Hi,

I found this link on the Banglore Community thread and this could be of help.

http://www.indianngos.com/states/delhi.html

This link lists out a lot of NGOs, about 10-12 of them, and has a comprehensive lists of issues pretaining to Delhi.

Also, if you guys aren't, Please visit the threads for other cities and see what kind of work they are doing.

Cheers !!!!

P.S. I am septemberthe22nd, s4ur4bh and ubg_knightmare on Yahoo and septemberthe22nd@hotmail.com on MSN

EDIT:
The website does NOT talk bout the issues in detail. Sorry for the wrong info. It just has contact information of few NGOs listed with them.

Re: Delhi Community Service thread - 02-05-2004, 01:29 PM

well now something about the discussion we had yesterday .. we started off by bringing in our personal experiences about the same and as to what stuff can actually be done..sulabh hinted on havin' a contact with some NGO's n then we decided to collect a list of all such NGO's listed in delhi n to associate ourselves with \one of them..

some had the apprehensions that as all of us wud be joinin' some bskool in a couple of months, it wud not be taht gud an idea for services which require a lot of commitment(pref long term) by us. Then apurv (strage brew) suggested that we associate ourselves with a single NGO all over india so that we can have a common platform for all city chapters, so that even if we move into another city, we can spare a sunday for carrying that city chapter forward. n most of us seemed to agree to it. also this can be carried forward bt the next buch of prospective catters.

well then we decided to start off by some activity initially..n that wud be gathering/incouraging more n more ppl to VOTE! so the day is decided as 10th of May and a list regionwise has been formed( though samller grpings hav to be dun).

this is all that i can recall..ppl can chip in with nething i missed on here..

sid

PS : an NGO suggested by pg which has an all india reach is Pratham..u can find out more about it at http://pratham.org/ and http://pratham.org/presence/default.php

well yesterday conf at yahoo turned out to be a damp sqib with only phew member pitching in!
There was nothing conclusive came out of it except some few insights of child labour from arboreal_tarantula. Thanks mate.
We can meet at 8 PM on regular basis if possible for everybody!!

Well I read the conference transcript (thanks to Shriyukta) and it wasn't all that bad . We have some info about what the Hydies are thinking of. The progress is gonna be slow and steady, let it take its own time.

Hey folks! Let us replicate the meet turnout on today's Y! conference. 10th May the election day is just 5 days away and we gotta sort out a lot to get the voter turnout from 53& to 53.00345% (that's a lot of difference!)

So PM Nitin or anybody else your Y! ids... and be there on y-messenger at 8 PM!
See you all there!

Well every1......
here is wat i have in mind........
in XIMB....we have a nature club....(just born) last sem..........calledf PRAKRUTI........
it is linked along with World Wildlife Fund, Bhubaneswar.......
in this we have to organize nature awareness programs.......till now we have organized....an
inter school nature quiz.......
well as wat the plans seems.....we mite have to go out with WWF......on there many drives....related to animal rights.....and also
since now Turtles will be comin on to the beach....there will a be a program related to it......
wat i felt after interactin with them is dat....they
mite have resources......but generally people are not that forthcomin in caring for animals......
they might keep pets.....but wenn it comes to caring for other animals.....they dont come forward.......
though they might come forward plant some trees dats all........
right now in delhi latest thing happenin wich u
all mite also have read in the newspapers is
migration of the birds.....away from delhi.....
i have no clue as of now whether WWF in delhi is doin some work in this field or not........
but i feel linkin up with WWF.....can be a sustained effort....since here ur not dealing with people......whom u cannot leave like dat........in between.......but here.....the effort by WWF....can also be carried forward by linkin up with various b Schools in Delhi via our PG members......
if u all feel this is viable.......then i can try and get a link in WWF Delhi....via the person i kno
in WWF, Bhubaneswar........as per his availability.........

and since my net connection is givin some probs i am not sure whether i will be able to connect around in the evenin or not...rite now also i am in cafe.........
ciao,
Gaurav

Yep, lets make sure we do something about it. Good news on that is I have already taken verbal promises from two friends who would vote just because I coaxed them to. I already feel proud.

8 PM would be difficult for me to be @ Yahoo but I would try my best. I would be here for sure by 9 and do invite me then.

MY Y! is septemberthe22nd and/or s4ur4bh. Please add both of them, I use Trillian and Yahoo Msgr tgether so most prolly I would be online on both at the same time.

Apart from that I have a new idea baout INDIA. Dunno how many of you would like it but I would put it across.

Cheers !!!!

PS: PLEASE pass on the transcript.
