I could attempt only 6 questions out of 30 in QA , and got only only 3 correst .I am getting scared about my quant attempts . I have learnt the basics and I have been average or above average (dont know) in mathematics . But here I am doing very badly .

This is my first attempt and started preparing 2 months back only . first time CAT taker. I guess I havent solved enough number of problems for practice.

Has anyone experienced such disaster ?

But I think since OR was used answer should have been 8 since one could ensure that "at least 5 guavas or at least 7 mangoes or at least 8 pears are picked?".

18 is the answer if AND is used instead of OR!!!

Any of these should suffice.
Pick 4 guavas 6 mangoes 7 pears. Now if you pick any other fruit the basket it will lead to the OR condition.
Hence 4+6+7+1=18

put y=5 ,x=3,4....none lies in range, exceeds second part i.e 25/43
put y=6, x=4,5....none lies in range, exceeds second part i.e 25/43
put y=7, x=4 satisfies.... just satisfies... hence 7 is the answer

Yes buddy even I experienced the same thing last year. In my first three mocks I could manage only single-digit scores in Quants. If you are clear with the basics, practice as much as you can. Solve last 10 years CAT papers to get a feel of the type of questions. With each mock analyse which are your weak areas and work on them

had a good start in Proc Mock-1 but did miserably this time specially was shocked to see my performance in VA/LR.LR section was too tough could not understand that juice question in DI i just left that. Parajumbles had close options overall a tough paper need to work hard now
