Last year's cut-off was not only based on percentile but also on relevant work-experience. There is no basic cut-off for determining eligibility. Academic records, extra-curricular activities and work experience were also deciding factors. JMET was there last year to determine the eligibility of most of the candidates last year. This year it is only CAT. Last year's cut-off will in no way give you or anyone else any idea about what is going to happen this year. Also there is vacation going on after which the Department will be coming out with all relevant guidelines and eligibility criteria for the admission process. We would ask you to wait for a few more days and also not to go by any speculation or externally sourced data.Thanks.

Pls understand the issues regarding the admission processes. Being a department under the umbrella of IIT there are many things that the authorities have to take into consideration. Last year JMET was there to decide the eligibility of many students. This year only CAT is there. Last year most of the students came through JMET. Last year work experience played a major role on deciding upon cut-offs. This year it might be the same. Just bear for a few more days. The Department will be coming out with the required guidelines. Also it is vacation and most of the students and faculties are not present in the campus. Also Richa just mentioned that if you are having 2nd division you are not eligible. Your CGPA of 6.61 is considered 66.1%. But in many universities it is considered 58.6%. It all depends on the scheme adopted by respective universities. Sorry for any kind of mis-communication. I would like to request you and any other prospective candidates to wait for a few more days. We will be posting the guidelines and eligibilities in due course.

This severely minimises the utility of this thread if you are not willing to provide any or rather correct information. U told I was ineligible for DoMS as I donot have first class, but when I consulted the admissions office of DoMS, they said I was eligible as 6.61 on a scale of 10 comes under the 'OR equivalent' criteria. So I would request you not to provide wrong information if you are not aware of the facts. Moreover if you can't tell us what was the cutoff last year, then what else is there which u can tell us? Fees and Packages are already there on the website.:sneaky:
And now pls don't go and ask them why they are allowing a 6.6 CGPA with 2nd division.

No, it is not mandatory for you to stay in a hostel. Day scholars have a fee structure different from hostelites. You can find the fee details on DoMS website.

For fees, you can visit the link MBA Fee Structure . Cut-offs are dependent upon the profiles of the candidates applying for admission in DoMS, IIT-M. Also, since only CAT scores would be considered this year, cut-offs may be a little different from previous years. The release date for admission forms would be out soon. An update on Placements for the batch of 2012: More than 45% of the Class of 2012 was placed by Day 0 of the placement season. Profiles that were on offer include Equity Research, Investment Banking,Business Consulting, Systems Consulting, Finance Consulting, Analytics (IT,Operations, Supply Chain & Marketing), Banking Operations among others.

Our University considers only the final year's marks and tht is wot is mentioned in the degree. I have 65% in my final year i.e. first class, even my degree and mark sheet says so. But my aggregate of all da years combined is 58%. Many colleges like NITIE accept only degree marks...is it so for IIT M as well..?? Am i eligible for IIT Madras or any other IIT...??

I can't disclose that right now. The details would be officially released in a few days. This thread as well as the DoMS website would be updated with the latest information. The number of seats is usually between 70-80. This number should not change drastically.

A candidate having a Masters degree in any discipline (with first class) is eligible to apply. He can have Bachelors in any discipline, not necessarily BE/ B.Tech. BE/ B.Tech is required only for those candidates who have Bachelors degree only.
