Is it fair to assume that a large percentage of the population who appeared for the written test actually made the GD/PI cut?

I was also able to check the result over the phone. So now preparation for GD-PI start. Can any body throw light on GD topic and PI questions, so it can be a valued guidance.

I was able to check on the results today in the evening. Waiting for the final confirmation on email.

Called the admission office at 5p; was informed that the results were expected later in the evening. They advised me to call back tomorrow morning to check...

Folks the results are out, would need to call the IIML NOIDA office in case you want to check the results.

Interviews would be in second week of May it seems and formal emails would be coming soon.

Here is my 2 cents on this topic...
At a point of time each of us will hit a glass ceiling where there is no more vertical growth in career. Thats the point where an MBA (eMBA or WMP) will come into play.
As just BTECH/BE there is only so much you can grow in todays industry, we need that edge (aka Business acumen) to move to the next level where things are more than what we do today. The understanding of all aspects of business is something I am looking forward from an MBA personally.
That edge comes from an MBA and the comparison between an EMBA or WMP is negligible after about 5 odd years (post the MBA) if you have the right brand name and potential.
So with a goal that MBA is a necessity; the path is a very personal choice. As long as you are getting the right Knowledge, the career opportunities will follow.
Not everyone can afford a year off from work and a break in their careers and in any case the campus recruitment offers do not even match the last salary in many cases
So my personal choice is clear, and right now its just a wait for the results

BTW, does anybody know, what kind of preparation should be done for GD and PI?

I think career growth is more depend on an individual. As we see in IT industry, IIT graduates and other BTech college passed out are working at same level. So Its all depend how one en-cash one's potential.
I have heard from mine friend, who is doing EMBA from IIML, they teach exactly same in WMP as in EMBA.
As per mine understanding a MBA value is its education and networking it provide.
So its all depend on individual whether he wants to take same education through EMBA or WMP.

@Gaurav, agree with the WMP quality n brand differentiators and the importance of formal education (the reasons I had applied for the course in the first place); also partly agree that a full time EMBA and WMP are not an apple for apple comparison.

However, semantics aside, my yardstick for comparison for courses is the projected professional growth i.e. both Knowledge and Career prospects, 2-3 years post course completion; I believe 5 years is long enough a term in the industry you and I belong to. With WMP, I don't doubt the "K" part at all, I'm just not sure about the "C" part.

Anyhow, this discussion holds weight only if one qualifies for WMP in the first place and for me that part is more uncertain than anything else right now

I agree with Dk2012 for the most part. I also think that bharti school was the only centre, and the people applying to this course has really went down. One of the possible reason could be the high cost of this course and no immediate gain.

Although i would like to point out few benefits:
1. A formal management education has its benefits in the long term. Even though you may not get your dream job just after completing this course, but your chances of eventually reaching there increase tremendously.
2. Having a brand name of IIM, definitely gives you an advantage.
3. it would be wrong to compare this course with any full time course(executive or regular). The competition is with other such courses (like part time MBA from FMS, or IMT, NIIT imperia MBA courses, etc.). In comparison to them, WMP is much much better in each and every sense.

If you have a long term view of your carrier and looking for quality education, while you can continue your current job, then I think WMP is a good choice.

1, 267 ppl scheduled@BPS, however, only 235 odd actually showed up. Usually (hear say) BPS is the only center
2,3, GD/PI shortlist email is sent in abt 3 wks from the date of the written test
4, IIML NC is not expected to reduce the # of seats (unless obviously they cant find 120 suitable ppl)

IMO WMP is losing sheen, owing to -
1, No Placements (well no "official" placements to be precise)
2, Demanding nature of the course

(Crudely put "loads of pain for very little or no gain")

#1 is a real dampener for most, as people look for a MBA (or PGP) to land themselves a "chum" job outside of their current employer/ career stream/ industry.

The course is good for the rare few who are keen to pick up formal mgmt education from a premier institute, in order to excel in their existing or potential managerial jobs with their current employers. Most importantly, people who can strike a balance between work, personal life and the course - which is evidently a TOUGH ASK.

I hear that majority of the population who sign up for the course struggle to keep pace; some drop out and some barely scrape through - largely because there is no carrot (read incentive) of a "chum" job at the end. WMP students have made efforts to setup a placement cell etc, however, it hasn't yielded a lot (not as yet anyway). IIML NC cannot assist in the placement efforts per the limitations associated with nature of approvals sought at the time of setting up the course.

A full time EMBA is therefore a better bet any day (unless you belong to the "rare few").. worth the extra moolah you spend, the salary you forgo and the dedicated time you devote.

** The above response is based on my limited understanding of the course as an outsider, coupled with inputs from some insiders. Happy to be corrected by someone who can present a case otherwise, obviously supported with data points **

Exactly what i was panning to post -

1. There were 267 candidates in the Bharti Public school, did anyone get an invite to any other center ?
2. Any clues when the results would be out ?
3. Are they declared on the website, or will we get a email / call ?
4. Does anyone know if there are still 120 seats like last year ?

In case there were just 267 candidates, i think thats a reduction in usual number of applicants to WMP over the years.

Is there something that needs to be read into the above statement ?

Not started as yet. Its difficult to take out time from work. Besides I don't have any study material and don't know the format of CAT. So the picture is a little glum right now. what approach are you taking for preparation? What study material are you referring to?

