Will be opting for Operations specialisation.
Will be taking partial bank loan. Have anybody talked to the banks?Submitting 4.20 lacs by 15/04 will get hectic without bank loan.

1)Courses are designed based on a sustainable basis, no single sector or domain is given any special preference.
2)Placement wud be conducted from the gurgaon campus, and not the chennai campus, regardless of personal expenditure.
3)The answer for that question cannot be answered by anybody, except the people who are already there in the college, and the answer is LOTS!! :)
4)Unless the batch starts how can any institute already start the placement?? however given the response that we are getting from the industry for the 2 year PGPM(Energy) program, placement would not be a concern. At the end of the day, please have faith in ur own self and your own strngths. Getting a placement is ur own capability, getting the company 2 u wud b done by the college!!

1) Great Lakes, Chennai is almost done with their admissions for the 1 year program.
Nothing lyk dat, there are many students who have been offered in both locations. Infact there are aspirants who have specifically opted for Great Lakes, Gurgaon.
2) Refund generally happens within 15 days, maybe even earlier in many cases.

for almost 4-5 days I'm consistently reading this forum. One day ago I was also a part of his precious decision of whether to join GL Gurgaon or not!!! Well let me try and clear some confused minds around...

1. I myself have got an admission call from GL Gurgaon and was as confused as fellow puys. I've got 4 yrs work ex and tht too in 4 different industries (I always wanted to explore as many industries as possible before my MBA). So the question arises is this 1 yr MBA suitable for me??? Guys ask for urself

If u too are having a range of experience then I feel 1 yr is suitable for those who want to stick with the same field....In case u want to change ur professional field then I guess 1 yr is not suitable

2. Consider the Alumni of the college....Theres none so u will be walking on a double edged sword as U will be the first batch and also u will have to do a lot of work to make this brand (GL gurgaon ) recognizable.

3. For all those guys who currently earn more than 8lacs I guess the amount of hike this MBA wud give is wht Im skeptical abt. Dont get me wrong... Who knows it might surpass our expectations but then realistically it seems a daunting task .... Yes for those in the range of 4-5 lacs its a winning situation as u can expect a package which is decent enough

4. Fees of the institute personally bit high and asking to pay 4.20 lacs in a span of 15 days is too steep for me. The risk associated with it is too high in my case.

5. Guys pls dont get into this AICTE recognition thing as its just for name sake. Yes it is relevant but look at colleges like ISB even it is not AICTE recognized. At the end of the daY you should be concerned with the faculties who will be teaching u and not this recognition.. I mean there are many AICTE recgnized colleges in India which are not wrth mentioning...

6. Also I feel the location of this college is really a plus point considering tht all the INDIAN MAJOR and MNCs are gurgaon based

7. Lastly, I feel one should believe in himself/herself and a lot of networking if one wants to succeed in securing a decent job post MBA.

It has a basic infrastructure with airconditioned classrooms, conference rooms & a cafeteria.

Got the offer from GLIEMR for PGPM. Had my i/v on 03/04 @ mumbai. Anybody else got selected from same slot and taking the offer. Please share on this thread about the merits and demerits etc. The acceptance date is on 04/04, so need to take the decision quite fast.
My profile: 4.5 yrs in Mfg/Operations

According to me the merits:
1)the course fee is ok, if not great compared to some other 1 yr PGPM offers, like SPJ GMBA
2)the brand name of Great Lakes
3)I have full trust on the esteemed faculty of GL
4)had a look on subjects to be taught, looked quite interesting
4)the strategic location of Gurgaon will be of advantage in case of placements
5)the 1st batch of GLIEMR passing out has good placement record(till the knowledge i have) considering the fact that it is the 1st batch,times are not that good
6)the batch size is small
7)the institute is progressing fast on path of success(i was selected for PGPM Energy program in 2011 but cudnt take the offer then, since then i hv been following the institute, so can say that the college has progressed for good)

the demerits:
1)we will be the 1st batch of PGPM 1 yr
2)the course has no approval- but even GL,Chennai was not approved at its commencement. I hope to see GL,Gurgaon also in the same league as GL,Chennai in the years to come.
3)For guys with already 8+ salary will the placements be satisfactory.
4)I am quite sure of taking operations mgmt as it is my trade. But the specialisation will be offered only if more than 10 guys opt for one.What if no body else takes Operations as spl and i hv to settle with something that i dnt want.

Here is another aspect that needs to be considered...... The benefit that we wont receive while opting for Gurgaon:
The MOUs help the students and Great Lakes conduct research related activities and thus if any of the students are interested in presenting papers then the Yale - Great Lakes Center for Management Research is a great platform for it. Needless to mention, one can network with international research community comprising of professors, industry experts and scholars.
If someone wants to do a Phd from Illinois then there are some privileges attached as a Great Laker. Further, MOUs also help in faculty and knowledge resource exchange programs.

