As far as i know their Classroom program is the Best in Kolkata. They have got the faculty from IIMs,XLRIs,etc. The competition is fairly good among students that helps one to keep motivated towards cracking CAT..

Camac Street...Because all the teachers don't come to SaltLake to teach...But all teach in Camac Street...However, if your home is nearer to SaltLake that's not too bad either...I used to study in SaltLake for the same reason...

Erudite is best in Kolkata. It has got the best classroom training along with decent faculties. Their teaching methodology is very conceptual which helped me a lot. I think you should go for erudite.......

Hi Puys,Can you please help me in finding out which institute is good one for cat coaching in Kolkata. I stay in saltlake. I have heard that faculty have movd from IMS kolkata to CL. however there are no CL centre's in saltlake. TIME is offering the coaching at a much lower price for students who have taken test/classes in previous year from them.Please help which is good IMS/TIME/ERUDITE/CL?Please reply soon.

even i'm a ex student from eru... and i'll recount my personal experience... well, first and formost, i met these really great guys there.. and now they are sooo good friends as if i've known them for years... and that alone makes me feel joining eru was worth it. yes, ery does have that kind of bonding factor which u wun find in any other coaching centre.

true.. it gets loads of students, and so every conceivable kind of probs that u can think of exists there.

but of late a lot of change has been brought.. and its not just in infrastructure... i know some of the teachers personally, and that made them all the more accessible to me in case of doubts. even otherwise all the teachers are always available and very helpful.

as others mentioned.. the crowd is the best in cal.. both in terms of intellect and quality

on the converse side... though eru is a gr8 place to prepare... it alone in no way is enough.... one simply must get ims study materials at the very least, and enrol for a mock cat series by any other coaching.
end of the day... as far as quality of coaching goes for other instis.. joining eru makes more sense than the rest.

oh, and yes.. all of us, who r thinking of joining a coaching to prepare for cat... we all aspire ot be managers.. right?? and isnt being manager means being able to tackle probs... and turning situations and events to your advantage?? trust me.. eru gives u ample oppurtunity for that too.. its upto u how much juice u can take out of it for the sum of money u have to dish out... and if u can do it properly... eru is certainly worth it....

by gee,some confusion raging in here!abt erudite and all!man,why think abt so hard nd fast??the truth is out there,no insti 'll gurantee u what comes in the cat next,year.be assured dat whatever is taught i any insti won't come in the pa[er..let alone guess th enext big surprise 4m the cat paper setters point of view...

personally speakin having visitted all the major insti-s in the city,i got the ompression dat erudite needs 2 expand big time,it's current buiding is too small 4 comfort..too many students it seemed...

abty other insti-s.well mate,if u r good enugh 2 crack the cat ims,cl.time all r basically da same in here..it's all abt ur own confidence in urslf..

if u can look beyond the gimmicks u will know that its a wrong decision to join erudite.
after going thro all this i somewhat felt cheated and i dont want others to go thro the same feeling, thats y i m saying all this.
Irreverence is a healthy attitude..hav it and u will see past these holy cows.

Very interesting Debate going on....

I have Just joined Erudite in Kolkata, and have gone through a coahing of 1 month

My initial reactions based on my observations:

> The Classroom teaching is good and personal attention is given to students and teachers are cooperative

> The fees do cover XAT coaching as well

> It still has the best crowd of kolkata in terms of knowledge, competencies, etc

>Competetion for MBA Coaching institutes in kolkata has increased troumendously as IMS, CL , TIme and others have come up well.. and are for sure eating up the market share of Erudite, but As far as i know, erudite is coming up with a lot of innovative activities and partnerships with which would help it place it brand image above others

> As fas as i have heard, the Study Mat and SIMCATS are not that great, we would be also taking stuff from PG and other insitutes.

> THe infrastructure has improves slightly as they have shifted to another centre in theh heart of the City in Camac street

oh my god ... i never saw anything of counselling as such .. by erudite... and i remember .. when i had a cat call.. i went to vidhur.. but he was so busy.. i waited for 2 hrs.. he was nt free for students..
i cudnt meet him... the counselling thing is bull-shit..

and.. no xat classes either

hw cn u guys say so nwadays they r gvn xt classes and that also vit no extra chrge i was there in erudite last year and i know it............and mr kapoor is not the sole tacher in eru who is givin counselling classes they r many more competent teachers .but yes all these r exclusively for eru students and not for outsiders.

Erudite is good as far as class room coaching is concerned. Also there are a no of doubt clearing sessions for further help. But the SIM CATs are really bad


have u been a student of eru if u hv been 1 than im sure that u will nt say anything of this sort .doubt clearing sessions r there very much in eru .dates r put up on the notice board and the students concrnd can go nd meet the teachers of the respc subjects.even if u cannot make it up on the alloted date and time u can personally go and clarify your doubts.

p.s. one advantage of studying in erudite that i forgot to mention.....only for straight males though....one will get plenty of visual nourishment during erudite's classes....thats as positive as i could be abt erudite.

though i am not a student of erudite, i had gone for collecting info on it during the period in which i was to decide which coaching insti to join. as far as i remember it was 19000+ only for CAT. they had specifically mentioned to me that xat is not a part of this fee. they informed me that there would be extra charge for xat as well as gd/pi training depending upon the no. of calls you get.
