First day is on june 18. The orientation program starts at 9 AM. You will get a detailed mail from college in the next one or two weeks. You can reach hostel by 16th or 17th. Make sure you reach in office hours so that room allotment happens smoothly. Book your tickets accordingly.

Yes there is a guest house but I am not sure if they are allowing candidates coming for counseling to stay there. Just call up the office and enquire.
You will get more inexpensive options at Chembur. Google for accommodation in Chembur, which is like 10 mins by auto to the campus. One of my friends had suggested 'Highway lodge' for cheap accommodation in Chembur.

1) Mess charges are different from Mess Deposit.
Monthly its approx 2400/-(last yr fig, it might change a bit)
2) At present, for us fees is 2.2 lac + 75k(hostel).
3) For loans, banks visit our campus when classes begin. However, u can approach any bank and can get details from there if u r thinking of going early.

Yes, the institute will send you a mail if your waitlist number clears. You will then have to pay the fee and send across required docs.

FS results are most likely to come out in the next 5-6 days..

Based on waitlist movements, the institute will send you a mail if you are selected.. Candidates get an offer mail as late as the beginning of June as well..

I have been called for counselling on 18th for the IB program and I am waitlisted at 207.

I was waitlisted at 164. By considering ratio and proportion of appearance of 1st waitlist people, you have bright chances of convert. :)

And as waitlist of few more colleges will moves on, there are chances of cancellation of few seats.

P.S: I am not going to cancel my admission at any cost.

Hi.. i am not senior..
But I was there in counselling session for 1st wait list people. THere were 80 seats available for 1st WL and 72 came for the counselling. Hence 8 seats are still left for WL 2 people. As far as chances are concern, it all depend on number of people appear on that day. So you can not predict anything. But be there. See you at SIMSR campus. :)

If waitlist 159, 245 are getting converted it seriously gives bad image of college. I really want to know is Somaiya any good. Had it been not many would have opted out of admission procedure

relax!! to put things in perspective, even in the best colleges in the country like XLRI and IIMs candidates waitlisted at 90-100 routinely convert every year. In fact to prevent exposing the high candidate attrition rate many colleges avoid providing waitlist numbers to candidates and choose to simply say "you are waitlisted". But this practice decreases the openness of the selection process and is severely detrimental to the intrests of the aspirants as they will have no clear picture as to whether he/she will make it or not. K J Somaiya in fact needs to be commended for its open and fair practices although it risks being seen in bad light in naive eyes such as yours.
