Just prepare for CAT, XAT ,IIFT, NMAT etc for now leave the rest of the things for later. Because the criteria for IIMs and other institutes keep on changing so hard to predict the final criteria. But 1 thing is for sure that they will be looking ur CAT percentile so start gearing for CAT 12 ATB :grin::grin::grin:

For DI all I can suggest is Time Material and even better mocks and previous year questions.

And CAT is not about tricky questions its about concepts, so go through basics first if you have not.

How many of the MBA colleges would not consider my applications due to my Btech percentage even if I am able to score well in CAT.

Frankly speaking you can expect calls from IIMs too (with 1 or 2 exceptions like IIM shillong), provided you do well in CAT. I know people who have got not more than an average or below average acads profile but still made it to IIMs. Its all about how well you fare in your CAT and GD/PI that decides where you end up doing ur MBA. So stop worrying about your past scores and give your best shot at CAT. There's nothing really much you can do about ur past scores(right ?). I'm sure you'll make it to the top 20/30 colleges even if IIMs dont call you.

Man, u dnt need a counsellor, seriously. U can consel urself bcoz no body knows u better than urself.
As u r presently moving from 3rd to 4th yr so the time is crucial. Focus on placements, get a good job and thn prepare for CAT.
If u r not sure of what u wantthn do job for a year and all ur ideas will get clear as to what u exactly want, what r ur strengths and weaknesses in the real world etc etc. Accordingly u can take a decision as to whether u ll be going for MBA, M-Tech or MS.

you have good chances to make it to a top 20 b-schools just be consistent with your scores and try to improve them

fellow puys, plz anwer this query of mine-----in each and every interview of anyone who has aced cat over the years, they have said that ideally, u should allot 5months for cat prep for optimum results...if you prepare for way too long (12-18 months),you tend to get bored doing the same things over and over again & you PEAK much before the actual exam.... is this true??? [ i may have faced a smilar situation last year when i was really bored towards february end & took a break of a month OR was it a one-off case] is there anyone who has/is facing the same problem??? plz reply!!!

It totally depends on you....i m also preparing since a year now....but i still dont feel bored.....its important u keep that goal in ur mind......and also if u have > 12 months to prepare then u can go slowly.....u dont need to go hard...this will reduce pressure...and allow sufficient time for revision too.

18 months is too high a period to prepare for CAT I would say...5-9 months is fine anytime after january

Weak: DI, QA (number systems and arithmatic. Good in topics which were covered in 11th 12th)

MICA is something I will give precedence right after A, B and C, IF i ever get that lucky!

Anyone from jaipur: if you can give a cue of the better coaching institute in the city, it will be really helpful. I really don't know which one is good. So far, planning to join T.I.M.E. Mainly need help in QA and DI.

No one can gurantee you that you'll get call from IIMs or Not. It totally depend on your CAT 2012 score along with other factors like overall acad score, work-ex, extra curricular activities etc. You may get calls from few IIMs depending on your CAT score & since your a NC-OBC candidate so @ 85%

I know its a tad early to ask this sort of a question, but thought it might well be worth it.

I am an NC-OBC candidate and my acads are as follows:
10th - 55.5% (U.P.State Board)
12th - 67.2% (U.P.State Board)
Grad. - CGPA 6.0 out of 10 (NIFT)
Work Ex - Currently 35 monthes, would be 4 years at the time of joining next years.

Do I stand any realistic chance of converting to the IIMs?
Please if anyone can help because I might not consider appearing for the CAT then.

You definitely got a good score in your academics & if you manage to score anything 99.65+% in CAT 2012 with all sectional cut-offs, you have a good chance of getting calls from IIM A,C,L,I,K,S & New IIMs too. Can't say much about IIM-B as got no idea on their selection process. All the Best

I am from ISM Dhanbad...They have this absurd rule of awarding first class above 7 cgpa.

It hppnd in our clg(NIT S) too we had no formula for cpi conversion so took a written from dean(ACAD) stating that 6cpi means 60 % and hence the rest was corresponding. So would advice you to go back to clg nd take a written claiming that 6 cgpa means 60 %

Consider Verbal strong, yet fail at times in it. Logical and DI are stronger compared to others. With Quant having a high accuracy ratio.

I am a MBBS doctor. I had appeared for CAT 2011 but got only 62.93 percentile. Now i am planning to appear for CAT 2012. I have joined TIME and CL mock CAT series.
Last year i was a fresher. But recently i have joined TCS for work experience. But i am doubt full about what to do in future because even on 31st august 2012 i will only complete 3 months of work experience, which i dont think will be counted in any IIMs. Also due to 9 hours of work i am not able to study on week days at all, which is irritating me.
So could anyone just help me out in deciding whether i should keep on working or should quit my job and prepare only for CAT?

P.S. I am SC cat guy. Have 80% in 10th, 83% in 12th and 60% in MBBS.

I am a MBBS doctor. I had appeared for CAT 2011 but got only 62.93 percentile. Now i am planning to appear for CAT 2012. I have joined TIME and CL mock CAT series.
Last year i was a fresher. But recently i have joined TCS for work experience. But i am doubt full about what to do in future because even on 31st august 2012 i will only complete 3 months of work experience, which i dont think will be counted in any IIMs. Also due to 9 hours of work i am not able to study on week days at all, which is irritating me.
So could anyone just help me out in deciding whether i should keep on working or should quit my job and prepare only for CAT?

P.S. I am SC cat guy. Have 80% in 10th, 83% in 12th and 60% in MBBS.

See as you are a doctor,I think you can get a job easily With a 9 hour schedule,it will be very tough for you to shell out time for preparations.Had it been my case,I would have left the job and prepared instead.But see your job availability.God forbid if you get the score you are looking for,you should always have a back up in mind.Rest is all upto you

I think he mst b frm some deemed uni. They have their own rules..

ok bt dnt u thnk that 60% is an standard for 1st cls

I have got one silly doubt . CAT 2011 takers , will there be plenty of sheets for rough work? I tend to write numbers big(cant process if i write it very small ), so i end up taking more rough sheets for quant. But when I went to cl center to take the proc mock cat , they only gave 3 sheets which was no where near enough.

At my centre I was provided with only 4 sheets , 1 pencil and 1 eraser. So you have to practice writing smaller
