This may be my last post before I get my percentile scores by this evening.

Having scored well in the other two sections, I feel pretty satisfied.
Probably this was the last time I would have attempted CAT, and I feel sorry to feel that
we have been left speculating about the answers for one of the sections.

Kudos to all the people who have tried to find out the answers and have provided explanations which even most institutes haven't.You guys rock.

Hopefully we have raised enough voice to warrant an error free and non ambiguous
CAT 2007.

Point no 1 : VA is the toughest section
Point no 2 : IMS keys may not even be close to real keys
Point no 3 : Even VA gods are getting single digit score over here , if u followed this thread properly
Point no 4 : ur post is on wrong thread , go on cat 2007 thread

The only thing I can say is that getting a 40 in VA at home, and in the exam after the DI , QA pprs is an entirely different thing .. Dont look into this score AT ALL ... My suggestion : for u : keep reading without cat 2007 in mind , its too early to start serious prep for cat 2007 .

look mates.... when the times cl and ims answers re clashing so much... how can we be reliant on these keys.... CAT was totally perception based and with such close choices.... answers may vary due to a person perception... so i say all of us have to keep their fingers crossed till 2nd jan

but the highest %-age of ppl that have given the same answer for a particular Qn is only 25.7%. and there are only 5 Qns where more than 20% have given the same answer.Mind u this is only frm the ppl who have voted in the time score calculator. but even it tells a lot abt the ambiguities.

Incidentally these almost tally withTIME.But as I said earlier ther is no guarantee that these are correct.All the best.If others hv any views gathered frm senior knowledgeable ppl why dont u share here not only fr these ques but fr other RC ,para completion ques as well

Well, I know that this might qualify as spam... but I do not see any ambiguity on the above question... It is pretty clear who the best batsman is if you go by the performance alone... Saying more would be digressing from the thread... So I leave it there... We can discuss it in the Cricket thread if needed..

First off let me clarify that reg TIME keys these are nt my personal views (In fact im worse off with TIME keys).I got the impression that many feel TIME keys are closest. Additionally I consulted a senior person who is quite knowledgeable in VA.Acc to his reply he seems to be in agreement with TIME on IFJ ques.He also concurs with all ques in two RC passages with TIME (he didnt reply abt social justice wala RC ques dunno why) .As far as para completion ques he disagrees only on map wala ques wher he feels 3 as the choice.The point is he seems to agree with TIME in general .Of course that does not mean he and TIME hv got to be correct

Dude I checked CAT 2005... The distribution was 22 23 23 22...total 90... So equal distribution, fair enuf......
But Mr. crackthe cat, your theory doesnt hold true for this years Quant section... I think the answers are pretty clear..... atleast no equal distribution there... DI..yes you were perfect... And for verbal, ideally it should not be... for the whole paper to have 1 option 15 times each..
Nevertheless, I thought that was a great thought..something innovative.... just a few fallacies... but thats ok... I like the way you think..

I am not sure abt that:
I just checked the TIME keys and atleast for Form No 222 there are exactly five answers with option choice 5 for DI; And the number of answer with choice 3 is definitely not 13.
Also CAT2005 had questions with different marks. Could someone tell me how many marks did each section consist of in CAT 2005? That would be more helpful in analysing this theory.

friend,not only TIME but all institute's ocassionally had such absurd explainations to bewildering answers. The classic one which i can remember is " It is obvious from the passage" . And this was not from AIMCATS. in fact,in this regard i would say that TIME was the least of all evils. and lets not get down to naming specific instis here,guess dats against the rules.

and anywaysl,no use discussin things like these now.....the only absolute now is jan 2,all else is rubbish.

Anyways, applying the same principle to CAT 2006, I have come up with the following conclusions.
1) Quant: This section had no ambiguities. It is confirmed by the proper distribution of answers among the five options.(barring the mistake)
2) DI: This section had some ambiguities regarding two or four questions With heavy heart I would like to say that the answers provided by CL are the correct ones.(they conform to the 5 answers per option pattern). Thus the 2 and 3 provided by TIME is not 2 but 3 The answer 4 provided by IMS is incorrect. It has to 1 to fit the distribution rule Again the cannot be determined cases of Erodus numbers set would not be the correct answers if one applies the same rule. My score in DI is down to 56 L
3) VA/ RC: Well I voice the same opinion that most of you hold. All the institutes have messed up big time. The distribution of answers among the five options, respectively, for each of the institutes is as follows:
a) CL: 4, 3, 10, 6 and 2. I must say they have messed up big time. At least 6 answers have to be wrong.
b) IMS: 5, 5, 7, 8 and 1. At least 5 answers have to be wrong.
c) TIME: 5, 3, 8, 8 and 1: At least 6 answers have to be wrong.
d) CF: 4, 4, 9, 6 and 2. At least 5 answers have to be wrong.
e) Erudite: 3, 6, 6, 6, 3. At least 3 answers have to be wrong.
4) On a whole, I think that a very few aspirants can confidently say that they are going to bag calls. The results are for sure going to perplex even the confident junta. At the same time, the borderline people might bag all the six calls with stupendous percentiles.

Well..that was interesting.
The logic applied has to be true going by some common sense to avoid people from guessing and scoring by chance.

If it is indeed true then the VA keys would make or break the chances of people to get calls.People with good scores in QA and DI may worry a bit less.But for people banking on VA for overall cutoff, its a guessing game all the way.

Just a thought:

Why dont we calculate our VA marks using "Know what others have marked" of TIME?
This gives the % of ppl who have marked different options for each question. Until its very close, 14.2 and 14.5%, cant we be sure? I think the option that most of the junta have marked, should be correct (there can be few exceptions).
I am getting less marks by doing this though... I hope CF is the correct one( it was the last to change the answers..must have done some analysis...also it is very close to CL...except 1 question I think ).

I had meant RC answers... IJF is too confusing even for the Great IIMs i presume

Some of the para completions Keys in CL are surely incorrect since the source of those Paras have been mined out by the Puys using Google... and the actual sentences differ from the ones given in CL keys... Go thru the earlier pages of this thread to know about those questions... I dont remember exactly!!!

Some of the para completions Keys in CL are surely incorrect since the source of those Paras have been mined out by the Puys using Google... and the actual sentences differ from the ones given in CL keys... Go thru the earlier pages of this thread to know about those questions... I dont remember exactly!!!
