This is a big misconception that adding some extra curricular certificats will make our resume stick out from selection point of view. Almost everyone coming for GDPI these days in top B-Schools have similar extra currics on their resume like President of some xyz committee, chairman of xyz fest, player/captain in xyz team of college etc. Till sometime back having worked in NGO added something different to resume but now , everyone has started mentioning it in one form or the other , thus making it common as well.

These things are no more a differentiator these days in top colleges. Having them on a CV is more of a necessity than as USP of your resume. Having said this, what matters is how you justify in your answers the work done/responsibility undertaken in above-mentioned points. For ex: If in NGO, you should be able to tackle questions on its activities atleast in your area and must be aware about ground realities that challenge one while working for underpriviliged/poor/needy etc.

What is going to be your USP from selection point of view is clarity of thoughts and how you put forth your points. These include but are not limited to stuff like Why MBA, Your career goals, what you bring to the table, how you wish to leverage your past exp/grad background during/post MBA, awareness of your weaknesses and drive to overcome them, your strengths and passion to leverage them etc.

@[572523:Sleepless]- you get enough time to submit your documents. But please don't quit without getting a release letter. You might not have issues in MBA but you'll surely have issues later in your career.
To be honest, you should focus on preparing for CAT. Thinking about these things is just a waste of time at this stage.

MICA: Is specialised courses related to Communication field like Journalism etc.

Q1.How relevant it would be to apply in MICA(no special intereset in Journalism, it is kind of Ok)

Q2.At what time appox MICA release it's form in retail and are they still following MICAT?

BITSAT:Engineering Institute which having Physics,Maths in the Entrance Exam?

Q3.Is BITSAT In Top30 institute in india, how good it will be to MBA from BITSAT

Q4.At what time appox BITSAT release it's form in retail and through which Test they select guys for GD-PI?

N if u have had scored 95%ile in ur first attempt, I guess u should have started CAT 2012 prep long back. I m pretty confident, u would do well. It's not late even now - still 4 months in hand.
Will suggest u to start afresh, dont think of time constraints n all. Prepare as if CAT 2012 is ur last attempt. Who knows, may b things would turn out in ur way ! :)

@[521882:Preeti_L]Byjus classes will improve your thinking and way of approach to the problems..You don't have to prepare tons and tons of questions from materials which other institutes are giving..In each byju's class they provide a sheet of 20 to 30 questions. If you solve them and understand the basics,that would be enough for Cat..

As far as RC is concerned, TIME has very long RC passage. help me how to come out of this especially i am not sure of word meaning senstence questions which say to identify the wrong usage of word in sentence. Depends on wat ur priority is. If u are absolutely sure of cracking the CAT and moving into a gud b-skul dis year then deny the transfer proposal. However, if dat doesn't happen then there can be problems afterwards for your profile(or may be with in the organization itself)if the time becomes too large. On paper u might be having a gud amnt of work-exprnc under ur belt but if in the gdpi the panel decides to grill u on wat u did in cognizant.... it myt just becum a tough job.. well u can always cook up things... but there is always a probabilty that u wont be able to present in as wanted.. or they find out some misconnections... so take ur decision wisely.

I am in a huge dilemma..pls help.
Presently i am working at Cognizant Kolkata and is on bench (No projects) since last 2 months.Now my comp is saying that their is a project in Bangalore in another domain, and you can shift their if you want project. I have the opportunity either to accept or deny it.
But now i am thinking that if i shift to B'lore then my preparation will be hampered (Going their...shifting..etc etc takes time), but i will be working in a project.
Now my question is whether to sit on bench in kolkata and prepare for mba or shift to b'lore.
Pls give your suggestion....and how much does sitting on bench (No work) hamper the selection into b-schools?

@[590476:rahulv24] As you have rightly thought, join a coaching institute, take up the mocks and analyze them properly. If you are passionate enough you can also think of joining 2 mock test series!! But then just taking these tests alone doesn't make any difference. You'll need to analyze them and delve deep into them, and probably think of trying the test one week later after proper analysis.

As I earlier said I'm working in a small company and aspire to do an mba from a good school.
I'm in Delhi and haven't started on with real preparation. I hv an acc academic record
92% Icse 10th
78% cbse 12th
83% graduation
I believe i hv a decent command over english & maths. However from the CAT pt of view I think I have a long way to go.
Due to my job I don't get a lot of time to prepare, so I was thinking about getting into a coaching institute so as to get a direction for my preparation as well as to regularise my prep time. Please suggest what would be the best way to prepare.

For, majority of the people keep blabbering about whether they have a chance or not. Reach the GD/PI stages and then you should ask such questions. Just prepare well. God bless.
