An info for the waitlisted guys-out of 92 seats,74 seats were filled up as on 2nd july.The rest of the seats are vacant.Cant tell the no of gen and category seats as the authorities werent ready to divulge details.All the best to the rest of the guys!!!

As far as NIT Durgapur is concerned, it accepts CAT and CMAT scores. The cut off for CAT this year was 55 percentile and CMAT was Rank 19164

Apply 4 ur migration certificate 2 ur colg/university u ppl belong,bcz its mandatory 2 submitt b4 ur 1st semester examz,n moreover colg/university takes time 2 issue d migration,especially d govt. colgs.so u guys r havin time now...........so immediately apply 2 ur respective colgs aftr ur admission....!!!!!!!!!!!

firstly i want to thank dipnis sir,prashant sir,ronal sir..they are really helpfull and explain our queries in a very good way n nw i m asking my ques:-
do experienced candidates have an edge over freshers or just put my ques in this way companies give more preferance to experienced than freshers?? or it entirely depends upon ur performance throughout the year n performance in interview???????

no nothing of that sort in campus placements..barring 5% cases..
experience is more sought after when u try off campus

finally time has come where i have to take most vital decision of my life within 2 days-
i have selected in bimm pune n nit durgapur. between these two colleges which i
choose finally.guys can u help me in making my decision???

Really a tuff tim 4 u.................cn understand ur situation as i hv been thru sch phase...................!!!!!!!!!!
see surojit u hv 2 consider every aspect n ur constraints,strtng wth ur financial soundeness 2 d colg plcmnt.Bimm no doubt its a very gud colg in pune wth ample opportunity 2 b placed.Bt again mst of d students ovr thr get placement wth a package ranging 3.5-4.5lacs,N few othr wth sum exceptions,wth d course fee of 6 lacs plus d cost of living is another factor 2 b considered.
On d very other hand NIT DGP fee is mere 1.16,n regardng placements i mst say dat nt mch company come 4 HR,bt again d company wch cums provide a high package.bt its nt necessary dat situation wl b same evry year...................it varies year aftr year.
So finally i find BIMM betr than nit dgp as far as bimhrd is concerned....!!!!!!!

No sch discrimination.................plcmnts will nt depend upon ur past background,bt wholly it wl b based upon ur performance n knowledge gained here...............!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

well that depends....some companies prefer a B.tech/B.E. degree as their job requires some technical knowledge...but that amounts to a mere 10%...and for the rest what matters is that u shud be a graduate with 60% marks, and that's it....so don't worry at all....infact for B.tech guys there's a disadvantage bcoz the intrview-panel test their engineering skills which, in almost all the cases, they don't possess

as far as placements are concerned, it entirely depends upon u.. Management Dept. and the college would provide u assistance but in the end it'll be you who'll have to work and strategize for your and the whole dept's placement...

WHY WONT YOU FIND NIT-DURGAPUR in TOP 100 COLLEGE LIST????:)

Most Magazines, News channels, Business corporations, and other agencies which publish this rankings ask respective colleges to participate by registering their name and inviting the survey members to inspect the different parameters for ranking. undoubtedly the best college in india i.e, the IIMs, XLRI, ISB, TISS, SP JAIN,ETC always get the top rankings (even if they dont register).

Now comes the medium level good private colleges, these also come somewhat in the rankings based on their previous performance.
YOU SHOULD NOT BE SURPRISED to see some of the WORST MANAGEMENT COLLEGES( ****, ICFAI, ISB&M;) in the rankings too, coz these colleges do a lot more than registering by literally paying the survey members a fat package to just put their names in the list.......:sneaky:

NOW comes the good govt institutes like, NITs, RECOGNISED UNIVERSITIES,ETC. these colleges invest in faculty, courses, and education, intead of silly advertising. They dont claim 100% placement or being the top institutes in some silly survey list. These colleges are good beyond doubt. and a degree from a GOOD GOVT COLLEGE can never match the ones provided by these THEMSELVES CLAIMED TOP INSTITUTES.

SO MY ADVICE: dont choose a college based on rankings and placement claims,........ research yourselves, GO THROUGH ALL PARAMETERS and take the right decision.
