Don't worry, these seats will eventually be filled. IIML has given calls to many people who are yet to withdraw/confirm (example: Mathew George and Ayush who decided to join IIML on saturday). Once the people who have paid the initial fee withdraw, IIML will give more calls. As of now, they don't think it will be required, because there are many like Mathew and Ayush who are joining IIML. But even in this case, further W/L movement in FMS will be caused as some of the people who are going to IIML will withdraw from FMS.

I deleted the previous post since I felt that lot many will not agree to my opinion about further WL movement. I spoke to my friends in BC and L, there are still 50 more seats that is vacant in these institutes ( L alone has 30) so overlaps are quite possible and hence a movement of 10 in GEN category is quite possible. Also other categories will maintain the movement wrt GEN category, so its very possible that you will convert but you gotta wait, I am WL 3 in OBC now ( one withdrew ( there could be many others) and WL 1 is not joining) so effective WL 1. I do hope I make the cut today. I maintained from the beginning that WL movement will be higher than last few years ; but that argument did not have many takers. I think I could be right and I really hope so for all our good. goodluck I presume WL movement today will have similar movement as the last Waiting list.

Ok so the other guys name is Aayush and he is also general category. Both of them will call FMS office tomorrow and say that they want to withdraw admission. They will also write emails to the admin. But we can not be sure if their withdrawals will reflect in the next list or in a later list

#Regarding temporary accommodation, as per seniors, will be provided to those who are probables to make it to the final list(a buffer may be).



#As the Hostel lists will be out by Mid July/End July, it's better to arrange for temporary accommodation(hotels/guest houses/friend's place), and also in the mean time if one is not sure of getting a hostel, keep hunting for PGs and Flats.



#The NC/SC allocation will be made, most probably on the 1st day itself, if at all there will be any division...



#There may be some withdrawals, but the number, should be less than that in the 7th WL movement.

I want to know what was the cut-off and criteria for selection at FMS , i am seriously interested in joining this prestigious institute and is currently preparing for CAT-2012.

Please put some light who have cracked it this year 2011-2012

CAT cut off for GDPI : 98.73 (general)
No past acads, diversity etc. Not even sectionals. Anyone who had OA 98.73 was called.

Final selection : 70% CAT scaled score + 10% each to GD, PI and extempore.
Don't let that 70% put you off. Everybody had a level playing field for the second round too.

In PH1 category, this is what happened :

My CAT score : 198 (82.1%)
Scaled weight : 198/450*70 = 30.8
GD+PI+Ext : 1+1+2 = 4
Total = 34.8

Another CAT score : 162 (63%) the lowest in our category
Scaled weight : 162/450*70 = 25.2 a difference of 36 reduces to 5 :)
GD+PI+Ext : 3+8+7 = 18
Total = 43.2 selected despite lowest CAT score

So, the person who was 20%ile behind me got through, and I didn't.


From beginning to end, everyone was given an equal chance to wash all past sins and get rid of their baggage. The reason why FMS will always command high respect in the eyes of aspirants. Also why FMS will always remain in the top 6 club.