1) Call letter for Gurgaon PGPM has been sent based on your profile
2) No. of seats in Gurgaon PGPM is between 30-50(depending) on the profile again.
3) The offer letter was sent based on the profiles of the students, also it has also been taken into consideration that the quality of students have not been compromised.
4) Wait-list is transparent, it is entirely a profile based system, post interviews the selection is done based on the merit of the student, not only in CAT/XAT/GMAT/GREAT but also work ex,interview,acads,extra-curricular.
5) Again depends on the profile, but rest assured, being the 1st batch, management wud do its utmost to get the highest package possible, as it is striving for in the 1st batch of PGPM(Energy).
6) That is finally your call, the decision to take or not 2 take depends upon u.

you do not need to separately apply for the hostel facility, just inform the admissions office about the same, i.e, single or double, mailing them would be a better idea, like I did last year. Plz do inform whether u need a single or double occupacy. For self transportation, u get autos, but i wud suggest if possible get ur own vehicle, it becums simpler then, just an option, dnt be alarmed!! U do get bus facilities, infact 4, next year,the college is planning 2 arrange 4 shuttle bus services, which will be available at a very short notice on a regular basis 4m hostel 2 college!

i have my PI on 24/march @9:30 am,i got the acceptance letter 28 evening...

I have already transferred the money today. I feel we can go ahead provided i get the answer for the below questions.

Another point is that Gurgaon is a industrial hub, but it would be good to share the name of the companies that will be visiting the campus.
What is the average salary we can expect for a 4-5 yrs exp people from GL-Gurgaon.
3) Batch Size - It has been mentioned that planned batch size would be 50. There are two possible scenarios. First is that no. of students joining the course can be more than 70. Second scenario being no. of students opting would be less than 30. what is the contingency plan in both these scenarios.

Please note that i am not undermining the GL brand. Its my humble request to answer the above questions as we will be investing a lot of money on this program.

My mind already shifted to positive side.
Will transfer the amout tommo and will mail the acceptance letter.
Last date for me is 3rd April.

Maybe wrong, but I have a feeling......
I was going through some posts in the PGPM Chennai page....... I happened to speak to some of them who were put on the wait list and got confirmation during the last few days( exactly after the link to accept the Gurgaon were sent to those eligible among the wait listers). Now, those who accepted the form were immediatly given admissions(into Gurgaon)..... Hiding the fact that they still had seats left at the Chennai campus.......
What I reckon is that those who chose Gurgaon were considered desperate and the others would choose some other insti rather than choosing Gurgaon....hence they were immediatly offered seat at Chennai...... THIS IS A FACT!! Hence, if you get a call from Gurgaon, they can identify you as some one with lesser no. of options...Hence, they tend to choose Gurgaon( not to mention the time constraint)....So, I dont think any kind of wait list movement now at Chennai will offer seat to somebody who chose Gurgaon!!
Adcom had a clear plan about this......May be I am wrong, but thats what I feel after my research.....

Valid points. Now my 2 cents in extension to my previous post:
Faculty: One can see the list of faculty in the pdf brochure of GLIEMR. With them faculty from Chennai campus will also be visiting. But ofcourse all faculties can not be expected. I am less(if not least) bothered about this part. I think a mix of faculties from the campus will do good.

As far as batch size and placements are concerned only time has the answers.All we can see for this is the statistics available for the ongoing batches. But their being a 2 yr program we cant compare that course with ours. All we can do is to believe on the brand name and credibility. But one thing is for sure, this being the first batch the institute will try all its means to get us well placed and ensure that the course runs well so that it becomes something to look upon for the upcoming batches.

Most importantly, We can see that in most of the places it has been mentioned that GL,Gurgaon program would be same as GL,Chennai program but we are not sure how far this would be replicated from Chennai to Gurgaon.

Above all, i do feel that since it is a first batch i believe that team GL,Gurgaon would work hard to prove a point for this course. But it all depends on the mgmt.

In a dillema that whether to join or not as the fees are very high and no aicte approval.But GreatLakes Brand is very good.

i have not received any mail, meaning that m not selected.. Btw may i know, when nd where did u hav ur PI?

Got a confirmation email from GL gurgaon.... But asking to pay 80k by 4th april which is manageable. however by 15 april telling me to pay 4.20 lacs not possible....

Great Lakes IEMR has no association with any University, so its not UGC recognised.

Last date is already over, but still u can call da admissions office and check with Mr. Karan Handa about the same.
1)Program will start sumtym arnd mid may
2)You can sit fr the GREAT exam.
3)Depends on the profile of the student, but in case of low acads, u need 2 give a good enuf reason 4 dat.
4)Program not AICTE approved or deemed
5)fees is nearly arnd 10 lacs

Only Hyderabad results will be out by evening/tomo or even mumbai is counted in????

i am not sure, as I told dem that i has my PI in Delhi on 24th so inquired about its results.. Btw u can call them at 01244934006 and confirm the result date..
