1) Just to re-iterate a few points made on earlier posts:
The very fact that you have got a call means that you have a fighting chance.There are ample instances where candidates with even average profiles have made it, courtesy a cracking interview.
Be confident about your profile. Don't get psyched out even if you don't have a few brownie points up your sleeves. (The last thing any candidate should do is to start comparing his/her profile with others'.)
2 and 3) Wait for your offer letter. It would carry the details of admission office. Get in touch with them reg. your query.
4) Don't lose sleep pondering over whether you would get the above point approved or not. Rather focus all your energies on the interview preparation. That would really help you crack the call :-)

1) No checking per se. But, A is very very particular about keeping deadlines. If previous trends are anything to go by, the interviews will be in Hotel Monarch Luxor. Depending on where you live, you might want to set out early enough to reach there.

Your offer letter would carry the details of admission office. Inform them of your case and they would do their best to accommodate you. It goes without saying that there are no guarantees, more so due to the fact that this time they have to coordinate their interviews with B and C too. Hence, they might not be able to reschedule other candidates readily. Good luck.

4. For Computers, apart from DS, algorithms, OS and DBMS, which subjects are important?

1) Talk to the authorities, you have to show a proof that you will be having an exam on the day of the interview. Your venue might be changed because the faculty will be in your city for only a limited number of days.
2) You will get the letter very soon. 'A' is very prompt in this regard. My first interview letter was 'A' out of all the calls (from Blue Dart)
3) That is not your concern. You should focus on what 'A' asks you to do, and all the guidelines will be made crystal clear in the official letter, wait for it and don't fall for rumours.
4) Everything is important and maybe nothing is important. The interviewer sometimes gives you a choice of the subject and but you cannot rule out the need of knowing atleast the basics of all the subjects. So try to do a few subjects properly and rest try to atleast remember what was there in them :P

Though disappointed for having missed the PGP bus with 2-3 marks in quant,

I may sound like a newbie, but how different is the 2nd yr of this course?

Is it recommended for someone with little interest in agriculture?

I have heard many of the ABMs shift from agriculture and food related fields.
Is this true?

2nd yr courses are different for the PGP ABM guys. The emphasis is more on the agri related courses. Regarding ABMs shifting from agri and food related fields it depends on ur potential and opportunity.
As of now create more options for choosing the MBA programs. later u can choose the better option if u have.

Congrats for getting the call.
1. As you have 18 months work ex you can be asked about both acads as well as regarding work ex. Be assured that the panel would have done their home work and therefore they expect you to be in that preparation level. so better brush up your acads soon.
2. do practise for essays as they give you a very short time of just 10 min.( last year). This can be discussed in the interview as well. Go through the recent developments and general topics and form opinions from the newspaper readings.
So gear up for the next level.

Since A lot of new puys are present in the thread. It would be nice for them to go through the last year experiences. Do not look to much into the experiences because a lot of time, you may think are we supposed to know that too, but actually that question would have flowed from some part of his/her profile; nonetheless go through the experiences.

Puys, IIMA gives you more than a fair chance to prove your worth. It has the least ratio of interview calls per seat. So give your best shot.
Process can change, but till last year we had essay followed by interview. Do prepare for interview but spare some of your time for interview too. They give 10 mins for understanding+thinking relevant information+structuring which means a person who has practised enough will have an advantage.

Prepare well:
1. Read up the current issues, as much as possible. Ideally read one good Daily and Business newspaper.
2. Analyze what you read and form your own views.
3. Be very thorough with your profile. Be ready to speak about everything you have done till date in a structured way with proper explaination. ( Think through this aspect really well.)
4. For freshers', it is specially advisable to just brush up a few basics pertaining to your stream of specialisation.( Some subjects which form the backbone of your course)
5. For candidates with work-ex, it is a pre-requisite to be thorough with everything related to the domain of your work, till date plus it is also advisable to go through a few basic stuff from your last degree in College.(Acads might just come up during the interview, happened with me and many others)

I do have catch 22 situation. I am travelling back to US mid feb and postponing the trip seems unlikely... I can hold on only uptill around 20th Feb.

If I give the interview as scheduled of 4th March I ll have to shell out additional 70-80 K for airfare.

Dates are shifted if there is a clash in interviews but you should definitely bring your case to the authorities and get going. So only offical authorities can help you, be quick and all the best.

We don't have mentorship programme per se but in some time we will starting the 'ask the students' programme where you get in touch with seniors and can take their advice and opinion on array of things.

First tit-bits on prepartion for interview:

1) Be confident, as you have got a call you are at equal footing with anybody in the world.
2) Read a lot, not just arbitrary reading but a lot of stuff which helps you form opinion about major issues in the world.
3) Start working on a few regular but important personal question, its your zeal for the programme which sets you apart.
4) Soon to be 'facchas' just relax enjoy your success in getting the coveted call from A, and we 'tucchas' will do our best to get you going.

I do have catch 22 situation. I am travelling back to US mid feb and postponing the trip seems unlikely... I can hold on only uptill around 20th Feb.

If I give the interview as scheduled of 4th March I ll have to shell out additional 70-80 K for airfare.

Is there a way where I can prepone my interview to 20th or earlier...Can you provide some contact details where I can enquire.
