Attended GD PI at mumbai 9:00 am batch. GD topic: SMS advertising good or bad. They presented it in form of a caselet. It was a total fish market with people engaging 1 to 1. Only 4-5 people out 13 were really able to speak. PI was good. There were 3 people. 2 aged gentlemen, and 1 young industry expert. The panel was really nice and soft spoken. A very cordial panel. They mostly asked abt my work ex (as a s/w engr). why i wish 2 do mba... gave some situation: a company wants to implement ERP. what do u suggest for the network system- distributed or centralized. give reasons. asked me some questions pertaining 2 how a project is kicked off and what all is done in subsequent phases. One of them asked some GK questions like: who is the governor of goa and MH (cudn't reply though), SQ, states one has to travel inorder to go from mumbai 2 trivandrum.. etc. commented that i was having a very good tech qualifications. all in all a good PI but bad GD. keeping fingers crossed. I have 88.5 % in CAT. students of fore what say.. All the best to other guys. BTW can any one tell uptill when the selection procedure will continue. I asked the panel abt the date for final results but they were not aware of that...

mine interview was lined up on 27th.....first slot at 9.30 AM
there were 39 of us divided in2 3 batches
After calculating the % of our marksheets
we were taken 2 the room where GD was supposed 2 take place.it was basically a situational test abt what u gonna do if the plane in which u are travelling gets hijacked and was given a duration of 20 mins.
everyboby had sumthng or the other 2 say but we were stopped within 10 mins! n mind u it was nt even close 2 a small fish market!!
was later asked 2 summerise ...which is where evry1 put up there points.
After which pi started my no. was 7th

they asked me sum serious inconsiquential ques like wether i intend 2 marry or nt in future!!!
last but nt the least they did nt cared to open the folder of marksheets
or my credentials abt my wrk!a real wierd interview abt which u cnt comment much........the only suggestions for guys left are as following:
1)Brush ur acds big time.....they r asking ques abt grad subjects even 2 guys who have 5 YR of wrk ex!
2) Read that days news paper.....at least the frnt page
3)Stay cool......rest evrythng will fall in place!!

had my gd/pi today in delhi,morning batch

for gd we had to discuss the reasons for booming of call centres in india,and suggestions we wud make to the minister of industry to sustain and accelerate the growth for the same...it was a total fish market,the panelist had to interrupt 2-3 times to tell us to calm down...after 15 min we got 1 min each to sum up and then 2 min for conclusion.i managed to enter 2-3 times with some points.

i was the last but one to be interviewed...3 panelists including a lady were there.
had the most general interview i've ever had...they started off with acads..nothing very detailed,just some basics...(didn't get to introduce myself),little gen awareness,sth abt extra currs n hobbies.In the end they asked me which coaching institute i had joined(they asked this frm evryone)

didn't even ask me why mba...or why mba now(i'm engg fresher)...let alone wot specialization i want...found it really weird...

so wot do u think ppl...

im pretty confused wat 2 make out of it. wid a cat percentile of 92%...wat chanc do u ppl think i hv?:neutral:

gud GD , i spoke many times , bt there ws this guy frm iit he stretchd n stretchd his pts like nethin.
Interview : i ws the 8th person 2 b intervwd. evry1 b4 me hd intrviews rangin frm 15 to 30 min.
hd opend d door, ws abt 2 enter wen they told me 2 wait outside.

had my gd/pi today at fore...9.30 batch- group 3...........................anybody from the same grp.............................gd as usual fish market....topic was " coll mgmt has banned banned the use of mobile phones.......u have to make a case on behalf of students that why they shud not b banned".................................the moderators had to intervene and gave evrybody 1 min to put forward their points........................i dont think anybody ...had scored well in the gd ( coz even the guys who spoke were very agressive and speaking for the sake of it....repeating the points)...............

now came the interview.....
3 panelists....same who were the moderators for gd...........................asked me abt the color of shirt i was wearing(pink) .................complimented me on how gud i was looking .................then me and the female panelist got into an argument over the time it takes to commute from faridabad to delhi.....( she was a prof of operations research...so she was delving onto the statistical aspect of everything............)...............and then a case........small one...............then asked me a few ques abt my business..................then asked me if u wud give a bribe and got again into a discussion regarding business ethics............................i staunchly said that i do not compromise with my ethics and do not pay bribes............and a few more ques.............................................. .....................................then it was all over.............................................. ..........lets wait for the results......................


P.S- ritesh dude.....ur coll is gud......crowd is also fine.............but the managment does not seem to trust the students ...................it wud have been gr8 if the management had given the organising part to the students ...i guess they wud have handled it much better than the peons and clerks on work

GD: a caselet about use of mobile phones banned in the campus and we had to take the case to the management authorities
ok type GD , i spoke about 3 times ,brought some new points in , there was a sardar alongside me and all he did was steal my points , i mean picked them up ditto , I said that we must not ban use but rather misuse and he says the same thing and so on.. but neways ok stuff

Interview : I heard that these guys take stress interviews , so i was worried, was third guy in the group

panel had 3 ppl , 1 lady too

Chill mate........dont get nervous........be positive n keep ur nerves!its not necessary that they r out there 2 grill u........dont give negative inputs 2 ur mind from right now........trust me.....u will do gr8!

