Model UN Gen Assembly-Hyd-Oct 8th - Successfully Completed :D

Ahoy folks..... been some time since i've keyed anything in anyways....guess uday n kalyan have done a fab job of keeping you guys informed.....like mentioned, we folks shall be taking care of the selection of students from colleges across the city....so far we've listed close to 35 odd colleges from where we are targeting students....and the entire process has to be done with by the 28th of this month !!! so that's some job... divided the colleges amongst ourselves yesterday.....a few more folks from pg land landed up there.... mona(gemimoons) with her friend sushma, and gauthami(nadi) along with 4 of her other friends....a coupla folks from my college, kunal and shilpa, along with the regulars, uday, pratyusha, kalyan, and yours truly, along with a buncha folks from helix.......

guys....we also are looking out for ideas on how best to target housewives/children.....like has been said, a program on one of the vernacular channels is most likely...but then.....the real challenge is getting housewives to talk on as sensitive an issue, coz in all probability, they themselves are one of the biggest source/cause of urban domestic child labor, inspite of whatever they say to deceive themselves !!!

and guys......this mock UN general assembly session that will be held is something that is real HUGE......since it happens to be in the month that the UN was formed, we'll be having an official UN observer coming down to record the events which will go into some kinda official doc....and it is gonna be held, of all places, in the state legislative assembly !!!

we are also looking at possibly any kinda sms broadcast messages, prolly one or two, across all providers in the run up to the international conference...so those of u that work for mobile service providers or could get us access to any of the authorities higher up, please get in touch with us.....

Hope to see the program going off gr8... and yes ,we still do need more volunteers.....

allo ppl.... long time since we updated this thread, i guess.. nope, its not like nothing's happening.....on the contrary, we've had LOTS happening..in fact so much that hardly any of the folks here get time to sit down and post me missed quite some action due to my indisposition.....glad to be back on ground zero

We now have a lot more PGites with us....along with uday, pratyusha and me, we also have adhish(helix), mona(gemimoons), Sushma, Sameera, Gauthami(nadi) and her friends, kalyan(mkk), and an old member called Zarine Infact Zarine's back bigtime folks nice to see that

The entire work last few days has been visiting colleges and trying to confirm participants for the mock UNGA session that will be held this friday....so far we have had 70+ confirmed speakers from across the twin cities, thanks to the tireless efforts put in by a lot of people.... presently all the folks are neck deep busy in trying to reconfirm with each participant, clearing any queries that they might have, looking after some logistical needs, planning how the entire day's agenda..looking at the venue, planning out things to be done there, and the whole process that is associated with hosting any decent sized event

Had a look at the actual venue today......pretty decent sized one for around 200 odd people.....and yes, in all probability, most of you guys might also be able to see if it is indeed telecast in news capsules as is being planned currently....the session will be attended by a few biggies.....it will start off with the speaker of AP's legislative assembly inaugurating it and there after, we have three special invitees in the form of Mr. Mark De' Silva, head, catholic relief services, Swami Paramanand, Ramakrishna Mission-Hyd, and Mr.Basheeruddin Babukhan, former minister. The session will also be attended by Mrs.Latha Menon, UNICEF who is the official from UN for the day..We are expecting quite a few members of the media too....a press meet has been arranged for this wednesday...in case any of ye folks need the details of the press kit, get in touch with me......from MVF, we shall be having Mrs.Shanta Sinha, Mr.Venkat Reddy amongst others....The whole program is scheduled to start at 9AM and will most likely conclude around 6pm.....

And the surprise package of this entire post/event......the PaGaLGuY folks at Hyderabad are extremely glad to play host to one of the most popular members of our forum for the event. Simba a.k.a Sowmya shall be flying down to Hyderabad on our request....She shall be Secretary General for the program and consequently shall be seeing through its conduct for the day ......and we are absolutely thrilled at that.....

Not only have we kick-started community service activities across a few cities, but we now also are helping each other Here's hoping the event is a grand success And cheers to all the folks working tirelessly towards this end...
