This mail will not only answer your questions about the identity of people behind www.*********************.org but will also let you know in greater detail about what we have done so far and what is on cards, last but not the least, THAT WE ARE GOING AHEAD WITH A MOTION IN PUBLIC INTEREST AGAINST CAT 2009 IN THE SUPREME COURT WITH ONE OF THE BIGGEST LAW FIRMS IN INDIA. We just got a call from the firm and couldn't wait to share the news, (and neither should we wait, as it is already late)

All these have been possible because of those who registered at www.*********************.org With those registrations and the research we had been doing for this long to make a case, we at least got the courage to take the first step of requesting "ABC" (name will be disclosed as soon as we get a date in the court, please bear with us for good) to take up our case and as should happen for innocence, we are going to the Supreme Court with them very very soon. There are somethings you all should know:
1. The concerned firm is in the top 10 list of India Law Firms continuously for past 10 years. I am attaching a list where you can see the name. One of our team mates has a relative working as a counsel in the firm. A BIG thanks to him and his relative for getting them.
2. We have an option of meeting tomorrow/day after tomorrow to discuss fully about the case before we go to court.
3. They will also be hiring an external senior counsel to increase the chances of a retest to maximum. (Just so that you know, a senior counsel is of the standards of Ram Jeth Malani, Kapil Sibbal. In tomorrow's meeting, we'd know who we are taking)
3. As it has become very late, to get a fast trial, we need a group of around 150 people from different states so that our petition can be filed under urgency and public interest, else we'll be directed to the High Court and things will become very slow there.
4. We need as many resources as possible so that the firm can make a strong case.
5. We have showed them support we have now, but more support will help us do many peripheral things which would help spread the news about injustice and its after effects.

Somethings you can help with:
1. Please make a list of 150 people or more who will want to be a part of the petition. All should be distributed across various states in India so as to approach the Supreme Court for justice.
2. All those who are going to put their names as petitioners, please send us all the conversations you've had with IIMs. That can include:

2. Please make a draft of all your problems with CAT 2009 right from registrations, actual test, re-test and results.

By the way, I have just got an audio recording of a case where the candidate's result wasn't submitted and had "pending" status till the end. Still his name wasn't in the Re-test list. Now after the results, his VA scores are lower than what he expected.

more point :

THERE WAS NEVER ANYTHING MENTIONED REGARDING THE SECTIONAL CUT OFF's thing . Neither the paper had any instructions regarding the sections being treated as separate . Moreover, Paper was not having sections marked separately; there was distinction between the 3 sections. It was just 60 questions in one shot. Although I do understand that we could make out that the questions could be judged to be of which section. bUT still they shld have mentiond it somewhere .....

I really think that this can be another strong point in the legal battle. Someone should inclue this in the RTI.

Good work with the questions! You might want to make the grammar less ambiguous though. I'm online using my phone so it's not possible for me. For more questions, please refer my post a few pages back.

I have filed 6 RTIs today of which 2 are most relevant for our case! The questions are the same as in the aforementioned post. i have asked for question papers as well.

It just occured to me that we can ask for minutes of meetings/other records, pre and post CAT (including when shortlisting Prometric, during CAT tech glitches, when deciding on rescheduling and recent meetings on scrapping CBT ). The next person filing an RTI can include these in it. Please ask for certified photocopies of the records.

you can definitely not say that there were concentration of high achievers one day... the sample size is huge enough and it is random separation of candidates...

we really dunno what they did.. how they equated..
they must have seen say in slot 1 , 50 ppl would have got 99 percentile but in slot 2 say only 10 only got 99 percentile
they assume slot 1 was easy than slot 2..

instead of taking highest mark, cos in slot 2 only 10 ppl get 99 percentile, which seems to be tougher one , so they can take the 90th percentile score in the slot 2 - ( this gives a rough top score taking into frequency of top scorers so say the 90th percentile scoring can be 95 for slot 2 but for slot 1 can be 99..) and normalise against each candidates score...

that is the only way..
rather than comparing across slots.. compare within slot.

Still sample size isnt enough, Had it been enough then we would have a fair graph having the registration numbers also. Which we have already seen is biased towards initial registration having more calls and later having fewer. We argued they were the most serious ones, the serious ones also chose later slots, discriminating the overall purpose of having equal set of abilities in each slot. Moreover many dummy candidates appeared in the initial days. Like coaching institute teachers, adding further bias by attempting just particular sections.