Heloo there to one n all..
for all those who still havents had their interviews.. i'll narrate my experiences.. i wonder if that'll make things any better , but nevertheless..
to start with.. there were abt 40 ppl scheduled at the same time slot as mine.. we were divided into 3 groups of 13, 13, 14.
the panelists for the 3 groups were different..
they started with the caselet kinda GD..
b4 the GD began, they made it clear that they had called 850 ppl for the GD/PI, n thus performinng well in the GD competing against 12 others did not translate into a good chance of selection st. away, coz u r hadly aware of wat happens with the 837 others...
it was a 25 minute thing.. 3 mins to think abt the case, 17 to discuss n at of these end of 20 mins they ask ppl who havent spoken in the GD to contribute.. or ask sm ppl some further questions.. for eg.. my caselet read " For every 1000 male children born in India, only 943 female children r born. The govt. has appointed a advisory committee to check the problem. What sugeestions woud u like to make , for the upliftment of women, as a member of an NGO."
so after the 20 mins.. they asked 1 person to summarise, 1 ," who is actualy responsible for the skewed sex ratio( parents/ society/ govt)".. n a couple o other such questions.

thatw as abt it for the GD.
In the PI.. it lasted abt 10 mins..
as for my panel.. a certain lady by the name of Dr. Sanghamitra,an OB teacher, One gentleman called Mr. Vinay Dutta,a finance teacher at FORE n some corporate..

first thing i was aksed was if my name matched my temprament, n wat instances i cud quote to prove the same.. did that.
next ques was " y MBA"..
i am working, so they asked me to calc the opportunity cost of doing an MBA,, n leaving my job.. in relation to the same.. asked the last year's avg salary at FORE..i had misquoted it.. it was actually 4.5 , for ur reference ...
then.. somethings related to acads.. make a marketing plan for a financial svcs organisation, differences b/w a telecom
svc provider n banking svc provider,,, (my academic background required me to know the same..so it was ok).. then some GK questions.. which i had no clue abt.. toooo bad on GK.. questions were.. wat is the Macmohan lline.. this i knew.. some other line.. that i had never herd of.. where is the Black sea :).. I know it sounds scary,, n that's y i mentioned at the beginning of my post that i dont really know how helpful my exxperiences will be, but nevertheless...N yes, I DO NOT HAVE A GEOGRAPHY BACKGROUND.
then a question.. is delhi a state or a UT.. n lady tried convinding me that since it has a CM n legislature.. it is a state...
n the least question was.. " how many times does the digit 9 appear b/w 1-100. i answered this incorrectly too :(.
that was it.. on the whole .. i am not really hopefull. cant really comment actually.. but anyways.. ALL the very best to all the others who r yet to take their interviews...

hey guys..remember one thing..Its not tough to clear fore by any chance..all u'v gotta do is to b prepared not to freak out durin GD n PI..
GD topics as i've come to know frm people i know are way below the average..

Guys one thing I felt about FORE interviews that they were stress interviews. Atleast that was the case with me and two of my friends. Maybe I am wrong or maybe FORE panel had something against people from my city !!
@peeps at FORE pls dont mind that , I was kiddin bout the city thing !!

lease people who have finished their gdpi rounds pour in ur experiences it will be good for us.

The GD , according to them , was a case study. But "the case" was a three line topic given to each individual on a paper.Actually it wasnt a conventional case study that we get. A mix of contemporary plus caselet.

was ur gd a case study or a discussion. Please tell. Did they ask which field do u want to do an MBA in???

PS : DO NOT BE LATE EVEN BY A MINUTE COS THEY WERE VERY STRICT WITH THAT , ATLEAST AT DELHI. Be there atleast 15 minutes before , that way u can also make friends with ur compees !!

Here is the story.........
reprted at 9 am and the process started at 9 30 sharp. Marksheets were verified (to c whther guys had given the correct % in X XII etc etc. I was caught in XII !! Increased my % by 1 percent but the chap corrected it )
A total of three batches were there , 13 chaps 13 chaps and 12 chaps. the process ws parallel for three batches. I was the 12 man in the third group !!
Anyways for the gd there were three people in the panel , two guys n a lady. we were given a case or a topic(whatever) . Cyber crime , security of employees , erosion of culture in context with BPOs was the topic. Healthy discussion (i started !!) , after 12 minutes we were told to stop and asked to summarize individually as well.When my turn came (remember 12th man) he said say somthn which hasnt been said. Luckily we missed the culture part in the discussion as well as in the summarization by the eleven , so i went for the culture part and summarized.
The general duration for the 'view was 10 minutes. Mostly acads for freshers n about work for experieence people.Then there were some exceptions too like me. Nothin on acads , project , hobbies. here are the qns I was asked
1. Indo US relations.
2. Indo Iran relations
3. Nuclear power in muslim nations , is it good or bad
4. tell me bout urself
5. do u think with ur heart or head
6. how energetic are u (they themselves said that i was pretty energetic and wanted to confirm)
7. In between i became a bit loud so he asked whether I know a politician !! then I became a bit quieter.
8. i am an NDA dropout and had told them in my "tell me bout urself section" , so they asked some qns regarding NDA
9. one situational qns which I flunked !!
Thats it , and before askin the last qns , they told me that this is the last qns.

hey these ppl hav gone mad had my gd/pi 2day
said y did u speak so much in gd i was thinkin there was no 1 who was disscussin so had 2 speak
q1: stand for entire interview i hope ull b comfy
grilled on maths as my sub is maths hons
overall they want u 2 break down ie it they contradict each n every pt u say n wen try n convince they say ur deviating
puys overall bad but fingers crossed
