I am not able to find any syllabus in IIFm website. Its too brief. Can you get me what are all the syllabus covered in all three PGD(Environment, Development and Forest ).
This would give me a wider scope of the courses.

sure Hari, i will let you know!!! no specific course layout!! its very dynamic!! plus some courses r common to 2 or 3 specialisations!! anyway gotta run today!! exams from tomorrow till 4th!! reserve ur queries till then!! will be back on 4th to answer everything!! till then keep this thread going!! and Gaurav has done a lot of talking to IIFMites i guess!! he too can help you with his perspectives.. cheers!!

Speed maths for what aditi speed maths is not required for CAT. Practice it for NMAT. First focus on the basic concepts. According to many people CAT asks more than 90 % of the questions from the basic concepts, but even that basic is not known to us. So it would be better to just try to revise the concepts instead of practicing speed maths. Its my opinion.

i know dis....actually,IIFT is jst after CAT.....so i was plannin to practice sum speed maths 4m now only,for other entrances...i thought if i cud giv evn 1/2 hr per day,it might prove fruitful in NMAT,SNAP,FMS.....thats y i askd for a buk i can refer 2,n soon coz i wanna start now itself

I cant tell you the sectional cutoff percentile exactly. But you can guess from the percentile score of people who got the call or did not get it.
One of my friend didnot get a call with 86 overall %ile sectional well above 55 in each section.
One student of IIFM got a call at around 78%ile with 65+sectional. So you can never guess whats the actual percentile. Now Why I know all this is because I have completed my studies at Bhopal only. So I went there to talk to guys n girls(lol) so they told me about all such stuff. Now one more thing earlier in IIFM it used to be known for PGP in forestry management only but from the last to last year I think they have introduced other courses as electives. So its quite possible that the over all and sectional percentile cutoff may not be same what it used to be. SO be prepared to face the challenge. And let me tell you IIFM is the second best sectoral college in India. IRMA comes first which is known for Rural management, Then comes IIFM so its really a good college. So dont even think that it will call anyone with 55%ile when on the other hand it calling people with even more than 90%ile. I reiterate that it gives equal emphasis to all the three sections, so there is no point of escaping from Quant. You have no other choice but to perform equally good in this section too. as far as i remember on iifm website they hav made proper disclosure this time.
It say 70% for CAT score,10%GD and rest 20 for PI
N as far as pi in concerned it just depends on the panel i guess as all of us had diffrent kind of interview so cant say any thing specific wat they r looking for...


n ya repeating wat inro said pls be sure before coming where n y ur coming as IIFM
as if u not into it then SUSTAINING at IIFM mite be difficult so pls be sure

dear Aditi,please do not get confused!! 55% is not a cut off in the real sense!!! it is the least minimum % u have got to get in each sense!! it is not that anyone and everyone whose got 55% + in each section will get a call for gd/pi. overall % also does matter! so aim for a 90% in CAT overall ensuring a 55% in each section at least!!! hope this clears it!!! as for seats its 75 for your batch entrants!!! this includes the OBC quota!! will clarify this again n let u know asap!! and division of courses happens in 2nd year on a certain set of rules!! the seat numbers r dynamic so dont worry about that now!!! if u perform well in class and ur interested ur sure to get ur choice of specialisation. happy diwali and study well for CAT!!! forms can reach till 5th! and please let us your background in brief too!!

And its clear that no body got call with 50%ile any section. And more or less the sectional scores are same for all the three section. I met there some of the guys with %ile around 80 overall..
So it would be better that you first appear for cat then you can project your percentile according to ur performance then if feel like filing the form then go ahead. And I think you have some wrong information TAPMI gives a call around 90%ile (If i am not wrong).

a debut in CAT with Mocks really bring my Moral down after every time i hit them ::banghead::banghead::banghead:....

