnt ask more questions from workex) Seems like there is no preference for Workex guys (personal opinion)...COULD'VE DONE BETTER...

Overall Verdict : Going by my PI, Very difficult to convert considering the fact that there are almost 2000 candidates fighting for 120 seats

Questions in PI
GP came to call me inside. I came in and sat down. Though I was the last person in my panel and it was past 6pm when my turn came, the panelist did not show any sign of exhaustion. All of them were smiling and full of energy. :)
GP - So Gautam. What other famous personalities share your name?
Me - Gambhir, Buddha.... was interrupted there
GP - So whom do you think is or was greater.
Me - Buddha sir.
GP - What made his religion so popular decades after his death?
Me - Spoke about incidents of Ashokas life, how people were weary of religions full of superstition and expensive rituals and needed a clearer mode.
EP - Centuries ago, Lord Krishna had used "tricks" to ensure Pandavas won the Mahabharat. Was he justified in doing so?
Me - Gave instances of Dronacharya, Karna, etc. Defended Krishna and mentioned that the bigger picture was the people of Hastinapura who would be at a loss if Kauravas were to retain their reign.
EP - So you mean to say, 2 decades ago PV Narsimha Rao indulging in cash for vote is justified too.
Me - Of course. His government gave India the much needed NIP, 1991. The bigger picture consists of the massive growth and recovery that the Indian economy has shown since 1991. Threw in the example of Chanakya.
GP - Neighboring states of Maharashtra.
Me - Told.
GP - What are the pros and cons of having 6 surrounding states.
Me - Mentioned transportation benefits, cultural exchange etc. Cons would be sharing of resources like river water and forests.
(Had a 5 min discussion on river disputes and nationalization of the resource)
GP - Give us your views on the validity of demanding Telangana as a seperate state. Has carving out a new state ever been beneficial?
Me - Told. With examples of Uttarakhand performing better after separation.
GP - What is the Sri Krishna Committee?
Me - Sir. It has something to do with Telangana. Dont know anything else.
AP took over from here
AP - What courses did you study during your graduation years?
Me - Started naming them. I was stopped at Special Studies in Finance .
AP asked several application based questions on capital budgeting. IRR, Payback profitabilty, NPV, discounting factor etc.
Answered most of them.
AP scanned through my marksheets and spotted Managerial Accounting.
AP - What did you study in this particular subject?
Me - Financial Ratios. Final accounts.
AP - Questions on RoI, Return on Equity, Current Ratio etc.
Answered most again.
AP - Why do we need final accounts? Which parties refer to it?
Me - Answered.
AP, GP, EP - Ok. We are done. Exchanging smiles Please take some toffees.
Reached for Coffee Bite. Took 2.
Duration of PI - 20+ mins.

My preparation - 3/5
Panelists were very friendly. No pressure situation or stress interview of any sort. I had to wait for more than 2 hours for my interview but had great company from other people who had come for the interview. Overall a wonderful experience. :grin:

We were asked to write a small essay before discussing for around 9-10 min. Everybody presented their viewpoint. I made the LEAST contribution.

I called up IIM Shillong office and explained the complete scenario to them. They told me to drop a mail again with all the details next week (and told not to drop the mail this week) and they said this would be taken care of.

So what we can do now is drop a mail next week on friday and inform them.I guess this is what we can do. Baaki bhagwan ji ke haath chhor dete hai :)

Sure, I will also drop the mail next friday, 30th March, that is. Lets hope everything to be fine! :)
