Yes, at IIMB, RAT is compulsory for everyone, as IIMB also accepts applications without any scores. Some areas like Public Policy and Finance had subject based written exams as well other than RAT.

I think they accept other standardised test scores such as CAT and GMAT. I don't knw if RAT is compulsory for everyone. You can PM @[190634:swagato1987] or @[538048:Dhaswe]. They are currently at IIMB

A research paper can only add value to your profile. So if you have one, nothing like it. But most people getting into FPM/PhD do not have research papers.

I have not been through the selection process at any of the IIMs or IITs. If you have queries regarding these institutes, send a PM to the students of these institutes. You can find them in the previous year's thread. I think their term has just started which is why I am all alone in this thread. :)

I have been through ISB's selection process and they do give value to research experience. In the first batch 2 out of the 3 students had research papers.

Although i am selected in AIMA-AMU Phd still joining this thread to be among such great people inclined to teaching

Your profile is good enough. For FPM/PhD you will have to take the required test if NET is not acceptable for your domain. Each institute has specific requirements for standardized tests and you will have to fulfill those.

Since you are interested in a sub-area of Operations ie SCM, I would suggest that you go through the profiles of the professors at different institutes and see which professors do research in your area of interest.

If you see the profiles of current FPM students, you will see many who have joined with only a B.Tech. So, I guess it doesn't matter as long as you get into a good school for your FPM. However, my personal opinion is that a little bit of work-ex is necessary.

I also have a Summer Internship from Heinz India LTD. in Operations domain. Apart from these I have done a few trainings and projects in production and operations during my Btech.

I moved into the MBA course instead of directly into a FPM course as I was confused about the coursework and studies in management.

I have an interest in teaching since I taught JEE students 7 years ago. I have also developed an interest in research in the last few years.Now after experiencing the MBA course I am confident that I can pursue the FPM couse from next year onwards.

I have an interest in operations considering my backgrounds and my strengths. I also have the constraint to stay in India due to some family commitments.

I want to know that given my profile and the reasons I have put above am I a worthy candidate for the FPM course in the operations domain. Should I go for FPM right after my MBA or work for a few years first. I already have a job ex and I don't want to wait any longer.

If you have decided to get into academics, you can join a doctoral program right after MBA. Though it does help to get a couple of years workex after MBA.

Your profile is good and you should target the top IIMs. For Operations you can also look at the IITs which have strong operations departments. The advantage of IITs will be that you will get coursework waiver which you won't get in the IIMs and you will have to repeat your first year of MBA again. Disadvantage: stipend is a bit less. I think 18k. Also no tuition fee waiver. Though you can apply for NDF fellowship of AICTE for additional funding (only some IITs and IIMs are eligible).

No. Institute matters more than what your degree reads. However, an MMS from JBIMS would be at par.
Secondly, how important are the graduation marks of B.tech? I plan to study during MBA but not much that can be now done about graduatin marks :(
Many factors are taken into consideration. Graduation marks is just one of them. You can counter that with better marks in MBA and higher CAT score.
Thirdly, Any special preparation to be done for application preparation (domestic and abroad) as i still have around 1-2 yrs to apply. Something which i should do to build up my profile?
For abroad, try to get involved in some research projects, present in some conferences. Also try to focus on the area in which you want to do PhD
Fourthly, last 2-3 years, i am very much into economics, but i don't really have a background in economics except self study. Would this be a hindrance if i want to pursue fellowship or Ph.D in economics related field?
Abroad: If you want to do PhD in economics, the competition will be very intense as you will be competing against people who already have economics degree. You will have to apply to the Finance area in a business school and get a finance PhD.
India: You stand a good chance if you can show genuine interest in the subject.

Study more of eco and fin. If possible, you can also do a MSc in Eco parallely from Idol-MU or IGNOU.