Really didn't even Know about the existance such a Institute before I read abt it from PG and did some R&D; . Great place to live is wat i feel .. But there are a lot of questions in my mind... What after Forest management... I don want to get into this corporate hell again Livin just for money.....
but still some confusions in my mind..
that's why asked ur long term objectives.so that i can see the various options out of Forest management.

hey 1st things 1st.. no1s ordinary!!! as far as Mocks go.. yeah they do matter but not entirely... i know people screwing up in mocks and doing great on Judgement Day!! and vice versa!! so do look at mocks but not much!! at least dont lower ur morale for the same!!! confidence beyond everything is required for the D Day in November.. maybe staying cool is another important aspect. yeah true IIFM is not known to everyone but we are working on it.. thats why im posting like a mad guy here. he he!! well see i what about post forest management is what you have got to decide. with the three different specialisations coming in from the 2007-2009 batch things have become a little clearer. trust me you have varied jobs which can enthrall you or send u bonkers!!! its fun nevertheless. read up on these courses in the official website. and then let me know which one do you like.. will help me let you know what all can be done here regarding that!! im in 1st year and still thinking on my preferences!!! so dont be restricted but obviously have your likes n dislikes sorted out. once u join things will get clearer..!! to your questions on the credibility bit of IIFM.. its a big yesss... c'mon do you have any institute of this kind in the country or even in Asia. we r definitely the best in what we cater to. and we are 60 odd folks in a batch so samples and percentages will always look small.. think about it. i have been through these initial inhibitions!! and trust me understand what u r going through. so just 1 plain advise!!! try to think out ur interests!! are they aligned to the mandate of this college!! if yes then u wont feel like kicking yourself when you are here!! yes some of it is strange and alien!! but thats the fun bit of it!! learning stuff which u wouldnt imagine your many generations to get into.

first of all i hope u meant IIFM and not IIFT. See all of us have mentioned that a 90% will definitely ensure u a GD/PI call with a 55% cut off in each section. IIFM doesnt openly come out with these data hence its all the experience we have with the admissions scenario which we can provide to you. percentiles within 80 - 90 also get calls but then i guess chance also plays a role. so try for a 90% at least over all.

really subjective.. every1 will have a varied opinion.. but as for me, i saw myself working in the environmental sector and the businesses related with it. my interests are pretty varied from geo informatics to environmental finance. i still havent made up my mind on the direction i wanna go yet but have a rough idea. why IIFM?? he he!! the most asked question once you are in this college... well many aspects! come and join it and you will know.. :)Hari can we have a little on your background tooregards,Indrozz..

As far as I know the CAT 2008 cut off was 55 %ile in each section. Overall cutoff is not disclosed ... In our batch of PFM2010 almost all are above 88%ile.

My suggestion to you buddy would be to first concentrate on cracking the CAT with a good percentile (the more the merrier), as it would greatly improve your chances.

Yup,To all the aspirants,right now ur goal should be cracking the Nov exam with at least a > 90% score at least with 55% sectionals each for a crack at the IIFM GdPi.

What is the acad. weightage?

Again classified stuff... But the general notion is that max weightage is given to CAT score > then acads , work ex and extra curriculars etc.

As far as I know the CAT 2008 cut off was 55 %ile in each section. Overall cutoff is not disclosed ... In our batch of PFM2010 almost all are above 88%ile.

ok coming back to the query... please visit the website: www.iifm.ac.in for information on y IIFM was set up. pretty much of text on it. next about the PIs i think they look for conviction... they try to look through rote answers on loving environment and helping poor and all... more often than not the panel is too wise to look through the actual objectives of students ending up here... so be honest, or at least be a very good actor..

yeah plcmnts are available in the specific areas of the degrees offered.. and once u r here u will get to know so much that ordinary people dont hence if u find it interesting u will definitely take full advantage of all the opportunities available...

with India being the biggest market now and so much of rural market... and so much of climate change and global warming issues all over dont u think people at IIFM have enough to do or look into?? :)

honest advice:
dont just look for the college and what it does... decide on what u want to do??
a sectoral MBA shdnt be a compromise, it will start hurting...
please ask yourself if ur interested..
and then PLUNGE!!!

well as far as my knowledge goes a 55% percentile cut off in each sections is required. well the higher cut offs make the final cut for gd/ pi.. a 90% overall will most definitely than not get u a gd/pi call and den its ur doing all together.. weightage on acads... honestly i dont know about that.. during my admissions i also had no info on that aspect.. will ask a few fellow buddies n let u know