My short intro : B.Tech(production & Industrial), working in reputed PSU as commercial executive with in hand 2 yr work exp. (core)
Since i m in PSU and in psu doing mba will nt give me in return anything so want to leave my company.

I would like to ask following questions to seniors from IIML who did WMP:-
1. if IIML is nt offering any placement assistance then how is off-campus placement?
2. company accepts WMP as regular MBA if some 1 do it from IIM?
3. i shall be doing part time mba from delhi, so i am having option of FMS and IIFT, so which one is gud in term of brand name(part time mba), study timing, etc.

Hi Sunny,

Part Time Prog can not be that good in terms of significance & value as Full Time Prog. If you compare by fees of EMBA and WMP then cost of EMBA would be almost three times (EMBA fees and 1 yr you will be unpaid).
but definitely EMBA would be far better in terms of scope, relevance, placement, recognition and further prospects.

When exactly your GD/PI going to happen (date/time)?

Any one who got call for GD/PI from IIML.

I have got a GD/PI call for the 2011 session. My interview is in the next couple of days. Would be really nice of you if you could please provide some inputs on the below points.
1. How is the course like? Does it have similar relevance as a regular MBA? I am asking this because some companies mention specifically about Regular MBAs, meaning they do not think so highly of the part time ones.
2. Do they give an IIML degree/dip? Where is the convocation held?
3. Do WMP grads also have equal Almuni status as Regular IIML grads? OR does it have a separate Alumni body for IIML-Noida?
4. Are the classes manageable with the regular office schedule alongside?
I have many more questions as well, but wouldn't like to bug you with so many at one time.
I'd appreciate if you could find some time to answer these questions.

Sorry that I forgot to congratulate you in my previous post. My GD?PI is scheduled on 5th May 2010 at 1400 hours. I am stuck. On 5th & 6th May 2010, my company has short listed me for a 2 day training. The training is one of the costliest trainings in India and I cannot afford to miss that, since I will be sharing the training room with few of the top managers in my company.

Can my GD/PI be shifted to some other day or to some other time on the same day? I know you wont be having an idea on that but you said that you have a friend who took the exam last year. Can you get the desired info please?

As it is mentioned that the structure of the written exam would be same as that of CAT, it would be helpful if you can post the previous years' paper(s) online. It is really good to see professionals around NCR getting interested in WMP Program.
Let me start by a brief introduction first - I am Ankur Goel, a participant at the WMP programme of IIML Noida Campus and also a member of the Student Council, WMP programme.

Let me first start by correcting the Topic of this Thread - WMP programme is not a part-time course but an Evening program. The difference in naming is becoz part-time programme are usually considered to be on the easy side in comparison to the regular MBA programs but WMP programme is rigourous and comparable to the regular MBA program.

WMP programme was started last year and as of now the classes are being held in the PMI campus. The construction work for our own campus has started this year in Noida, sector 62 and it is expected to be completed by next year.

There are 60 seats for which approx. 250 candidates were called last year for GD/PI. Same should be the case this year too.

As far as the reaction of the first batch is considered I am quoting below good words from one of us -

"The Noida Campus of IIML, is trying to bring in a big change in the thought process of industry which till now has despised Evening MBA programs. With the dedicated faculty, either recruited solely for the campus or flown from the IIML main campus, IIML has ensured that there is no compromise in the quality of education imparted.

The strenuous schedule that IIMs are known for in regular MBA, has been replicated to the full at Noida campus's currently running program which is Working Manager's Program (WMP). I have cleared the part time entrance to both IIFT and IIML Noida Campus (WMP) programs. I am really confused which course to join. Im trying to compare the two in terms of branding, course structure, placements (most importantly) and also on the complexity of the course. All in all which one is a more valuable course? The IIFT program had been started in 2000 and the IIM one a few years ago.
Also, is WMP equivalent to an MBA or PGDM degree?

I too wish to ask some questions in regards to WMP. to give a brief intro, so as to enable a better prespective (may be equivalent to what i an intending for) of the situation--" i am having 3+ yrs of experience in IT.. with an Engg. degree (hons) in Electronics and comm.. currently i am pursuing the EPYP course from IIMC. This course provides you with the intro and understanding of management terms and lingua.. but is definately not the replacement for a regular MBA.. so i look forward for a regular or executive MBA"..

now my questions;
a). Does WMP will help me in solving my concerns?
b). What is the usual fee structure.. i couldn't locate a detailed fee structure on IIML-noida campus site?
c). Does it provide placement assistance?
d). Is the mode of teaching is one-to-one teacher-participant(s) interaction or thru VSAT?
e). I heard there is some exchange program with universities located outside India. Is it true?

Here are some commonly asked questions:
Q. What's the exam pattern? How difficult is exam?
A. Exam is on the pattern of CAT. Since the no. of candidates are very less, the competition is much lesser. Expect somewhere between 500-1000 candidates for ~ 60 seats.

Q. Is this course worth doing?
A. Every course in this world is worth doing for some and not worth doing for others. This is a very subjective question and cannot be answered.

Q. I have years of experience in industry. Should I do this course?
A. Its for you to decide. Or ask a career councilor if you are unable to decide. The most I can help is by providing information on this course.

I believe these MBAs are targeted at working professionals. Since people are already working, why provide placements? And regarding the expensive part, usually your company bears the cost. For example, Infosys and Wipro sponsor part time MBAs of their employees at IIM-B.

Does IIML offer any short term course in Management (Personnel/ Financial/ any other) for working persons?