Mr Soumitra Roy may say he is pleased with the performance of Prometric but fact is that IIMs themselves have publicly declared that they are in the process of scrapping PROMETRIC's contract!!!!
(as per HT report 3-4 days back)

just went through article... this height of shameless... one can easily see the variation in their word and act.. they scaled me to 150 and i had got 70 in quant. so as per them i got less than 30 out of 60. after attempting 17 question, of which sure shot 14 or 15 should be accurate. so i should in my claim get more than 40 in worst case. which should be true as i always have accuracy in quant exam. like in snap(35),IRMA(99%),XAT(98% in quant).and its bad. that in cat i got so less. so its really stupid. on CAT part. prometric is just trying to fool india and don understand the fact and accept it. prometric made IIM,CAT and whole india fool.

gave 29 dec morning slot xams....reached ...ws told server is busy wll take sum time....1hr passed..no information...den 2 hrs pssd no information...then dey said perhaps d test would get cnclld....bt may not even hppn...we all got confused.....no idea whether wll b able to give our test..suddenly they said yes ur test is going to begin within few min........hw disgusting is cat???? ashamed??? dey must bb????.......bt then after all v had 2 suffer....for them it ws jus mere server failure...but for me it was my 1 year sheer waste......

Absolutely...the questions must be framed in such a way as to get as much information as possible...they must not be allowed to run round the bush by giving all sorts of ambiguous answers (which is what they have been doing all this time)...so, we need to brainstorm...

Good work with the questions! You might want to make the grammar less ambiguous though. I'm online using my phone so it's not possible for me. For more questions, please refer my post a few pages back.

I have filed 6 RTIs today of which 2 are most relevant for our case! The questions are the same as in the aforementioned post. i have asked for question papers as well.

It just occured to me that we can ask for minutes of meetings/other records, pre and post CAT (including when shortlisting Prometric, during CAT tech glitches, when deciding on rescheduling and recent meetings on scrapping CBT ). The next person filing an RTI can include these in it. Please ask for certified photocopies of the records.

we cannot ask 17 like that.. all we can ask is - provide us details of slot wise break up and IIM calls.. we cannot make assumptions

marking for every question was same- clearly given by prometric - +3 for every right and -1 for Every wrong.. only the second step in converting raw scores to equated scores have problems.. that point is already covered.. lets not question them like this..we can only ask for explanations.. these questions only in writ...

Its a students right to know how you will mark so that we can take a call on how to attempt across sections and distribute our time across sections

Dude.. if what u r saying is the case, then they can easily come up saying that we gave calls to top 500-1000 students from each slot..
The students competed with students of their slot only and NOT 2.4 lakh..
so, a student with 95%ile score from a particular day gets a call because the highest that day may be 96%ile.. whereas a student with 98%ile other day doesnt get a call..

The case rests...
What normalization do we talk abt after that.. ???

no a student wont get 95 percentile..
all i am trying to say is
say in slot one where 50 ppl write the exam, and 20 ppl get 99/100 marks percentage (raw score)..
and in slot 2 with 50 ppl, only 10 ppl get 99 percentage
this suggests , only suggests that test 2 is tougher than test 1.. again this is a generalised assumption..
and again as a candidate preparing for exam we r expected to know everything..

so instead of equating across slots...

when i calculate a percentile within slot - for slot 1 since 20 ppl have got 99 percentage - the 90thpercentile score will be 99..(just assume)
so a candidates score/99 = his percentile

for slot 2 since only 10 ppl have got 99 percentage and say there is a large gap after that... the 90th percentile score will be 96 ( say,)...
so a candidates score/96 = his percentile...

this adjusts for difficulty across slots as well u r judging ppl within slots...
and u r judging them fair... in slot 2 except of the high achiever no one scored 99 percentage. so u took 90th percentile marking taking into account other ppls marks and frequency etc..

this is what i think..
anyways dunno what IIMs had in mind when they wanted to compare ppl from different slots..

THERE WAS NEVER ANYTHING MENTIONED REGARDING THE SECTIONAL CUT OFF's thing . Neither the paper had any instructions regarding the sections being treated as separate . Moreover, Paper was not having sections marked separately; there was distinction between the 3 sections. It was just 60 questions in one shot. Although I do understand that we could make out that the questions could be judged to be of which section. bUT still they shld have mentiond it somewhere .....

you can definitely not say that there were concentration of high achievers one day... the sample size is huge enough and it is random separation of candidates...

we really dunno what they did.. how they equated..
they must have seen say in slot 1 , 50 ppl would have got 99 percentile but in slot 2 say only 10 only got 99 percentile

I am not trying to suggest that there were no good students in certain slots....there were lots....but I m saying that looking at things like the pagalguy poll conducted on 'which day are you giving cat' (ans assuming most people on pagalguy are serious about prep for cat) , and the remarks of CL people on people preferring 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th dec, especially 5th and 6th if it was possible, there was a marked concentration of serious students in the later slots....

We can only make the huge sample random distribution assumption when the number of days were at least a month a two (like GRE/GMAT and even BITSAT)

I'm just purporting that the point is to test a students own aptitude and not judge it by that of the people who are giving the test with him
