Any idea when is the AIMCAT Series Test starting??.. Gave CAT2011 and scored 98.76.. din't get any call... Considering my avg. acad 10th/12th/B.tech are 76.7/71/76.7(CBSE).. is it worth giving one more shot??.. I have around 1yr of exper. .. want to do my MBA from IIM's/XLRI..
what should i do??... help me puys.. thanx in advance...!!

:) Well dude, CAT aspirant is never expected to ask such question,
It's not time that matters in CAT preparation but concentration,
No matter whether you give 4 hours a day or 4 hours a week, But your concentration should be good enough to grasp the things you study.
And QA,LR and DI don't take too much time to get prepared, But it's VA.
Read regular If possible, at least 40-45 pages per day And I would suggest you to read international authors' books.
I know many of my friends who have managed to get above 99.60 with mere preparation of 3-4 month , but they used to read regularly, they allocated only 4 hours a week for other subjects..

puys what do you think is the ideal time by which any sincere CAT aspirant should have completed his course??
as we're suffering from exam fever in our college i won't be able to give ample amt. of time to my CAT prep for atleast another month. .

1) Best coaching institutes in mumbai and their relative strnghts and weaknesses in terms of faculty, study material and mocks.
2) I have also come across a couple of smaller institutes like BYJU, 2IIM etc. and have heard that some of them are good because of the focussed attention due to a smaller class. Can u please elaborate if this is the case and mention a few good ones in mumbai.
3) How should i go about the preparation i.e. when to start with exams, till when to finish the study material, which institutes have good test series, given that i am going to start with my preparation from May.

would really appreciate a response as i need to make a decision fast..thx!

Well regarding mumbai i have no idea, but test series of time is good. Join time or any other (ims/cl). Apart from study material of coaching institutes u should also use following buks
quant: nishit sinha
di/lr:nishit sinha/arun sharma
eng: arun sharma
newspaper(hindu or economic times)
vocab:norman lewis
grammer: wren n martin or raymond murphy
online practice from various sites
finish your course by july(3 mnths).
Do atleast 2 passage daily
in quant start with level one(nishit sinha) if ur nt gud at quant otherwise do level 2 nd 3 leave level 4.
LR: practice regularly(twice a week)
DI: dnt do it right nw,complete quant first

start reading online articles...enroll to the test series by TIME/IMS..(starting from MAY i guess)....if u read novels daily..well and good...if not..start reading newspapers business magazines..or any other of your interest...this was if you r weak in VA...if u're weak in quant section..just take your 10th/12th maths textbooks to start with..and cover all the syllabus mentioned in CAT...

For odd of context type and para jumbles, practise from TIME or CL materials and online tests. Even if u get the answer correct, yet go thru the answer explanations, so tht u learn how to identify connectors in a sentence.Practice reading, in exams like TISS U need to have a good reading speed. Also IIFT, so try to improve on ur concentration and speed and regression. Well if u own a smartphpne with decent screensize, things get a lot easier. get any internet plan, get apps like NEWS and KOBO or app on verbal test. Practise on the go.

Well,Better you dont ask about IIMB and IIMA, as we have seen this year, they had most weird and concealed criteria, but slog hard for CAT and try to get above 99.54..
Aadmi ki kismat and Aurat ki niyat kab badle koi bharosa nahi.. :nono::sneaky:
But Atleast C will call you with these score.

SIBM and NMIMS dont consider your education background , Bang the Test And Rock at GD PI and You are IN
And AFA IIT Delhi concerned, You must have atleast 60% in 10th as well as in 12th and Grads or equivalent CGPA .

Hey Seniors, I have a question.
My college considers aggregate of Last Four semesters', And I have 7.2 with distinction In last 4 semester, but my 8 sem aggregate is only 6.2 with second class.,
So Would I be eligible for IITs ?

And moreover no one knows what would be the new selection criteria of IIM BLACKI this year, so you ll be lucky if the relax acads requirements.

But doing well in CAT/XAT is the most important thing in every case.

All the best, but 2hrs wont be sufficient, you have to put in a lot more if u have to get into top 15, portion should be completed by September and by october you should start revision

Puys i gave 4 unprotected mock tests(77.17,83.4,90,96.1) and came to the following conclusion through swot analysis.Guys I am very poor at vedic maths. I am able to solve most of the questions in unlimited time but when it is in a given time frame i always loose the battle. anyone having the same problem then please recommend puys. How to deal with the situation. Further am not able to find out answers to some of the questions of LOD 3 of arun sharma. Is there any key available guys......Hope i am asking the questions on the right thread....

Arun sharma list s very big, after some time u wil nt find it interesting. Norman lewis has got a list which are used very frequently and are enough for cat. Go for norman lewis and also go through all its sessions.

Arun Sharma word list is not too extensive , Norman lewis word list is better In my opinion

besides learning new words it would be helpful if you can figure out different ways to use day-to-day words

And then I got placed with great difficulty in off campus.. So I was told you can clear those exams...how about CAT??? But I have to do a MBA.... This is the first time I am going to write cat... go for Cl it has around10 proctored and 21 un-proctored mocks ,

i am an cat aspirant,
gave my cat 11 and flopped in it 52% only. negatives pulled everything down :(. then wrote mat dec, got 90.03% and then snap with a score of 66. really worried about cat'12. no idea how i am gonna catch up with ppl who are getting 90% and above very easily :(.

this is a big problem these days, companies asking freshers to sign a bond of 2 years. I will suggest you to join the company if the bond amount is not high. if it is payable join the company and you can leave the company if you get a decent college after exams. if the bond amount is too high than it can be a problem, then search for another job.......will not suggest you to drop.....

I have started my preperation from March 2012.
I have just TIME material and no other books.
I try to put in 1 hr everyday for preperation and the weekends.
I think I am weak in VA and DI.I find Quant challenging and LA comparitively easier.

I work in a software company and hence am able to devote 1 hr everyday after work.In the weekends I try to study.I want to know how to go about studying for CAT 2012.I find TIME material very exhaustive and am confused what to start with and what to study everyday(some days I practice speed enhancement tests and some days I solve the online sectional tests,which takes me twice the time alloted for it).I had answered CAT 2011 and was not prepared for it and scored 60 %ile.Should I solve all the exercises in the material first and then start with the sectional tests ??

CAT is not just aptitude, it also involves practise and hard work. just because you did not clear two aptitude tests doesn't mean you can not clear tests in future,
it's not late either, you barely have 2 years work-ex , give your best shot and you'll make it.

hi all, i am a 3rd year student (b.tech), wish to go with CAT. but there is an abnormality with my track record, as i will be completing my degree in five years instead of two due to a stupid rule introduced by our university!
even if i score >95% in CAT, do i really stand a chance to get admitted in any of the IIMs and other good colleges which consider CAT scores???

if you a 3rd yr b.tech student surely you are eligible for cat 2012,prepare for it in a high note thereby aiming maximum,just focus over a thing to get as much percentile closest to 99.xx,surely then you will be getting a seat in any of the top mba institute in India
