hey hi ppl!!am not sure whether this question was covered earlier. but anyways someone please clear it. i saw about the placements in iifm. and saw that wwf was a recruiter. i want to have a career in wildlife conservation/management. is that beign covered in iifm.? and what is the work profile for wwf india?? and also what other companies come to hire in this field(wildlife management/conservation).

What was the cut off for CAT 2007? What is the acad. weightage?

Just to add what Maverickindro said, cutoff for 2009-11 batch was not officially declared, one most important parameter is getting 55%tile in each section. If your overall score is above 84-85%tile, definitely you will get a call(loking at last 3years record), but higher the percentile, greater tthe probablity of conversion as CAT carries 70% weightage in final selection. In my batch(2009-11) most of the students are 90%tile +, a few exceptions with excellent academic record... so nothing to worry..just gear up for CAT

to elaborate what is mentioned in post above the 60%tile in each section is the criteria for shortlisting for GD-PI and what 85% tile in total mentioned about is not actually the final selection criteria .but you have a better chance for final selection if you score above this but its not sure. many people above this have been rejected and many below this have also been selected.

1) IIFM is a central government college and set up by ministry of Environments and Forestry. Most of such institutes take CAT scores for initial calls. No other criteria is used.

2) as already mentioned there is no over all cut off, but sections need to be good on average. A safe bet would be 85%ile, but based on good profile one can make it even at 78-80%ile. Usually cut offs are not made public for initial calls. Mandatory disclosure will include info on final calls.

3) Course fees. Well its not declared yet, it was 3lakh for our batch, and is sue to be increased to 3.5-3.8 lakh depending upon recommendations but for the time being till any info comes, take it as 3 lakh only.

1. I leave that for current IIFM students
2. I called up IIFM and they said sectional cutoff is 60 percentile for each section without any overall cutoff.
3. I leave that again.

we are waiting for the official advertisement to appear in the national daily and then start a new thread as this thread was started the same time. hope it is the pipe line.

Sorry friend.
the admission process is over.
IIFM would not take any of the wait listed students now.
Even if 1 or 2 students may leave the campus now the seats would remain vacant. This is because IIFM strictly follow the rule of 90% attendance. The session was started from 1st july, one could afford to miss just 3 days of classes in the whole semester. so the last admission in the Institute was on 3rd July. also they wont refund fee to anyone who leaves the institute now.
So better luck next time.
Do prepare again and come to this place.
It is really the best place i have seen and its worth to be here.

whats the schedule of the classes????

yes LAN connectivity is there.
normally classes will start from 8.30 and will go up to 3.00pm. duration of 1 class is of 1 hr and after every class u will have a break of 10 min. lunch timing 1.00 pm to 2.00 pm.

another concern here, i got a letter from iifm quite too late and it so requires that i've got to make a second DD of Rs. 60,000, here i am with cash amount of Rs. 60,000. How about paying in cash instead of DD, would iifm accept cash as i seem to have no alternative with limited time left.

i think only DD is accepted.and it is safe to carry DD. it hardly takes 15 mins to get a DD from any Nationalize bank.

Cash would be strictly not accepted...
You should call the institute to ask them if there is some other option.....

dell is any day better than HCL and compaq. the only problem is that the dell laptops are little bulky as compare to other laptops..........u can get a 14.1 inch dell inspiron with 4gb RAM and 320gb and vista...........around 42K........that will be a good buy......dell studio is a good buy but lil expensive........15 inch have a poor battery back up......around 90 minutes........one can purchase the dell laptops by checking the e-value code whcih are published regularly in all the newspapers...............see u all on on 17..........

anytime dell's good..and from u.s u'll get loads of range ...in my opinion u shud go for dell

at this range Dell would be quite good.. since u need a good global service .. which certainly Dell provides better.. Hp is not that good.. I had harrowing time with HP ... me and my friend had to go to the service centre 6 times in 15 days to get the problem rectified.. Dell I know is better.. for starters it has less issues..
