IT is one of the most challenging and attractive professions.
Here we deal with very tough clients and get to know what exactly business needs are,
here we get lots of opportunities to learn from challenging assignments. We say that we are working in the worst surrounding, and the company is the worst...
but this tough surrounding helps us improve our team building skills and leadership skills .. which helps us in long run.
I am proud of being and Engineer and working in IT.

I don't understand what is everyone's problem with the IT Guys. It is arguably the onlt thing we a no.1 in the world and still growing, the only thing that comes a close second is our population, That I think is growing faster that IT ...... I dont think manufacturing with all it arrogance and unions even comes close to us.
And no one want's an IT guy coz we a too fuc....g similar.....they want ******Diversity***** the new buzzword for the IIM directors.

I really like IIT-D,B admission procedure .... score good and get a call.... normal and simple....

Not like our IIMs all going searching for our class KG results ..... and then normalising it ... the psycos...

one more info for you old monk....cutoff for MFC was never 98..even before 2 years ..1 year and now...it was mixture of academics and cat score and guys with 95%ile with good academics were able to get a call

Answer: bhailog, tumhen patan hai ki IIT D me seats kitni hain, sirf around 60 general seat.... compare kar lo kitni kitni hain nitie, mdi aur imt me. Aur ek bahut practical example, 2 saal pehle MFC karke ek college jo delhi me hai, shayad naam b nahin suna hoga kayee logon ne, b cat ke under aaya tha, uski cut off 98+ gayee thi...sunaa... 98+.... kyunki wahan sirf 25 general seats hain...baad me dey turned to profile based but pagalguy ki rankings compare kar lo ab MFC aur IIT D ki aur batao kya galat hai is cut off me..

Bro we are infuriated not beacuse IIT-D's Cut offis very high , It's because what precedence it is setting , The whole concept of MBA in india is revolving too much around the placements and whole concept of selceting the students revolving around high cut-offs . We all, as well as IIMs, are agreeing that High cut off can't measure the standards of student and yes I am a guy with a low acad but I accept that I can get a high CAT score by fluke but concistent academic performace can't be fluke , maybe for someone it can be but it will be a one-off condition , also we all would like that IIMs include proper weightage to work-ex , and some of us will agree that if a proper precedence to extra curricular activities is given then majority will find CAT criterion as satisfying , Now when you say we will select any student above 98.XX and that also just for GD-PI round , you are quite visibly eliminating all those skills people will be displaying in GD-PIs , I am quite sure that most of the people called for IIT-D will be getting a seat. Comparisons definitely will be there as IIT-d will definitely be the last choice for teh students around that perecentile range . That means what IIT-D wants to say is that if u can solve maths questions and one fine morning , you come up all trumps against normalization and tricky english question , you have the potential to decide about teh new merger & acquistions plans of TATA sons , u can decide about teh strategy about launchin a cosmetic product by lo'real in indian market , you understand how Indian stock markets will behave under if greece defaults , how to devise teh ways of encashing Flipkar's new promotional techniques of making Indian cutomer comfortable about internet transactions , and no body can teach these skills , It's the GD-PI round, I assume which sees all such skills of a student that you have inside the ability to be one of those managers who will shien out from teh crowd , But yes IIT-D thinks it's about 98.XX , cool enough , there college , there decisions ,


Point 3: Naye wale IIMs chala jaunga... kaun aayega IIT D...
answer: to mat aao bhai, kisne kaha hai.. IIT D aapke paise se nahin chal raha... jao jahan jaana hai... koi fark nahin padta... wahan jaake kim kardarshian nahin lil jayegi tumhen...wahan jaake jab aapki ankhen khulengi.. tab aake banghead karte rehna har thread pe...

I would still like to say that all the IIMs are not about placements but teh pedagogy as well as MBA environment , diveristy when whole world is trying to provide at the of the world is something to be taken seriously ,we should understand that the first thing you need to understand inside a MBA class is there can be so many diversified approachin for a problem and it's you who have to take your decision and then execute it . Decisions are more about execution rather than planning . What diversity brings in a class is so many differnt persepctives that after being 2 year in such a environment , a student is expected to bring all those persectives in mind and like wise take decisions which end up being profit making ,(not exclusively in terms of money). So , maybe we shoudl understand that while picking up a b-school , you should not just see what package it will get me , rather than what sort of manager it will create out of me .




Point 4: kaun jayega 98+ wala IIT D me?
Answer: hamare kayee mitra abhi wahan padh rahen hain aur padh b chuke hain... aur aapki jaankari ke liye bahut hain 98+ wale wahan par... POINT yeh hai ki jin logon ko 99 laane ke baad b IIMs se call nahin aaye na.. unko kabhi nahin aayegi. kyunki unke acads kharab hain... jo ki sudhar nahin sakte... aur baaki jin top colleges se call aayegi bhi.. wahan b second round m acads to dekhe hi jayenge( har jagah...IITs are no exception)... aur jab B-School me ghusoge na. tab b acads dekhe jaate hain har jagah chahe kahin chale jao.. to BHAILOG, agar acads faad nahin hain na aur profile hai tumhari average( average maane IT me kaam karke aaye ho), to IIT D b tum logon ke liye jannat hi hai..

Well i am not surprised that IIT cutoff are so high. IIT have such a vast Alumni and brand name which is difficult to beat.

I feel IIT will overtake MDI etc by a huge margin in a few years due to their ALUMNI ..

Only IIM can match IIT in Brand Name..

Answer: actually, aap management education ko sirf placement samjhte hain... thik hai kuch IIMs placements me better hain.. but aap education ke baare me sawaal na hi uthaye to acha hai.. kyunki aapko pata b nahin hai kaun maharathi log pahate hai IIT me.. jaake IIT me prof banne ka criteria dekh lo... aur IIM me dekh lo.. zameen aasmaan ka fark hai... jitne MDPs aur research papers akela IIT D chhapta hai.. utne milaake saare IIMs b nahin karte... kahin baahar videsh jao... aur batao ki IIT se hain.. fat se pehchaan jayega.. aur IIM samjhna padta hai... bhaiyaa ji IIT maane India ka education ka mandir.....chahe engineering ho ya management....

This MBA has become a hot-seat for people >98 percentile.....they already had old IIM's....now the 6 new IIM's....now FMS...NITIE...MDI....and if that was not all....IIT-B and IIT-D have gifted themselves to this percentile range

No bitterness with anyone >98 percentile (its your hardwork thats paying off)...but on a more practical note, a 96.xx or 97.xx percentiler deserves equal chance to appear for GD/PI

And IIT-B and IIT-D cutoffs are really shocking

Is se achcha last year hi 91.xx pe MBA kar liya hota....no point in wasting a year for a better college :banghead:

My biggest worry is the fact that our parents had huge expectations of us making to IIT's this year....but its all over now i guess...

To all the aspirants like me, dont lose heart guys...we have come a long way....one or the other good institute will accept us...

the one thing common in the application forms of IIT-D,IIT-Kgp & FMS is the SOP...i can't help wondering at times if this is in some way responsible for the delay in bringing out the gd/pi shortlist...

SOP will come into play only during interview, AFAIK...

IITB called 10 people for every one seat. Considering only general, ( 67 seats) they gave call to first 670 student (only CAT crietria was followed)

Do you think first 670 Engineers cannot be in top 1.2 % of entire country who gave CAT??

No. of first 1% of CAT writers were 1700. More than 70 % of CAT writers are Engg.:banghead::banghead:
