there were just 7 people in the group.discussion was good. but, we finished under 10 minutes. then the panel asked us to summarize randomly. i chipped in few relevant points. overall good GD

L: so you have a flight to catch? (i had asked for my interview to be shifted because i had a flight)
Me: yes mam. i am going to mumbai.
L: you have an interview there?
Me: yes mam. NMIMS
L: so which college will you choose?
Me: convinced them why i would choose FORE over NMIMS
G2: so you are an engineer
Me: i am in my final year. i am doing BE in chemical
G2: ohh chemical. then why are you leaving chemical for MBA. chemical sector has so many good companies.
Me: told them my answer for why MBA. but i mentioned i don't want to work on shop floor
G2: so you only want to work in AC cabins. all the real work is done on shop floor. even after you get MBA, companies will send you to rural areas to sell toothpaste or shoes

but sir, i dont have problem with rural areas. its just that i want to MBA so that i can be in a position to bring a change. being just an engineer wont help.
the discussion continued for 15 minutes or so. G2 finally was satisfied.

GDPI: strength: 11 out of 13. Panel: 2 ladies, one Sir(he came late). Topic was- Indian Marketing strategies target children for advertisement. Here the group devised two meanings for the given topic. One, that the agencies make ads for children and another that the agencies show children in their advertisement.
GD was not very good as we could not develop on many of the points. Only few things were discussed.
All were given time say 25 sec to summarize.

PI: 3 ladies were there. Two were same from the GD panel.

L1, L2, L3 and M(E).

L1: So where are u staying currently.
M: In Chandigarh
L1: Why MBA?
m: Told
L1: Would be able to cope up with the studies with a gap of 4 years after ur first job.
M: Told. Convinced her on the points that i studied for CAT and other competitive exams, and even after a long gap I did better than 90% candidates.(My cat %ile is 90).
L1: OKKK.
L3: Why dont u take any college in Chandigarh say UBS.
M: Told.
L2: Indian Economy
M: (What??) Ask for sometime to think so that i can organize my answer. After 10 secs started from 1991 economy state. Interrupted.
L2: Only current....
M: Blah blah blah (really!!) interrupted
L2: It industry.
M: again blah blah....and actually i think i wsn't making much sense there.

L1: Did u see our cafeteria?
M: Yes
L1: If we give u a chance to change it...how would you do that? (cooking is my hobby and in my sop i wrote presentation is a must thing nowadays)
M: :wow::wow::wow::wow::wow:....said something about the menu. Then appreciated the ceiling and said that i would like to change the sitting arrangements a little.
L1: Ok you can leave now.

Overall: The worst GDPI i had till now. I don't know why but the panel looked very apprehensive about my candidature.

please do remember that they will ask for mark sheet + passing certificate for X and XII, which I did not have. They told me that I will have to fetch the certificate from the school...and have all the xerox copies before hand although xerox and printer are available in the campus itself (xerox-Lib, one floor below and printer, one floor above)

I was the second last person to be called for the interview out of 13 person in my group and i was free around 5 pm ...so if any body having there interview will be free max by 5.30 pm..

Plz be sure not to bluff there and Guys GK tayar kar ke aana, as many interview's were focused on GK and yourself..

And GD should be group oriented not self oriented...This will have a positive impression..

I guess I screwed up the beginning part plus one or two questions here and there but all in all they did not question me back on most of answers otherwise if the interviewer is not convinced, s/he will dig deeper and make you cry...

Advice: Take good sleep the previous night and please say afternoon only when it's afternoon

I have over 3.5 years of experience...can I expect the same amount of grilling on current issues or for experienced guys, are they concentrating more on work-ex? Actually a little time is left for my interview (Monday morning) and I am not so much prepared to be grilled on current issues. So should I just focus on my work-ex and whatever I have mentioned in the form or knowledge on current issues is mandatory?
PS: I have decent info about what's happening around but not as much, so I am a bit worried.

*headquarters of different brands like nokia,daewoo,hyundai etc
*y not taking job now
*other calls etc.

i have the experience certificates for both bt i dnt hav the pay slips of last company as i was receiveing salary cash in hand...
so will the experience certificate suffice to prove the work-ex or will i need the salary slip also???

It was a very good discussion... no fish market... everybody gave their opinions.. so all in all a very good experience...

PI was a mixed bag... Lot of GK questions and current affairs... I am a B.Com(H) graduate and have a two year work ex but even then they started asking questions from 12th class accounting...

PI experience : again hv to say : as it started with my introduction and things not written in that information form ,i said i believe in value and ethics thn the trouble started they keep on saying hw could i put ethics in business ...give us examples of being unethical... on an all through out the interview an argument was going on ethics in business i hv to stick to my view and my belief in marketing concept and not in product concept ..neither i want to switch as marketing is not my field i will hv my major as finance ... beside all that argument other question also came related to my acad ,stock market , etc etc which i answered all of them .

hv to say chances are less as my pi was more of an argument ..

