Ran home between a lecture and an assignment submission to give this AIMCAT (0 prep)

OA: 122

VA: 99.6
QA: 97.8 (and I got into my engineering undergrad by scoring 99.6%ile) :(

Basically got lucky- quant could easily have been 15 marks lower. It is messed up- haven't practiced calculations at all for 3 years and it shows- especially my divisions-

Does anyone know any tricks to to divide faster- I get stuck on those tedious DI calculations and taste a lot of time. And approximations really hurt in TIME AIMCATs.

Install "dopdf", "onenote", "pdfconertor" OR any such software. Then you can easily get the PDF of the same. Just you will have to click on the Print Button and select "dopdf" as your printer. Click on OK and here you go Man...!!

Which is the easiest method to solve this qn..

Find the number of 3 digit numbers which when divided by 11 leaves a remainder of 9 and when divided by 7 leaves a remainder of 2.

11p+9 = 7q+2

(11p+7)/7 = q

11p/7 + 1 = q

11p must be divisible by 7..so take p=7 then q=12
Nw 7q+2 = 86(not a 3 digit)
Nxt number = 86+(lcm of 7,11)k = 163 (here k=1)
Take k=11 thn the digit wud be...933..thats the last 3 digit..
Hence ans = 11...
This is the method i usd to solve...

Which is the easiest method to solve this qn..

I am not satisfied with the solution to the LR question dealing with buses and routes .. u can not take route -E -19.2 ( 80 % of 24) as 20 to be greater than or equal to bus- M- 20 ( 50% of 40) :nono:

Sometimes by luck u get a question right but dnt depend on the scores u never knw what happens on the D-Day so get ur basics right .

I would request Rooney etc who are getting wonderful scores to share some experiences of handling exam time pressure ( 70 min 30 questions) and also if they like they can guide us a little.

Do it like this :

16% sales is of Laptops is China and 28% in Australia
Ratio given in 3:1 => Total sales volume will be 3x and x resp.

Here, for China : 16*3x/100 - Laptops and thus, 84*3x/100 desktops
Similarly, for Australia : 28x/100 laptops => 72x/100 desktops.

Now ratio of price of desktops = 2:3

Thus, Sales Ratio of Desktops = 84*3x*2/72*x*3 = 84*2/72 = 7/3.

after 4 aimcat i have finally mustered up the courage to give my marks here... i have following each of the threads closely since 1320..

QA 23.79 55.5
LR VA 26 68.17
OA 63.56

i know my score is too low as compared to people here. i hardly get to see someone who scores like me. i started with a mere 35.23 %tile in my 1st ever mock and improved with every mock and this is what i am getting after 4 mocks :(

yaha toh sare 90 %tilers baithe hai... bhailog plz give me any suggestions how to improve my score further? i dn't have any strong points as such but QA is definitely weak area.

still have miles to go... hopeful see a better score next time :)

a lil suggestion for u is...go for accuracy...dn go for attempts...even if u attempt 30...make sure dey r absolutely correct ...dont aim high attempts...aim high accuracy...nd analyse each nd every paper properly nd make sure u dont repeat ur mistakes...nd understand the concepts and apply dem in the next mock...

Well my OA increased to 125.14 owing to the technical glitch

So after a pretty shitty AIMCAT 1318, heres a more pleasing kind of a percentile.

OA: 99.69%

QA: 98.35% (cud've been a tad better)

VA/LR: 99.61% ( pretty satisfied with this)

AIR 64 with a city rank of 6 , c'mon kolkatans u better buck up there should be more of us there in the top 50,

When u substitute a value b/w 1 and 2 (say 3/2), it gives 1*3/2 + 2/3/2 - 3 which gives f(x) as negative. hence, the graph should come below X-axis b/w 1 and 2 and also -1 and -2

to check negative/positive in the graph you have to check value between 1 and 2.. like 3/2.

I don't know.. what does it take to show up in the AIMCAT TOPPER'S LIST. I am highly aspiring for that. And yeah finally want to show up in the CAT TOPPER'S LIST as well.
Guys... please do let me know ... how to drastically improve my speed in AIMCATs???
