Cricket - Is Guru Greg making way for Australia to win WC-07? - 31-05-2006, 02:25 PM

The experiments with more experiments on Team India are driving them to "Noman's Land". What will be the final strategy of team for WC-07? Who will play in Team - just 9 ODIs are to go? Greg is indirectly supporting Australia. We need to take opinion on this. The matter of forigen coach is steaming again. Some highlightes ->
  • Team India has the most strong batting line up that can chase any sort of target. But near to WC-07 why we need to change it?
  • Why Balaji is out from team? Does he get any failure?
  • Why Agarker is not in Test squad?
  • Why do we need to experiment with Dravid's No -3 pos? We have 2 full time opener with us in WI.
There are many more thoughts that one may share with others.

Well, just for the sake of a discussion, where were those points when India was winning match after match, just before the Windies tour?

indian team is a classical example of fluctuating fortunes or rather confidence in alternate series.........

earlier we were playing tests and ODIs alternately so as a result there was a sharp contrast between our test & Odi record.
Now after losing the ODI series Im sure we'll bounce back strongly in tests.

None of those teams are contender of WC-07 but only Pak. and that is always hot issue in cric. India/Pak. If that would have been negative to team by now Greg might be in Australia.

Naveen,

I tend to disagree ... ofcourse chappel being an australian wants Australia to win. But so did John Wright support New Zealand .. that doesnot mean he was the reason for a 5-2 series lost to New Zealand in NZ .. just b4 the 2003 world cup.

Abnd regarding the issue of Dravid opening .. I think there is a bigger politics involved ... Sachin has already booked the place ... and they dont want to end up in a situatuion where they need to replace an inform opener with Sachin.

And remember India started winning after a long drought ... which involved Sri Lanka and Holland tournaments and the home series against Pakistan... all due to guru greg's experiment.

The funda is simple.. all have their ideas .. some experiment more some less... but the hero is recognised a hero only when he is succesful.

This is an optimistic view. Just listen to your mind, think over it. You need play a full series with team to know about players. Just playing 1 game in whole series won't serve you.

Balaji is yet to prove his fitness. The media hasn't been covering his route to recovery at all. But they did show Balaji at the MIG when the media went bonkers trying to cover Sachin's net session two weeks back. Balaji was also there to prove his fitness to Gloster.

Agarkar should have been in the test squad, especially on current form. But he isn't so no point crying over it. Maybe he might be flwon in for the third or the fourth test.