GD Experience :great gd ,everyone was polite,did become a fish market once or twice,but it gradually subdued to low levels,everyone made their point.
advise: don't go to a gd with aggressive frame of mind. you may be the reason gd becomes a fish market.
PI experience : stress interview.panel was laughing their arse of at me.
didn't listen to me. was asking weirdest of question for the first 10 min.
after 10 min they started asking sensible question.although i don't know the correct time but pi must have gone on for 25-30 mins

GD Experience : A crappy experience for me as I find it difficult to handle fish markets. Here, we had a fish market of 13 people. Everyone was shouting, there were parallel speeches and some skilled people were able to bargain for their chance to speak. But I think I did a good job at the conclusion part, better than some others who took it as a chance to speak their own points rather than the group's consensus...

PI experience : Probably the coolest interview that I could have.
The panel members were senior faculty members and were really cool throughout the interview.

Kindly advise me what can be done.1st March is the last date of submitting the form.

Net SqlClient Data ProviderString or binary data would be truncated. The statement has been terminated.This is the error message I'm getting.

Anyways I think you asked the same query in that thread also. Please wait for few minutes/hours before you post the same question in multiple threads. As you notice your query has been answered in other thread in just 10 minutes or so. So this post is irrelevant and can be considered as spam!!

CAT:- 97 %ile

GD Topic- About the Grading system that Kapil Sibal introduced.
GD Time limit:2min to think,20 min to discuss.
GD Experience : Nice GD; every one spoke and relevant points were given by every one.

PI experience : I didnt understand what these guys were up to. Asked about why finance and not engineering; said you are wasting your time and efforts. they were there to ask questions not accept answers. was a generic interview no acads; no work Ex; nothing about engineering just Finance( b'coz of CFA level-1 exam) which i was able handle easily. then they turned to scams asked me tell 3 major scam.( I forgot adarsh society scam and then forgot the Maharashtra CM who steeped down).

Then they turned towards problems in libya and other countries and japan(though theres no problem there). One more thing they said you can get job easily in investment banking or brokerage firm, you should not come here for MBA.

Interview ended with hows present govt is doing in India.

advise to pals:- go there stress free and enjoy the moment. dont get stressed out. people tend to get nervous there. just have some tea or coffee which they serve free of cost. and all the best.

Sorry for not following the format, am in a slight hurry but I had to post this. Puys aren't posting their experiences for some strange reason. :

Anyhow, here goes.

Had my slot at 09:00 am, reached the FORE campus at 08:45 am. Neat building. For those who don't know, FORE is on the same lane as IIFT, most auto wallahs don't seem to know FORE, so you can give IIFT or Rockland Hospital as reference. Wahan se khud dhund lena. :D

All the people were divided into three groups and you are made to sign on a sheet as soon as you enter and you're also given a number. Then you are led to Pragya Hall, which is basically a seminar room kinda hall. There were 13 people in my group, of which 3 people were absent. You keep sitting in Pragya Hall till they finish all the formalities. There's chai in between, but koi le hi nahin raha tha. You can leave all your belongings in Pragya Hall, no tension. :)

Then they showed us a chhota sa movie on FORE, Freda ma'am looks so cute! Then they took us to our GD where the seats were already numbered, and we sat accordingly. The GD according to me was a complete disaster, complete fish market! Topic- About the Grading system that Kapil Sibal introduced, forgot the exact words. I hope these topics don't get repeated. Could enter the GD barely 4-5 times but I think I did a fairly good job. 3 mins to think and write (paper is provided), 12 mins to discuss oops shout, and 20 secs each to summarize. People kept repeating their points, some people dominated the GD, overall not satisfactory at all. As a group, I think we failed big time. The seats are placed so far away that one almost needs to shout to be heard, and 13 people in a group is a bit too much I feel. :splat::banghead::nono:

After that I got back to Pragya Hall and waited for my PI turn. It's the wait that's killing. Finally, after about an hour's wait, I was called for my PI. The PI was smooth, friendly panel, in fact the same panel as the GD. No specific questions as such, but they did ask me 'why MBA'. Apart from that, they mostly pick stuff from the Information Sheet so fill it really carefully. The sir kept grilling me on photography (had mentioned it as one of my hobbies), they also asked me about my percentile and other calls. It's better to be honest and tell them all your calls, they can find out. :shocked:

Then the document verification took place, that was smooth. The sirs checking the documents though, were more interested in finishing up the cookies and chai first. A note here, just 10th and 12th marksheets won't suffice, you also need to get photostats of the 10th and 12th passing certificates. Photostating is not a problem though, you have two photostat corners at FORE, so that's not an issue. :)

The seniors, I saw a couple of them while waiting for my PI turn. They just looked at us and went away. No talking. That's about it, smooth process, it helps if you are first in your group, the entire process will finish off real quick. I was 7th in my group and it took about 3 hours to get done with it.

PI experience : It was a very general one. Seemed like they were trying to enjoy each and every moment of these interviews. No acads were asked.

@anubhav-if ur work doesnt involve intricacies of domain knowledge,state clearly to the panel.for sbi question,data is insufficient.we dont knw no of fields for each customer and total no of customers.

But then my work is mostly related to developing a website... This particular ques comes into the DOMAIN part and ideally one should know it but SHOULD one really know the banking terms in that detail!!!??? :shocked:
